Hi, I'm a new member, but have been looking at the Daily Kitten for a long time from my yahoo home page. On today's kitten, Binkie, who is just adorable!!, the owner mentioned that Binkie liked to drink from the "bowl". I just read a chart from WebMD and the toilet bowl is a household item that has the most bacteria on it. I know our friends in Seattle have a cat that likes to drink from the bowl and it makes him sick. Just a word of caution to all about letting your pets have access to that bowl. Please keep the lid down for their sake. I love all the kittens posted and enjoy them each day!!! We have one indoor kitty left, Redcat. He is a ginger colored tom cat that we rescued when he came to our home in the mideast before we moved to Montana. He's 9 years old now and huge. I have him on a limited food diet now. Unfortunately, we live on a very busy road now and we can't let him wander outside anymore. That is something he loves to do. But he moves around our home amidst his fellow mates, our three dogs. We love him dearly, hope he lives another 9 years, he's 9 now. Again, I'm not being critical, just a word of caution. You want Binkie around for a long time, he is so cute and cuddly!!!! Best wishes to Binkie and his family!!!!

My Mr Woo is diabetic & does need to drink quite a lot, so his bowl is always full of fresh water.....but of course he much prefers the rainwater in an old watering can at the bottom of the garden - when he goes outside that's the first place he goes, and he stands up on his back legs to drink out of it with a big grin on his face !

My old cat Titch would drink from anywhere BUT his bowl, his favourite was lapping water from the dribble from the showerhead laid down in the bath for him...in his last few days, I would carry him to the bathroom to do this, then lift him out of the bath and carry him back to his bed. Daft old cat :-)
