I went to the Caring Field's Animal Sanctuary today. I met some volunteers saturday when I went to Petsmart. The grounds are south Of Stuart,Fl in Royal Palm(I think that's the name) in a more rural area. The cat area is several screened in areas w/ a passthrough to a screened in porch. The cats are fat and sassy but not too friendly, these are the ones that aren't adoptable I guess but they look plenty content. They have other outbuildings where they house the sick cats(only 6 kits at the moment and they're doing very well. They have outside colony with covered, warm shelters for the cats to go is it's cold or raining. They also have a nice area where they keep the FIV/FELV positive cats and they look wonderful too. It's a very spread out georgeous place where I met other caring animal people. I already consider that i made one good friend and I look forward to working with the others. I brought home a foster,a long haired tortie who is very sweet but VERY skinny, she needs TLC and food.Things I'm good at. I also offered to foster two cats whose owner died unexpectedly that are going to lose their home soon. They're 2 sweet black kitties who are understadably depressed.
Jasper is put out that I brought another animal home(How dare she?) but as long as I keep feeding him yummy food and fawning over him he should be fine.

Sounds terrific Marsha, how great that you are doing this! Have you given the foster a name yet?

Her name is Ellie. I set the big bathroom up for her so I can monitor her better. I put a cat bed,a soft blankie and the rest, she walked out of her carrier looked around, looked back at me and started purring. She is already chowing down. I'm going to take some pictures of her and I'll put her picture on my flickr account.
And Thanks! :D -
hi marsha - what a good hearted person you are. to foster a kitty and think of taking in two more. i would love to be able to do something along those lines, but my house is not big enough and i already have a crew. snowy, my recent adoptee, is now gradually acclimating to the household. i think you have done a very good deed. all the Good Lord's blessings to you and yours. bobby

That's such a wonderful thing your doing Marsha. I need to get going again getting in touch with the no-kill shelters outside our jurisdiction to see if they can find homes or at least help sponsor until they can find permanant homes for them. We just don't have any facilities like that in our area. This sanctuary sounds like a wonderful place. Good luck with Ellie! <^..^>

hi linda - yes, thank the Good Lord. she started venturing out more last week, which was week number three. now everytime i'm in the basement, she visits with me, headbonks, lotsa purring, in and out between my legs and just being very sweet and affectionate. and she has a wonderful appetite. i'm not entirely sure if she has beome friends with the two older cats, sometimes i hear racing around from the basement and the hallway outside the living room. generally when its nite and i'm already in bed. busy, one of the older cats, hangs out in the basement most of the time, i have seen her hiss a number of times at snowy and then run away from her. the last few times it seems as though it could have been a game, i'm just not sure. but overall, everything is much, much better than it was two weeks ago, when i was pretty unhappy about snowy being in hiding since i brought her home. i think a corner has been turned and all is gradually returning to normal (or atleast as normal as it can possibly be in my house, with the menagerie i have!!) thanks for asking. bobby

Marsha, bless you for your enormous heart. I have 3 torties ( plus 4 others!), so I will look forward to hearing all about Ellies' progress...and some photos maybe. Good luck with the blackies also.

Wow Marsha! She's beautiful! Love those eyes!
I went to petsmart today to look at the books and magazines while I waited to go pick Mom up from work had an hour! Ate at Arby's then went over to PatSmart. Something told me to go to the kitty adopt area! There were four kitties there! Two Black and white babies, one medium tortie and oh my! The most beautiful blue baby gilr with white locket and white tummy spots! As I read her info it said she is SHY! Haahaa! SHy? As so as I walked up she mewed and started rubbing up against the glass, purring! When she finally realized all i could do was talk to her, click and purr to her and run my finger along the glass for her to chase she went and got her fluffy mouse and started batting it around doing backflips and somersualts it was too cute! But the cutest thing was went she batted it to me (even though it bumped the glass) and when it fell beuase of the glass she picked it up and tried to hand it to me through the glass too cute! As I looked into her beautiful green/gold eyes and heard her little chirp my heart ached! Her eyes seemed to say take me with you! As I walked away she kept crying out!
It was the hardest thing to walk away from her but, she's still a baby so I have high hopes she'll be adopted and she's in foster so I know she wont be put to sleep!
She sooooo would have been on her way home with me if my Step-Dad and Mom would let me have her!

Marsha, it's such a wonderful thing you're doing in giving this little one a chance to grow strong, catch up, so she can one day go to a loving home. You're a special lady and I wish you and the 'kids' my very best. I'm afraid I wouldn't be a very good foster mother. I'd want to keep every single kitty I brought home. I'm a terminally hopeless mother-er!!

Thank you for the photo Marsha...Ellie is absolutely gorgeous . I just love the calm sweet look in her eyes; I think she knows that she is in good hands. I am so looking forward to hearing about her progress. Please give her a kiss from our family.

Oh Angie, you have more resistance than I would. Heartbreaking to have to walk away, huh?

oh yes PaulaJeanne! Stepdad would have made me bring her back! So it was wiser to walk away empty handed!
Yes Marsha I hope to soon have a baby of my own! Just gotta find a place I can afford to move too! sigh!
