  1. Cats do indeed choose their people!

  2. My cat Petey chose me on Mothers day 1986. I was sitting on my deck watching the sunrise and drinking my coffee! I closed my eyes and was listening to the birds churping when all of the sudden I had a start as a cat jumped on my lap. Scared me to death! I said hello and started petting him and he started purring! When the kids and ex got up in the morning we were still on the deck in the same position. We gave him some milk and tuna from a can for breakfast(We were catless at the time!) and he never left and no one claimed him. he lived with us for 10 years and I still miss him!

  3. 4 of mine have chosen me, but unfortunately 2 disappeared and one died (my heart still aches to think of those three).

But Rattlesnake showed up one day and must have known he was home. In fact, my boyfriend was petting him while telling people to not let me know about him because I'd want to keep the cat!

  4. The last two I choose, but before that all my cats choose me. Buster I took as a foster, but after 3 months of work when I finally could pet the bugger he decided I was ok and would revert to his horrible self everytime I took him for the adoption fairs. Harry I got from a girl at the Vet's office. He has also decided that I am worth keeping, even though he loves to run around the yard and hide under my car (I make sure he is inside before I leave)

  5. both of mine did. I had no reason to go to PetSmart the day I adopted Emerson and generally made it a point to avoid the adoption center when I did go in. But I went that day and made a bee line for the adoption area. I walked in and he started up a conversation with me. Typical Meezer. The volunteer opened the cage door and he climbed onto my shoulder and stayed there until we got home. Ferrule was a feral at the office that I caught. Other people had seen him but had been unable to catch him. I caught him and the little flea ridden mess burrowed into my hair.

  6. Both of mine picked me. Quazo picked me when she walked out in front of me and meowed so that I would take her away from the dumpster that she and Misto were living near and later Misto decided I was OK because I was the only one she would allow to pick her up.

Now they are both lazy and furry

  7. Until we adopted Buttercup, then Penny, from shelters, I had never gone looking for a cat. Chappel was abandoned with his littermates in the narthex of the church I was attending at the time. Bobby was given to me by someone who'd rescued him from a parking lot. Inky and Phillipi were members of a neighborhood feral colony; Inky decided to get adopted first, then, after he was well established in his home, he brought in Phillipi. Tiger Lily, Quimby, and Katie were given to me by people who couldn't keep them. My little sister Darlene came to live with me when our mother went to live in a personal care home.

Buttercup and Penny did some campaigning to join us, though. When my husband took Buttercup out of her kennel, she tucked her head under his chin, closed her eyes, and purred. When Penny was placed in my hands, she began to purr and lick my thumb. That was it, in both cases.
