Still no babies yet. I was glad I didn't stay up ALL night. If anything happens, I'll update on this thread...
Maisie is very purry and very prone...
BABIES! BABIES! BABIES! BABIES! I think that they will come soon. Nothing that makes me feel worse than watching a cat who is in labor. I want to help them but know they are not interested! Learned that during my days at the Veterinary School! Leave well enough alone, unless they are in trouble.

Jcat, you have a cold front and rain coming your way, Maisie will probably have the kittens in the early hours of the morning during heavy rain in typical animal fashion.

Jcat will (hopefully) be asleep right now, so won't know about Maisie just yet.

Back in WWII my mother served in the same unit in the military with a gentleman who was a farmer that lived in a rural area without phones or rural electric yet. One spring day a few years earlier the poor man had had quite a crazy 24 hours during a strong late winter type storm that particular spring.
Normally when the ewes would drop their lambs, the cows have their calves, and the mare birth her foal would be spaced out somewhat according to expected due times. Oh yes, and his wife was pregnant with their first child.
The storm had unusually low pressure and every pregnant creature on his farm went into labor, including his wife. There wasn't time to ride to any neighboring farms to get help in a near blizzard, so he had to cope by himself. He couldn't stay full time with his wife or they'd have risked losing valuable animals they couldn't afford to lose. So the man spent a long night and day caring for all the birthing mothers both wife and beasts back and forth between house and barn endlessly.
He did manage to be with his wife when their child was born. Hours later when he had a moment to sit down he found that the family dog had given birth to a litter of puppies on the living room rug and that the cat had had a litter of kittens in a kitchen dresser drawer he had left open in his haste after fetching something for his laboring wife. Momma cat had made a birth nest for her kittens on his wife's best trouseau linens!
Oooh, Christmas babies!

No kittens yet! I am going to my parents on Christmas Day and will spend the night before I drive back (mainly so that I can have bubbles at Christmas lunch) so I hope she doesn't wait until Christmas Day!
Whoo-hooo, BC, puppies and kittens! You go, Chunka!
Marnet, that is a fabulous, fabulous story. Poor man! What a wonderful short film that would make.
