The strangest thing happened today. Very strange. I can't explain it. I was coming home from work and it was snowing very hard. VERY hard, people were not driving safely. I saw a firetruck coming down the street directly at me. I panicked and thought we were going to have a head on collision. I swerved off the road as the other 4 lanes were blocked so as not to get hit head on by a huge ladder truck. After that the engineer of the firetruck met with me to make sure I was ok. (I was). He took my information and went about his call to the fire. Just now I got a call from him apologizing about the incident earlier. (I am fine, my car is fine, my heart nearly jumped from my chest). We got talking and he asked if he could make it up to me over coffee sometime. He wanted to meet in the mornig when he got off but I will be at work. I told him perhaps another time. He was very nice and we talked for a bit. I am not rushing into anything at all, I am still working thru my emotions with FF, but what are the chances I would meet another FM this way? I will probably meet him for coffee but am very skittish at best about it. I just thought it was ironic, very ironic. Is God trying to tell me something? Hmmmm. Go figure.

Of course God has a wicked sense of humor, platypus anyone? Sounds like he was scared a bit too! Weird the way we end up meeting decent people some time. I don't know all the extenuating circumstances that seem to be there for you but I'd say make a friend, let him get you the coffee and just enjoy a new friendship :)

As MS said, coffee is just coffee. I think this is an opportunity for a new friendship. And if that's all it is then that's wonderful - how often do we get to make new friends! And if it's not even that it makes a really funny story to tell the next man who invites you out! Only ten more and you could have a calendar! ;-) I know you'll do what feels right for you - you're a smart woman.

I agree, coffee is coffee. If you make a new friend it will give your self-confidence a nice boost. If it develops into something else over time, so be it. If he introduces you to someone else, cool. If all you get is a cup of coffee, well, it's a cup you didn't have to pay for.

ROFLMAO @ KK, already drawing up the calendar! Well, MC, I'm afraid this is just what you get for being beautiful, smart, funny and caring, you get hunky men falling at your feet. I haven't forgotten when you were going through your surgery and you had three asking you out for coffee! You were apprehensive then -- it felt like the wrong time -- and I can understand you being apprehensive now. But, as everyone says, it's just coffee, girl! And when is the right time to meet anyone? There are no rules, there are just opportunities.
Take this one. You need to get out and have a bit of fun. It really is only coffee.

Yeah I know, it just seems like it's wrong somehow. That is why I came here for my morale boost! I know you guys are right, I just needed to hear it! And KK, there have been two before so I only need EIGHT for my calendar. Coming from a medical family I tend to attract medical, fire, and police personell like honey attracts bees. Its weird but I wanted to be a firefighter when I was three til I was about 8. I had the gear, the truck everything. Somewhere I have pix my parents used to take. So, ok, its coffee. You are right. Today he is taking his parents to a church program so another day. Just coffee.

He is. HE moved so that he could be within walking distance of his kids and their private school. He is one of 10 children, I am one of 6 children. That's a lot of kids between us! LOL :) Maybe his fellow employees will finish up the calendar for me and I don't have to find anymore by "accident"!

It is, he is getting promoted next week so he will be taking over an entirely different firehouse from the one he is at. It is in the highest crime area of the city. He said they do not allow any women to work at that station. Not good.

Does God have a sense of humour? You bet He does - I suspect He sometimes cracks up completely at the stupid things He sees us doing.
Apart from the Platypus (already quoted above) look at some of the other members of the animal kingdom, or some of our politicians come to that ....
We were created in His image and we have a sense of humour - it must have come from somewhere ....MC I hope you enjoy your coffee with your Fireman when you get the chance to go and drink it. Have fun and don't attach too much significance to it.

Oh Amy...this sounds just like a Lifetime Movie and could be very exciting. Please give this fella a chance...I know you're a bit skittish after FF but sweetie the general consensus on FM and their character is very good. If nothing else you may make a wonderful friend and we can never have too many of those!! =)
