oh RM, I'm so excited about being off for a good 5 days, and then next week, another 5!..... been so stressed lately, it's nice to have some time to recoup and revamp!....
.... watching an old Ginger/Fred movie right now, can't believe, what great dancers they were 'in their day'....!
Argh, I am insanely jealous (but happy) for your mini-vacations! I'm glad to have a job that I love (most days lol ) but I wish I could take more time off to relax or get things done. Oh well...working so much keeps me out of trouble :D
I'm watching Auction Kings right now on Discovery. I love all of these auction type shows...definitely get that interest from my mom and her best friend! They are always out at estate sales, garage sales, auctions etc finding awesome deals!

RM, it's not really like I have a great vaca!.... these are time accrued, and if I don't use them, I loose them! :(
I'll still probably leave 4-5 days on the table at the end of the year!....
.... last Christmas, I took almost no time off, so now, at least I'm taking a few 5-day stretches!.... maybe I'm getting smart, maybe I'm getting burned out!
Evening AV and RM, we're busy little beavers here. Airy raked up numerous barrow loads of magnolia leaves while I water blasted the front porch and driveway clean. Now we're a bit wet but that's fine as it's really hot and humid here. Can't stay as there are 2 large baskets of washing that won't fold themselves and Airy is washing the kitchen ceiling down. HRH is somewhere outside no doubt tucked up in a shady nest.
Back later in the shift.
Nips back and fills large glass at fountain.

Boo! My moms work is like that with the vacation time accrued...use it or loose it! Came in handy this year when she needed time off for her cancer stuff but she typically "looses" a lot of the time each year...which sucks!!! Enjoy the time you do have off with your family and friends!

Jan, I know you and Airy will be 'baking' up similar things as Jill (Dau) and I!.... finally, she is loving cooking with me, and we even are going to the 'old veggie guy' at the end of the block to buy some of his fresh spices and nice tomatoes tomorrow!....
.... apparently this past cold snap has killed off most of my home grown spices, except... (wait for it)..... THE CAT NIP.....!.... it's flourishing like no body's business!...... everything else has pretty much 'bitten the dust'... :(

Hi'ya AV and RM!!! Nice to see you here. Brrrr... it's cold here. 28 degrees. My hands were freezing as I brought groceries into the house from the car before. Should have put my mittens on!
I have something cute and touching to share. It made my day today. I have a friend I have known since her birth. We have always been friends. Her first grandson just turned 5 last month. His knickname is "Dig". We seldom chat on the phone as she is very busy with 4 kids and 4 grandkids. The last time we chatted, Dig wanted to say hi to me. He is SO adorable and has the cutest little voice. I asked my friend if he would enjoy getting a paper airplane one day and she said he loves getting things and was getting books each month, but that has stopped since he is 5. I sent him a cute little Christmas card and sticker. Well, today I got a Beautiful... glitter Christmas card he wrote his own name in, and another paper he drew, himself and me holding hands(precious!)and wrote on that as well. My friend added a photo of him and one with him, his little sister, mom and dad. Right now they all live with Grandma. I was SO touched when I opened it, I had tears in my eyes. Little kids are just so special. This darling little boy has never seen me, only chatted a couple of times to me on the phone. I am "Aunt Bea" to him. I plan to continue sending him little things in the mail as he appreciates it so. :) I feel so blessed.... I have a little friend in Fl. I've known since she was 2 1/2 or so and now that she is 10, she writes to me, emails me, sends me things and even has called me a couple of times. We've kept in touch since she moved at age 4. She is precious too. I LOVE having these kids in my life. :)

BB, it took her almost 20 years to realize that!.... I'm tickled to death that she wants to learn and experiment with cooking with me now!..... funny.... she's had her first BF this year, and now she's back home with me!..... oh I'm loving the time, but I do hope she and I will not butt heads this next year ! LOL
Ahhhh, sometimes it takes us daughters a little bit to wise up, AV ;-) LOL
I think it's time for Roxy and me to go to bed...well, I'm going to bed. Roxy is going to be a brat! teehee :) Night everyone!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkk, we just found a huge black spider living behind the kitchen blind (shudders). She is now inside the vacuum cleaner and there is a cork in the end of the pipe in case she survived. (shudders again).
AV, not much cooking being done here, roasting a large piece of pork to have cold and making a mix berry(soaked in brandy)trifle. The rest is salads and cold cooked ham. Oops, nearly forgot the ganache for the tiny lemon curd tartlets.

SM, I think HRH would have run from this spider. KK tells me she had it's sister at her home last week although hers was already deceased.
It's so muggy here we're having cold gazpachocado as a starter for dinner and finishing up with crumbed pork fingers and coleslaw.

I certainly hope so SM, we're totally worn out from cleaning windows,ceilings and heaps of washing. Had our first fine day in ages. Then there was all the recycling we did and the water blasting of the front porch. All that in high humidity, ugh! We need quick, light cool ad delicious food.
