My apologies if there is another cafe going, I didn't see one. Got up around my usual 4am to feed the girls and had a blasted headache. Took some narcotics and slept until now. I couldn't find a cafe so I thought I would open one. The buffet is overflowing with country favorites, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and biscuits, ham, pork roast, meatloaf, roast, veggies, salads, soups, crusty breads, pies, cakes, brownies, and cookies. Champagne is flowing from the bar and there are all sorts of yummy shakes/malts and non alcohlic beverages. Come on in! Cafe is "OPEN".

HI MC and Gini!
I see new avatars....cute!!!!
Sorry about your head, MC...hope it improves as the day goes on!
Gini, how is Mike doing?
I am sooo cold today....can't seem to get warm....is it almost spring?
MC, didn't you say you love football? My daughter is the same way...never used to like it, but got into it a couple of years ago...she is rooting for the Packers, of course. I couldn't care less!!!
I'll grab a piece of chocolate cake with alot of frosting on it and a very hot cuppa joe! Hope everyone has a nice day! -
Afternoon MC and Gini!..... wow, Gini! 12 degrees wind chill!!!!! MC, must be cold where you are too!...... 63 here today... and bright/sunny.......
... Abby has been hogging the heating pad all morning, we're watching a movie, inbetween doing laundry loads for Daughter...... how can one college girl have so many clothes???????..... and how can she go so long inbetween doing her laundry????????...... now that she's moved home for a semester, I can guarentee she'll have to keep up with it, cause I cannot tolerate heaps of dirty clothes sitting around forever!......
-
Hi KH!..... 63 is beautiful here!..... cool, but not freezing.... chilly enough to enjoy sitting with a heating pad..... but doesn't look like I'll get a turn anytime soon.....LOL
..... when the weather is nice here, like it is now, we rarely run the heat, usually just put the downstairs heat pump on 70, and enough heat rises upstairs to keep it comfortable...... electric bills are the lowest this time of the year, so we save money - yay!......

Hi MC, Kat, AV & C4C! *waves toward Chicago, Wisconsin, Florida & Texas* Made waffles for brekkie, a yummy change of pace!
The Christmas tree just went out the door, sigh. It was a pretty tree. Leela spent a few last minutes under it; she was sad to see it go too. Yesterday I took all the decorations down, put up some winter stuff and organized the boxes & hubby will put them in the attic. Only the cards box will stay down; I like to look at the cards again after the holiday crazies are over. Now it's time to vacuum all the needles!
Watched football last night - THE JETS MADE THE PLAYOFFS - go figure!
Still have the crud - mostly a cough that doesn't do anything. Annoying, but feeling much better than a week ago.Posted 1 year ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Me too, Joan!.... mostly better, only the chest cough lingers.....
.... congratz Jets!...... I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's college championship, Auburn, my almamater is playing for the big win!........ we took our tree down last weekend, but I'm still vacumning up needles!.... they seem to hide and then reappear during the week!..... Abby is good at finding them to scoot around on the wood floors!
-
Oooh, I'll root for Auburn tomorrow then, AV! I enjoy college football too.

I agree. I was rooting for Va. Tech in the Orange Bowl last week; brother went there and nephew is currently attending. They lost (badly!) but, well, that's how it goes!
My yard is so pretty. A new coat of snow fell on Friday, and a bit more yesterday. I love seeing the various animal tracks! The black feral kittens really stand out when they come to my yard to play.Posted 1 year ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Hi all! I made it to the pool today for the first time since the renovations started; they finished the locker room on the floor where the pool is so I don't have to go up and down scary stairs in flip flops. The new locker room is gorgeous, and I managed 6 lengths of the pool (probably could have done more but didn't want to overdo). Now I just have to figure out how to fit the pool into my new screwed-up work schedule.

-15F windchill and windy this morning. No wonder my head hurts. Yup, that's Betty you see in my avatar, she was tired of Wilma in the pix. Snuggling my nurses and trying to stay warm.

I won't say what our temperature is here MC, but you can guess it's a bit higher than yours. Sorry you have a headache this morning, i hope the day warms up(if you can call it that).
Congrats Kilroy, i hope you can fit the pool into your new crazy schedule.
Airy, miniKK and I are going picnicking today, probably at a local waterfall and we'll feed the ducks our left over stale bread.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

oh, that sounds like a lovely day, MS!... enjoy!....
.... tonite, Mr. AV and I are enjoying a final quiet evening before Daughter gets back, and starts her new semester here at home......
... I tried something new, and I was wondering if anyone has done this before?.....
... I had some left over short ribs from Christmas dinner, that I had seared off, but couldn't fit in the big pots..... so I cooled, then froze them.... today, I thawed them, and am now making my usual slow cooking short rib receipe with the previously seared and frozen short ribs...... I have never done this before, and am hoping it won't make a difference to stop the process, and then pick it up at a later time..... anyone ever done this???? should I do something different or else to make this work better?
-
Hi AV, make the most of your final quiet evening with Mr AV. It's great having kids at home again BUT it is also nice having time alone together. Hopefully Airy won't read this or KK tells on me ! !.
Airy and miniKK have just woken up, halfway through the morning!
I hope your ribs turn out perfectly, I've never done ribs so I'm so help.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

LOL @ MS!........ *hopes* Daughter doesn't read this too! LOL...... "do not 'tell' on her, KK!!"....... there is always sisterly blackmail ;)
..... I'm thinking the ribs should turn out ok, especially since they're slow cooked for 3+ hours..... how can ANY meat not be 'fall off the bone' tender when done that way????
.....MS, do you not have short ribs, or baby back ribs, or even spare ribs available in NZ?????? I'm thinking they would be like doing lamb shanks or ox tails if you do those types of meats......
-
I noticed at my butcher recently they have marintaed and non marinated ribs so I just might give "ribs" a go some time. KK has done them before and found a wickedly good sauce recipe I might get from her.
We're off now, see you all later, probably on the Night Shift.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

So I am finally making the ham I had in the fridge in the slow-cooker with brown sugar, dried mustard, horseradish as a paste with a bit of coke .... let's see how it turns out.
AV, I don't think anything will mess with the ribs, they should turn out very tasty and fall off the bone :)

AV, I can't see why it would hurt your ribs either. I am hoping that the ham comes out well, never have tried horseradish in a paste before.
