  2. Hi MC! Did you get any sleep? How's your head?

Posted 1 year ago by Kilroy #

  3. I slept off and on and on and off. Wilma was wound up like a crazy kitty last night so she kept things interesting all night long. My head is a bit foggy and sore today, not as bad as yesterday.

  4. Hey you two :)

MC, glad that you got at least a little bit of sleep.

Going to bed here in a moment, my get-up-and-go, got-up-and-went-without-me and I am feeling the need to lie down. You know its almost as bad as Hazel not showing up, wench that she is.....all I would want her to do is windows and vacuum the floors, sigh.

  5. I'm so jealous; my stepdaughter and her husband are flying off to Sweden tomorrow so he can do a photo shoot with the head of Volvo, then they're spending a couple of days in London before coming home. And Volvo is paying for half of it (they're not paying for stepdaughter, although she'll probably end up helping out on the shoot). They have to schlep their equipment around, because it would have cost more to rent it there than to bring their own, but hey, they're young and strong, they'll deal, right?

Hi Deb! Hope you get some sleep.

  6. Morning everyone!.... hope everyone is doing well this morning!..... rode our bikes down to our breakfast Cafe this morning, and am now doing some cleaning/chores..... Daughter is going to help me dye my hear today (eeeek!) .... wish us luck!

Wow, Kilroy! Sweden!...... I'm jealous too! how fun does that 'work' sound!

Deb, hope you get some sleep, maybe Hazel will 'visit' while you're snoozing, cause she certainly didn't make it to Florida!!!

MC, hope the head stops hurting!

  7. Ya know its almost noon and I haven't seen Betty since about 6am, hope she is enjoying doing whatever it is she's doing.

  8. Morning Deb!.... I'd thought for sure you'd be asleep by now!

... that does look good, but here's my absolute favorite coleslaw - actually similar

    Sweet and Crunchy Coleslaw
    Leslie Griffin
1 bag angle hair cabbage (plain, no carrots or anything added)
    4 green spring onions sliced
1 package Ramen noodles – oriental flavor
    1 cup slivered almonds
    ¼ cup roasted sunflower seeds
    2 tlbs. Butter
    Dressing:
¼ cup rice wine vinegar (the seasoned kind)
    3 tlb. Sugar
the seasoning packet from the Ramen noodles
    1 tsp salt
    ½ tsp pepper
    ½ cup vegetable oil

Break the Ramen noodles up and toast them and the almonds in the butter. Pour out on a paper towel and let cool completely. Once cooled, keep them in a plastic baggie until you’re ready to assemble the salad. DO NOT put this salad together until right before you want to serve it. You can make it ahead of time, the onions & cabbage can be together, but don’t add the noodles/nuts until just before assembling. When you’re ready to serve, layer all the ingredients in a large bowl, add the dressing and toss…… this is the perfect coleslaw to take to a picnic because it can sit out with no worries (no mayo!)… it’s best served room temp.

  9. AV, on my way actually, your recipe sounds good too will have to try it since I love slaw and one of my good friends doesn't like mayo.....and its served @ room temp :) Just copied yours and sent it to myself so I can print it out tonight @ that place. Oh off I go following the yellow brick road to the land of Nodz.....

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  10. ..... I swear, you'll never go back to the mayo kind if you try this!...... you could use the slaw with the carrots mixed in with my receipe, that would be good too!......

.... Mr. AV and I are sitting here watching Chicago KILL Washington!..... it's snowing hard there!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  11. Lol just what I need, snow in Chicago....why couldn't this baby have been born in the spring! All mine were summer babies, no traveling in the cold for me.

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  12. oh Deb, it doesn't look like it will get warmer any time soon :(

..... next weekend will be cold here, 59 predicted for Saturday, which is the first of the three Gasparilla parades.... the children's parade (non-alcoholic and family friendly).... the following weekend is the 'regular' huge Marti Gras like parade - anywhere from 300,000 to 600,000 people descend on our little stretch of Bayshore...... it's bedlam!.... the week after that is the night parade (ranchy, drunken brawl)... thank goodness that parade is moved to Ybor.......

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  13. AV, that recipe is almost identical to one I got from my mother-in-law. I had the coleslaw at a family reunion in Sth Dakota several years ago and it was so delicious. I made it at New Year but used a store bought Asian citrus dressing that was perfect for it. I also tend to leave out the spring onions as I can't stand them.

  14. ...... I'm sure there are lots of similar versions out there - I just love the crunch that the ramen noodles and almonds give it!......

..... I'll probably make it next weekend for the parade celebration - Mr. AV usually cooks brats and dogs on the porch for whomever stops bye...... typically a steady stream of family and friends all day....... might have to make my special baked beans and lemon squares too........

.... hey, do you know if MS tried to make her ribs yet?...... the coleslaw would be awesome with ribs!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  15. Not sure if MS has done the ribs yet, AV. So where are things at in the football - what teams are left? MrKK and I have lost track and we only get 2 games a week screened here on ESPN and the last we saw was the Colts going down to the Jets.

  16. AV, that slaw sounds yummy--I have to try that one. Never thought of using Ramen for that, but it sounds good and crunchy.

Posted 1 year ago by morrissmom #

  17. Just read the Mexican slaw one, too--both sound yummy--may have to take one of those to our Super Bowl party at work. Now to decide which one.;)

Posted 1 year ago by morrissmom #

  18. MM, the toasted noodles and almonds make it sooooooooo good!....... you'll love it!

..... KK, Chicago is playing Seatle..... the winner plays Green Bay for a spot in the Super bowl.......

..... the winner of the Patriots and the Jets (this afternoon's game).... plays the Steelers for the other spot.........

..... we're getting down to the wire!...... looks like Chicago is a shoo in..... 21 to zip...... don't think Seatle has a prayer......

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  19. Rats - I'm a Seahawks supporter due to my in-laws living in WA. I hope the Jets beat the Patriots too, time their reign came to an end.

Posted 1 year ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  20. ... I'm sorry, KK!..... Wow, Chicago just scored again!.... they are really running away with this game......

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  21. KK, a long time ago when I lived in Seattle (we're talking 15 years at least) I went to a Seahawks season opener with my then boyfriend. The Seahawks weren't very good back then, and they got walloped. I still remember teasingly asking him, "And you like this game why exactly?". Still, it's good to see them doing better in recent years. Growing up in New England we always cheered for the Patriots (well, my dad cheered, I couldn't have cared less) :)

Posted 1 year ago by Kilroy #

  22. I have tended to support the teams that are in the cities where
MrKK's family live/lived or cities I have been to. Hence over the years I have supported San Francisco in football and baseball, Seattle in football and baseball and Indianapolis in football (and because the only game I have been to was a Colts one.) After being in New Orleans I have become a Saints supporter. And I also was a Green Bay supporter but I can't remember why this was - think they were the underdogs at the time.

  23. I am soooooo bummed Chicago won! I am an Indianapolis Colts fan to the end! Boo! Yes, it is snowing to beat the band around here. Cold too. 1-3 inches today, 3 inches tonight, 2 inches tomorrow and 3-5 inches tomorrow night! UGH! What did I miss??? AZ and Chicago??!??!?!?! Something I NEED to know???

    Posted 1 year ago by mollycat71 #

  24. Hi everyone! I've done a whole lot of not much today. Football has been on, and when I napped on the couch, Leela napped with me, yay! Looks like Chicago won - now on to the next game. The Jets have been a crummy-to-medicocre team for so long it would be nice to see them advance. NYC Mayor predicts them to win the superbowl - way to jinx 'em Mikey!

  25. i finally got to sleep this morning at 10 am and just woke up. boy, i certaintly had the "what ifs" last night.

i am going to try and sell some of my posessions on craigslist. i thought i might be able to sell my tv, my couch, dining room table and chairs, my solid steel kitchen prep table, my stereo, a dresser, and a lane oak/cedar blanket chest. i also have a king sized hand stitched quilt, never used, that my parents gave me several years ago. they won it in a raffle and passed it on to me. i have never used it because it doesn't fit my decor style...

i will really start looking at the several temp agencies in town. will peruse craigslist.com more. i will also to a place that was a long term part time job for me several years ago. i may have to go back to feeding dry food to the cats...

  26. and i will have to wrute a long letter to my landlord explaining the situation...

Posted 1 year ago by CSBM #

  27. I just love being rudely awakened by a young man selling who the hell knows what, ringing my doorbell repeatedly and then knocking also, ARGH! I absolutely hate doorbells, don't care what they sound like, they make my teeth hurt listening to them.

MC, yes ma'am I fly into Midway on Tuesday morning and leave Fri morning, its my granddaughter's 2nd birthday Tuesday. Just hope I feel better while there, and the anticipated high of 26F is not exciting at all....its why I live in the southwest, I can see snow on tv, calendars, movies, etc.

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  28. door to door ought to be illegal....... we have a 'no call list'..... can't that include a 'don't knock on my door list' too????

..... Deb, I hope you have a wonderful time with the granddau & family...... so glad you can be with them for her b'day...... stay warm, and just remember, it's only a visit - you don't LIVE in that cold!......

... I just put a chicken pot pie in the oven, the house has smelled good all day, from cooking the chicken & veggies, to making the crust....... now it's all together and baking nicely..... yummmmmm!!!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  29. Oh boy, I am getting my butt thru the wormhole to AV's! I love chicken pot pie! LOVE IT! It was a comfort food growing up and it still is! I was craving fish and chips but you changed my mind! Be right over.

AZ, it will be great to have you in the "area" this week! We are expecting snow, unfortunately!
