  1. AV, I know, told my daughter she didn't need to go all out and that I would be happy enough to stay inside. Luckily I have my UGG's just in case, cuddlduds because I really hate wearing a coat and gloves, I don't wear hats....so hope thats enough. It will be nice to see them though, Becca is big enough now to tell anyone what is exactely on her mind :)

MC, lol and its expected to be 78F here in Tucson most of next week!

  2. ... MC, I will definitely send you a steaming plateful thru the wormhole when it's done!..... it's got to bake an hour now!..... making it from scratch just takes time.... it's one of those meals I like to do on a lazy Sunday, when I have loads of time to do stuff, then come back to it, then do the next step, then come back to it, etc. etc.

..... too bad you're not closer to where Deb is flying in to make a meet up...... at least you can give her 'warm dressing advise'.......

.... oh, and did I mention that Dau made her '4-ingredient key lime icebox pie' for dessert??..... she used to make that for her daddy when she was little, and the other day, she said "Mom, I think I'll make Dad a pie tonite".... needless to say, we're on the third pie of the week! LOL.... lucky for us, it's low fat!

  3. Hi all, how can it be Sunday evening already??? The weekend just flew by! Yesterday after work, XBF and I went to the auto parts store and got some boots for my sparkplugs and got those installed and my car runs better again - but not perfect. I think we may need to replace the coils, too. I'm going to join AAA before I start driving it to work. I get so anxious driving it and worrying about getting stranded somewhere. XBF tells me i'm silly and assures me it'll be fine, but i'll feel better, I hope, with AAA on my side.

After fixing the car, I had about an hour to get ready for swim friend's son's wedding. GG had hockey and his supervisor wanted him to spend the first two periods there because the commissioners were in town. The wedding started at seven and he finally showed up at almost 9:30. However, the wedding was running really late because the rabbi couldn't come till after sunrise because of jewish customs. So GG made it just in time for dinner - he loves to eat! He has never met my swim friend and her family, but everyone got along famously which was nice. GG and I are the same age, but my friends are all older, almost the age of his parents, so I wondered how that would go. Swim friend texted me today and said they all liked him, so tjat's nice.
By the way, this whole wedding was being taped for the show "four weddings" on TLC. I'll have to find out when it airs.

  5. So guess that NZ is or will be getting some good winds, at least the South Island will. There is a cyclone Zella headed that say, but it should or is expected to go down to a tropical low tomorrow morning.

  6. 12P, I do love that coleslaw!..... it really is yummy!

the Ck Pot Pie - seems like I do it different every time.....
.... my basic ingredients in the filling are:

loads of chicken (I stewed a whole chicken and de-boned it)
then blanched some cut up carrots, onions and frozen peas in the broth
chopped up 3 hard boiled eggs
    salt/pepper/thyme/garlic powder/paprika
for the 'sauce', I make a rue of flour, butter and milk, fresh nutmeg, salt/pepper..... I add (yes, fontina or parm - but just a little for flavor) I make it thick, then 'thin' it a little with 1/2 cup white wine when it's cooled...

mix that all together with the chicken and veggies..... pour into a greased casserole dish, and top with either:

crust - homemade using the bisquick receipe on the box, any pie crust you like (don't make it too sweet) or even the refridgerated pie crust in the dairy case...... all work really well! Really just depends on if you like a 'biscut' type of top, or a thinner pie crust type of top..... today, and more often than not, I use the refridgerated pie crusts, cause that's what Dau likes best....

rememeber to put slits in the top, and bake for about an hour at 350, until crust is nicely browned.......

  7. Deb, I am about to eat my lunch and go out for a walk and enjoy the sunshine before the bad weather hits us later today or tomorrow. Expecting high winds and rain but at least it will be warm rain.
I also need to go out for a walk before I do something I regret to my manager. I asked for his opinion on something I am working on as I didn't feel entirely comfortable making a decision on my own. I got back an email saying "I think you need to decide". I was so livid! Of course I was going to decide - I just wanted some support and feedback!!! He is so unhelpful lately - but VERY helpful to his old female friend who he just employed. It is really getting to several of us here in the office. I have decided to just 'work around' him and get support from elsewhere.

  8. Mmmm, haven't made a chicken pot pie in a while. I often cheat and use the pre-made crust, but it still comes out pretty good. I like to make chicken and veggies topped with Bisquick biscuits.

  10. KK, sounds like a good idea to get support elsewhere, I do have unfluffy feelings for poor management.
