  1. Yep, it's big-boy surgery day! Miss Leela had to fast after 9pm too by default, but as soon as Comet was in his carrier, she got fresh water, a big bowl of crunchies and a whole packet of food!

  2. Poor Leela; it's tough being a big sister sometimes. Hugs and scritches for Comet.

  4. Aw Comet... it'll be over soon. Snuggles and headbonks

  5. Vet just called and they're about to start. His temp is up a bit but she said he is very nervous. He has been fine lately and showing no signs of illness so we are satisfied that the elevated temp is due to nerves.

  6. (((Comet))) You won't remember a thing, baby boy...we promise! Mama does what she does out of love...I'm sure Leela doesn't mind being the "only kitteh" again for the day though! LOL

  7. TLC smoochies and scritches for Comet, you are a big boy now! Purrs & headbonks for Leela on her "me" time at home!

  8. Awwwww, it will be okay, Comet. LOL, Siobhan on your "snip snip" reference. Maybe lil Comet will calm down some :) Hoping all goes well!

  9. Awwwww Comet...Sweetie, it will be over in no time and then you can be back home with your family. Extra loves and scritches to Comet! Fred and Cricket send headbonks.

Leela honey, enjoy your time without your brudder...I know he can be a pain and you need your "me" time. But remember he's a good kit :)

  10. The vet called a little while ago. All went well, and he's been microchipped as well. I'll pick him up late this afternoon.
Back home, Leela is probably looking around every corner expecting him to jump out at her!

  11. Thanks for the update Joan; you know how we all worry.

  12. Oh good Joan, I thought he'd be done by now! Glad all went well! He will be so happy to see you and Leela!

  13. Thanks for big boy Comet's update!

  14. Yay for Comet having a successful spa day! Have you brought him home yet? Has Leela realized he's back home?

    Posted 1 year ago by Duchess&&Gabriel #

  15. We're home, and were happy till the collar went on. He's adjusting, though. We have pain meds but have to wait till tomorrow. Bummer though, 'cause I think the injection he got before he came home is wearing off. The first night is always the roughest!
Leela is just following him around, observing and giving him her whine/growl thing.
Comet says thank you for the good wishes, and asks for food and someone willing to take this stupid collar off to please come to the wormhole!

Oh, and Leela thoroughly enjoyed her "me" time today!

  16. Poor Comet! Leela probably wonders why he smells "odd" now...... Then growls. LOL I remember Perry after he was done, was SO upset and was glued to Emilie (he was HER cat at the time!) Gavin and his brother were fine, no big deal. They had a different vet though. I guess that can make a big difference.
Glad he is home now and thanks for posting to let us know how he is doing. I was wondering. :)

  17. Yay for Comet and boy spa days! Hester agrees with you Comet! She thinks all collars belong in the trash! The collar is probably affecting Leela as well -- who is the Pixar kitty? Comet is!!! Hugs and purrs to all!

  18. Comet, I hope you and your Meowmy had a good night, not too much pain and yowling. If your big sister giggles at your rear end just ignore her.

  19. Aww, Comet, Libs sends gentle headbonks and licks, she hated that stoopid collar too. She had to wear a dog's one as they didn't have any for cats, it was WAY too big for her and it kept getting stuck on the ground :( So she knows how you feel, grrrrrrrr, dumb hoomins.

  20. Awwww, so happy Comet's spa adventure is over and that he's back home where he belongs! I have never had to use a collar for any of my cats....I guess they didn't do that years ago (??) Well, that was in the dark ages....
    HUGS to Comet and Leela!

  21. Hugs to Comet...poor baby...the collar is such a pain. Don't worry, it will come off soon.
Leela..I am so glad you enjoyed your me time. :) I have to go and spend the morning at Maddie's school and Cricket will be upstairs hiding from our babysitter for Abbie, so if you want to come over, you and her can do each others nails, fur and have fun. There is food and water up there as well as a litter tray :)

  22. LOL at CM's re-interpretation of Spa Day :-) SPA DAY for lady kitties at CM'S! Angel Tansey will bring refreshments for all the girlkits... Hermes will be your masseuse (so he can steal looks at Leela).

Posted 1 year ago by Siobhan #

  23. Well we got thru the dreaded first night! His collar is much smaller than the one Leela got so he can get around a bit easier than what she had to endure. Gave pain meds and resumed feeding this morning. He's trying to figure out how to get at the food and making a total mess, lol! Last night he snored so loud on the bed hubby went to the other room; now he knows how I feel! Everything seems to be normal, though. :)
Leela would love to hang out at her pal Cricket's place, thank you! She knows she will get a big brother hug from Fred and a special hug from Hermes and hopes to get a glimpse of Angel Tansey. She found out where mama hid the extra special treats she got for Christmas so she will bring them.

  24. That's great to hear! How come he got a collar? Is it to prevent him from looking back there? Duchess didn't get one, however I was worried abit when she didn't get one.

    Posted 1 year ago by Duchess&&Gabriel #

  25. (((Comet))) It's OK, baby boy. Mama will take good care of you and you'll be racing around again in no time.

Can Georgie come hang out with his across-the-Hudson neighbor Leela and the rest of the gang?

  26. Spice takes the wormhole to CM's place and knocks on the door. she has a large box of catnip cookies with her and is quickly invited in. "Thank you for rescuing me from that tag team of trouble, Catarina and Melinda. They upset my schedule most of the time..."

Other kitties with troublesome siblings nod, knowing what Spice is going through. they give her headbutts and kitty kisses.

  27. "Come on over Georgie!" Leela yells thru the wormhole, as Spice tumbles in. "Hi Spice!"

The e-collar seems to be SOP for the hospital I use, although I was a bit surprised they issued one to a boy, as neutering is much less invasive than spaying. Reason being that if there's excessive licking/chewing etc, the site could become infected. They also told me no clay litter, interesting. I'm guessing that clay litter could adhere to the site and cause a blockage or infection. They recommended "Yesterday's News" - shredded newspaper but I think my stuff is ok. "Swheat Scoop" is wheat based and dust free and the box says that it is approved for newly declawed cats. So I'm interpreting that to mean that it is acceptable for it to come in contact with a wound/surgical site. (Sorry about using the "d" word.)

  28. Spice asks Leela if she has her claw polish with her, and if so, will Leela do her nails ? "I didn't get a chance to have my nails done at Stubby Louise's party."

  30. "Hi Spice!" *waving* "I would love to do your claws. Remember the last time? Can't remember where were but I remember we couldn't stop giggling about something and I kept getting that weird shade of orange on your fur! Is there a special color you would like? I was thinking of a cheery shade of pink.

I have plenty of noms here, or I can come to your place. Let me know when's good for you. I think everything is all still together from Stubby's place, but I'm going now to make sure. See you later!"

PS: Leela's mama here. Comet seems to be doing ok; the collar is frustrating for him. It's difficult to eat and drink and groom. I've always considered him double jointed and my suspicions are confirmed; he's able to reach the surgical site if he tilts his head just right!
