  1. Happy Sparrow Fart to my fellow early birds and late night owls. I am up to go work out and I think I am crazy. It is below zero out and the girls didn't budge to get off the bed. I think THEY had the right idea. We have lots of warm noms in the buffet today including make your own omelets and crispy cheesey hashbrowns. There are hot beverages for all who NEED them. For our kiwi's there is a/c on and fruits/yogurts/smoothies and all things to cool them down. I am gonna go find another layer to put on and head off to work out. Everyone have a fabulous Friday and I will catch you later! Goodnight to the kiwi's!

  2. MC, you are a much better person than I am; it's snowing here, my head hurts and all my good intentions to go to the gym went poof this morning. I do have a lane at the pool on Sunday and will probably make it to the gym tomorrow.

  3. Morning all. MC and Kilroy, stay safe, warm and dry. We got hit yesterday/last night with snow, so it's dicey today.
Going to try to take the girls to the rec center where they have like 2 hours of play for little kids. The girls have cabin fever and it's easier on mommy too if they get rid of some of that energy.
Went to Maddie's school yesterday and spent the day with her. My friend, Terri, watched Abbie for me. It was interesting to see Maddie in action at school.

  4. That must have been interesting to watch, CM. Does Maddie have lots of friends? (I imagine she must). How's Fishie?

ETA: George says good morning. He just jumped up on the end table and is curled up under his own personal sunlamp :)

  5. awww Good Morning Georgie!! scriches to you beautiful boy.

There are 10 kids in the whole class and Maddie is friends with them all. She's also taller by at least a head to them too. Oy..lol
Abbers is good, feisty! terrible 2's..whoo hoo.

  6. Morning littermates! COLD here in the Mitten State...

Hermes gets such big Happy Butt(tm) in the mornings! He raises the hair on his back, and his tail waves back and forth and boofs out when he really gets going. SOME cats boof when they see a threat...oh no, MY cat boofs when he's happy to see me! (lol)

  7. Morning Siobhan! awww Hermes...you are so precious!! scritches to that furry boy!

Well, Wayne talked me out of taking the girls anywhere...they are still coughing a bit and it's 15 degrees outside. He thinks we should not go anywhere unless necessary. I guess he is right, even the roads stink. I just feel bad for the girls. When they get older, I can dress them warm and let them play in the snow...just not now. Well, I just heard Maddie sneezing a bit, so maybe it's a good thing to stay home.

  8. A good (cold) morning from Iowa! It was below zero when I came to work this morning. I am so glad it's Friday! I've had a tough week of work and just want to relax at home this weekend. I must be a hard sleeper because last night Chance managed to get a wand toy (the wand with long flannel streamer) up on the bed and under my pillow!

Posted 1 year ago by LadyKat of IA #

  9. Hi LK! lol at Chance!! Maybe he wanted to give you good dreams last night.
I know that feeling of wanting to relax! I hope this weekend you get the chance and just chill :)

  10. CM, can you bake cookies or marshmallow treats with the two little sick ones today?

Hubby is gonna cook us up a big old HAM today. Mmmm. Then we'll have leftovers! He suggested making split pea with ham soup. My husband, who doesn't like legumes. (lol) I've managed to work enough so he likes lentil soup (with ham) and pea soup (with ham) but he didn't like the yellow split peas I used last time. They didn't break down as much as green split peas, even using the immersion blender.

We'll also probably make cheesy potatoes with ham, cheese pie with ham, and maybe even ham salad... (licks lips and salivates)

Posted 1 year ago by Siobhan #

  11. Good morning all! Siobhan wow now I am hungry! Cheesy potatoes w/ham. Yum! It is freezing here in PA. I don't think we got as much snow as they predicted. Supposed to be zero tonight. Now thats chilly! Off to have my coffee. Be back later. Stay warm and have a great Friday~~~

  13. MMMMM siobhan, we shall be there for dinner!
We baked cookies yesterday...I am so not creative...trying to think of things to do other than the play with their toys route...
JJB...I hear you...it's below zero with the wind chill...brrrrr I am so ready for spring!
    Hi Katt!!!!

  14. Just saying hi real quick. Been busy busy busy here at w**k and then at home just very down (all the death anniversaries are coming up starting Monday). The year of firsts is almost over, thankfully.

    Love you all,

    Lainey

  15. Morning all. MMMM, too, Sio--you may have several for dinner tonight. Sounds delish! Well, it was 22 below zero when I left work last night---at midnight--ugh. IMHO this place is too cold for human habitation. :( It's "only" about 17 below now. I think this is going to be a big pot of Veggie soup week-end. I would really love a pot of navy bean soup --with ham, of course--but other half won't eat it. Says he had enough of that when he was in the Navy.
Hope everyone has a great Friday and a good week-end. Hope all who are not feeling well get over their illness or get some relief.

  16. Good morning and TGiF! It is currently a balmy 44 degrees here and it is suppose to get up to 65 later today with loads of sunshine. We really could use some more rain but not in the forecast for now. Had department planning meetings all day Wed and Thurs. Had bad dreams last night and so I feel as though I could go back to sleep. Will go to Starbucks to get a grande mocha and a pumpkin scone to help wake me up. My kitties are wrestling right now. Mia attacks Sylvester and he runs and them turns around and body slams her. This doesn't stop Mia as she attacks with even more gusto. And they are off to the the races now. Need to go feed them their morning noms. Have a good day all.

  17. Well we thought the sidewalks weren't too bad, but Mr. K came back 5 minutes after leaving for the gym and said, "I'm walking you to the subway, it's a skating rink out there". And he was right. And he did. I love my husband :)

Has anyone seen Disney's Beauty and the Beast? (CM?) We got it from Netflix last night, I hadn't seen it since it came out, and I'd forgotten how wonderful it is. Now I have fun songs in my head.

Stay warm and safe, everyone in the way of winter.

  19. Morning, morning, morning all! It's cold in Mississippi again! Can we have some snow? K, thanks! Hehe

Working on hats, but decided to take a break for a few minutes (and get a second cup of coffee....yyuummm).
Siobhan - We had ham left over from christmas and made several things with the leftover ham.. hhmmm, enjoy it! I LOVE split pea soup!
Kilroy - I adore the "old" disney movies! The songs are great! Hubby and I are slowly collecting the disney movies for keepsake purposes.

I have a class this afternoon to teach...then two days off :-)

  20. Hi SMM and JK!!

Kilroy, I remember seeing Beauty and the Beast in the movie theatre. It was wonderful. I recently got it for the girls who didn't even pay attention to it, so it will wait till they are a bit older.

Posted 1 year ago by cricketsmama #

  21. I swear, I remembered every word of the dialogue and all of the songs :) It made me really happy to watch it, and I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. K's reaction, he thought it was great. He didn't believe me, though, when I told him that Lumiere the candlestick was Jerry Orbach :)

Posted 1 year ago by Kilroy #

  22. I could see why he wouldn't...he does such a good french accent, I had to listen again to hear Jerry in there :)
I love Angela Landsbury too so I enjoy Mrs. Potts :)

Posted 1 year ago by cricketsmama #

  23. I forgot Landsbury was in that movie... now I want to go watch it! Glad Mr. K enjoyed it!

Posted 1 year ago by Abigail #

  24. Love Mrs. Potts and LOVE Chip ("but I'm not sleeeeepy!") If you want to feel old, consider the fact that the kid who voiced Chip is now 30 :P I know I felt ancient when I read that.

  25. Hi everyone, TGIF!!! Woke to about 4" of new snow. It's very pretty but sloppy driving. The main roads are in pretty good shape, but it's going to get super-cold this weekend so I guess it will all freeze right up. Love the folks who plow/shovel the snow from their driveways into the street. Yep, it's a no-no, but I've yet to see a cop issue a ticket. Then there's the morons who get in their cars and hit the wipers, get on their phones and go. That's 2 big no-no's as well. Ok, I think I'm done venting. :)

  27. It's cold here but sunny today. I'm loving fridays. I only have two work classes so I'm already done for the day. Floor guys are coming later to fix a few pieces of the vinyl flooring we had put down that are coming loose but not until two so I have time to clean up around the house and spend time with Hubby. Cats are happy they're not having to stay up today either. :)

  29. Hi ladies! Yet another snow day off of school today .. that makes 3 this week! It just keeps snowing and snowing. On Monday it's supposed to be really cold. The predicted high is 11 degrees. :( :( The low is -10!! Brrrrrr.

I have this crazy hard seminar class this semester. We have to do an average of 250-300 pages of reading per week for just ONE class! We have presentations, a huge research paper, a really long take home exam, and we have to teach one entire 3 hour class by ourselves using no powerpoints or props - just discussion. I have no idea how I'll lead a 3 hour long seminar without notes and props, and it's going to be so hard reading up to 300 pages per week for this class ontop of everything I have to do for all of my other courses! It's exhausting!

At least we have this snow day.
