  1. Ok, so here we are, Caturday night or Sunday if you are in the southern hemisphere. Wherever you are, I really hope you are well. WE are having only items from the grill tonight. The kits didn't want to make food if business was slow. The chocolate fountain is out with dark, milk and white chocolate flowing. There is also a mama kitteh setting up the soft serve ice cream machine. When it is ready I am going to have a chocolate vanilla twist soft serve cone. Think I am gonna find a movie on pay per view and watch with my girls. Not a lot going on here and I have to go into work for a few hours tomorrow. Stop by and say "Meow" when you have a moment!

  3. Meow for a moment, going to lie back down for a nap. Went to the store for the salsa/pico de gallo makings @ that place tonight and found a ten pound ham for $10 so will make that next week.

Hope that everyone has a good night and I will be back later on this evening.

Posted 1 year ago by Dee #

  5. MC how is your stomach doing now? Hoping that you are feeling better! That ice cream will make you cold--make sure to cuddle by the fire! Sorry you have to work tomorrow!

  8. Was it a coupon deal or a local store? Hoping I can find the same deal. I did get a free ham for Christmas because of a coupon. I got mine at the commissary.

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  9. SM, you are still talking about that free ham?! hahahaha! Hey, I am right there with you...I still talk about my free turkey...haha!

  10. I LOVE ice cream any weather. FF used to tease me something awful. He said I would eat ice cream outside in a blizzard. I can eat ice cream any time, any place! My tummy is mostly better but still a bit touch and go. I have to be close to the bathroom just in case..... LOL Other than that, me and the girls have changed plans, there is hockey on so that is what we are gonna watch. Got a big ice cold diet sprite and am under my Indy Colts blankie with two footwarmers! Have a great night all!

  11. Soxsmom, no it was Fry's aka Kroger's and they had a sale on their ham. I think it was a mistake on their part as the other's were only $10 off the regular price and this one was $21.20 off the reg price. Wouldn't have picked it up otherwise, but it will be a good dinner next week. Haven't heard of the Artic White hot chocolate, will have to look for it.

MC, I can eat ice cream during any weather too :)

I have been having sneezing fits since sitting in Midway Airport yesterday, can't get rid of the dang things. Going to lie back down, ciao for now.

  12. Feel so sorry for this young woman and her children if she has to deal with the estranged husband. The first thing he said after being told that she won the lottery was 'That's awesome, I won't have to pay child support'! Tells you what kind of man he is, hope that she doesn't have to split it with him.

  13. Evening shifters, just popping in briefly. Still have dry feet and finally the rain is leaving, for a while at least. Watch out Jcat and KK, it's coming your way, slowly. Airy and I are about to go outside to pick all the not quite ripe nectarines from the part of the tree that has blown down. Very sad as it's an old fashioned white flesh fruit. At least we still have half a tree left. We also found out what the mystery creakings and thumps were from the early hours. A neighbours tree has dropped some large branches right across our telephone lines. Luckily the last time the linesmen had to put the line in after another tree fell on it they allowed plenty of slack so we are still connected . . for now. Must go and pick the nectarines as the rain and wind have eased.
We'll be looking for hot chocolate when we come back in.

  14. oh, I love nectgarines!........ really good to eat as a snack!......

..... MS, how scary with the phone lines and the tree branches!..... in 2004, when the Charlie, Ivan, Frances hurricanes blew thru here, our power/phone lines were out for 5 days!!!!! it was horrible!...... stay safe, and I hope you stay connected!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  15. MS that is horrible to have the tree down, will the half left survive? Can you do something with the fruit? Hope that the phone lines don't go out. JCat and KK batten down the hatches!!

  16. Slowly coming our way? It's been pouring down here since last night! They've cancelled the final day of 'Wings over Wairarapa', the weather's so bad. I am bundled up in a fleecy sweatshirt and the friend who was coming to lunch will try and make it tomorrow.

So I am whizzing through some work and baking raspberry, chocolate and almond cookies, lol. Cinnamon swirls will follow. Cold weather makes me want to have the oven on and plenty to eat...

Sorry to hear about the nectarine tree, MS. I love nectarines! It is possible to find heritage tree varieties here now, but hopefully yours will survive...

  17. Gotta go, work to finish and cookies to put in the oven...

  18. I made a raspberry and blackberry pie! The blackberries are perfect--the raspberries a little soft and dry--like maybe too many days out. Anyway, I haven't cut the thing yet, but it looks wonderful!!

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  19. yummmmmmm......... I can almost smell those pies, SM!...... *opens* the wormhole, so that the wonderful smells 'waifs' in.....

..... I was perusing my favorites a little while ago, and came across this thread from two years ago...... just an average day, but so funny!..... if you want a good laugh, read about WWM having jury duty, and me in a hotel on a golf weekend!.... hilarious!

  20. Hi, yes MS the wet weather is here - thanks! Can't do anything outside today so did more sorting of the spare room. More books and PC games headed to the book fair box. Got the sewing machine out for miniKK yesterday and she seems quite enthusiastic about making something - not sure what. Need Airy to come down here and get her going on it. I can't really sew anything from a pattern very well - left that all to mum to do as she was the dressmaker! I have been playing PC games for awhile but have just printed off the baked courgette risotto recipe from the thread the other day to make for dinner. Your pie would go very nicely with it SM!

  21. All the nectarines on the downed branches are now picked, mostly green unfortunately. Airy and I soaked to the bone, had to shower and get into dry clothes. We went out when the rain had eased but it turns out that was eased as in comparison to pouring. We were soaked in seconds! HRH watched us from under the grape vine but she too ended up soaking and required rubbing down.
Wow KK, the room will look so different. Get miniKK some remnant scraps and Google some simple sewing item, I'm sure you can both work it out. What's a pattern? just like what is music, do it by ear and have fun. We're having Jcat's courgette fritters again tonight with some(checks for HM, shhhhh) bacon in them.

  22. AV I remember reading that--I was so sick and that made me laugh--and now I am in tears!! Good to laugh again at TDK antics AND to know that haing fun is WAY better than complaining about the problem!! Thanks to all on that thread--but especially FH--I think I almost died remembering TUSH!

  23. LOL SM!... yes, the teacher's 'union'!!!! LOL....

... MS, we've had a lot of rain here lately too, in central Fla...... I wish we both could send some to AZ and Texas, they really need it!....

... my mother was a wonderful seamstress, and made the most BEAUTIFUL smocking that you have ever seen!.... she made Dau so many cute little dresses when she was born, they are amazing!..... over the years (Dau is 20 now), I've given these 'special' dresses out to friends and family that have had little girls!......MS, I have a little infant dress with Meegz's name on it when the time comes.......

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  24. AV, when I was putting stuff away in the spare room, including baby clothes and childrens' books etc I must say I also had Meegz in mind! I have the cutest little T-shirt for a boy with a lighthouse on the front!

MS, I had some scraps of material for miniKK to play with and we'll have to make a trip to Spotlight soon. There are no fabric places anywhere near us or near where I work in town so it will have to be a special trip. This coming Friday she is coming in to town for a haircut at my usual salon, a trip to the opshop she fell in love with recently and then we're getting her ears pierced again. Mommy and me day!

  26. Is there rumor of an expanding family????

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  27. Oh, you mean the Jolly Jumper MS? It's one of those baby seat things you hang from a door frame. It has a big spring and they can bounce up and down. I got it from MS when miniKK was little and I believe she used it for Meegz and Airy.

Posted 1 year ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  28. Definitely no rumour yet SM, they only just bought a house 2 days ago. I think AV is getting clucky by proxy!
Yes the Jolly Jumper KK, it was the one we used for the girls and seems right that it would be used on the next generation.
Gotta go out into the wind and rain for a while, I'll be back on later. I've you're heading for bed before I return then sweet dreams and I'll look out for you tomorrow.

  29. *hangs head in shame*.....didn't mean to start 'rumors'...... no, I have no knowledge of a mini Meegz..... only MS will have that!...... I'm just saying, that 'when the time comes'.... (and it could be years)...... I'll have a great gift to pass on to her!....... my Mom (MUM) was/is such a special and talented person, that I have a lot of beautiful 'heirlooms' to share!
