  2. Morning, MC! How are you today? I went to the gym today but had zero energy and didn't last long. Will try again tomorrow; I think 2 days in a row is too much at this point. I do have a lane reserved at the pool on Tuesday.

  3. Morning...watching the CBS news here at 10:30 am and the fly-overs of jets in Egpyt... scary stuff.

I think I might be coming down with a cold, so I want to rest and take a healthy dose of medicinal kitty luv (take a nap).

    Y'all have a good day.

  4. Morning MC, Kilroy and Siobhan and anyone else that comes in.

So sad about the unrest in Egypt these past few days, wishing that peaceful resolution would come about for all the people.

Siobhan, rest and take a good restful nap, just getting over whatever I have now.

  5. I read this morning that vandals finally got into the Egyptian Museum; ordinary people tried to protect it as soon as the rioting started, and then the army was protecting it, but the vandals finally got in; they tore the heads off 2 mummies. Mr. K and I visited the museum when we were there, it was very impressive.

Hope you feel better quick, Sio!

  6. Sorry I got taken away by laundry, then litter boxes, then dishes......no Hazel. How am I? Sick as a dog. I have the "flu" or whatever it is that is going around. Went to the local clinic this morning and they said to stay hydrated and rest. Didn't give me anything as they said it doesn't respond to antibiotics. I forgot to pick up thera-flu so I am just gonna see how I feel in a day or two.

  7. i just had a grilled cheese and ham sandwich for breakfast. and now i'm sucking down a large hot chocolate. i take 1 regular packet of cocoa mix and add dry milk, unsweetened cocoa, and Splenda to make a larger drink. it is very good.

my wish for today is that you get better from this "flu" thing very fast. i understand what it is like to not feel well, but vicodin and cymbalta take care of most of my misery. the doctors need to get your brain better. we want you to live a long, happy healthy life...

  8. MC when you went to the clinic did you tell them that you have been like this for over 2 weeks? With all you hae described this has been going on for quite awhile. There are no medicines to cure a virus, but there are plenty of medications that you can use to hold down food and a variety of medications that could help with your other symptoms. Prayers that you are able to finally rid this virus and you can boost your immune system. It is horrible enough to deal with the constant headaches, but to not be able to shake this virus is even more than you should have to deal with.

  9. ..... stumbles into the Cafe and plops down in a big comfy chair!..... whew! I'm exhausted!.... cleaned the yard, bathrooms, kitchen, vacumned and dusted..... started laundry, changed the bird cage...... there's still the wood floors to mop (I got them vacumned) and the front porch to hose down and straighten up........ I'm loosing steam fast!.... no thanks to that lazy no-show, Hazel!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  10. My goodness AV. Take a break! Wood floors dont need all that much mopping any way. Especially if they've been vaccuumed already . . .

  11. Hello MC, Kilroy, Sio, Deb, SK, SM, AV & Sky! One of the cats, the boy, I think, almost experienced the wrath of the vacuum cleaner - all I saw was a blur of black! Hope you feel better MC & Sio. I've got a stew going in the slow-cooker - beef with a mushroom cream broth with potatoes & veggies.

  12. Oh wow that sounds yummy!

Hi joan! I dont think anyone else is still around.

Posted 1 year ago by Skyron #

  13. Hiya Sky! I should have gotten it going earlier, but hopefully it will be ready for dinner - going to add the celery, carrots & potatoes now.
The sun came out today. It's fairly warm (a very relative term); not quite enough to melt 3' of snow, but enough to melt the icicles off the house!

  14. Hello everyone, just back from attending a one year old's birthday party :) Stopped at a yard sale and found......a Gasparilla (?) cookbook :) Actually the people had over 600 cookbooks that they were selling for .50 cents each, so of course picked up a few.

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  15. Been sucking in the liquids like a sponge (hot chocolate right now) :-) and gonna have a good dinner of hot and sour soup, eggroll, and 'leftovers' in fried rice. Num.

I went to the store and got a dark chocolate cake mix and dark chocolate frosting. I also had to buy sanitary wear, it's 'that time' again. Ugh.

I'll probably be home tomorrow, I wandered aimlessly around the grocery store, even with my list (lol) so I know I can't concentrate on my work.

  16. Hi Deb - how funny that you should find a Gasparilla cookbook. I seriously need to get rid of some cookbooks that I never use. I also have a couple of years worth of Cuisine magazines that need to go as I never use any recipes from them anymore. I'll put them all out in the box for the bookfair later this year. I was looking at a cookbook at the weekend that I haven't used for years and decided I will force myself to put something on the meal plan from it next week and will try to do the same with a couple of other cookbooks that have lapsed into disuse.

  17. KK, I thought it was funny too, I had never heard of Gasparilla until TDK and seeing the cookbook just made me smile. I had finally gave away most of my cookbooks since I didn't use them, found a couple today that I will give to others though. My main cookbooks now are the slow cooker Fix-it-and-Forget-it ones.

  18. I've found with the Internet, and all the cooking sites, I rarely go to my collection of 50 or so cookbooks. For some reason, I'm hanging on to them. Maybe 10, I would consider to keep for ole times sake....the rest are just taking up space in the cabinet.

  19. Same here, 12pawzinfl .... started a home cookbook with my favorite recipes in it rather than have cookbooks that only have a few recipes I like in them.

Ok its just past 3 pm and I haven't been to sleep yet, starting an hour early shouldn't make a big difference but it sure has been. So Ta Ta and Toodle Lu for now, be back a bit later :)

  20. Bye Deb.
12Pawz, I have four folders of recipes I have cut out of magazines and I need to be ruthless and go through them and throw out recipes I have never and will never make! And then be more selective about ones I keep in future. I have a whole bookcase in the kitchen for recipe books and once I get rid of the Cuisine magazines I will have room for the new magazine I subscribe to which I do use frequently for recipes. MS bought me a subscription a couple of years ago and it is a Health Eating Guide magazine with excellent advice and recipes.

  21. Deb!!!!.....who knew!!!! you found a 'Gasparilla' cookbook???...... that was the original 'Junior League of Tampa' 's cookbook !!!!!! that is a FIND!..... LOL.... I of course, have my Grandma's Gasparilla cookbook that is old with age!..... you should keep that, it might be worth something! ( at least to many in this area!)....... how funny that you would find one of those!

  22. It's a matter of getting seriously organized....unfortunately not my forte. Have the tools to do so.... that is a loose leaf binder(s) and a hole punch, plus the separators to categorise. I, too, have many clippings.....why is it so hard to cut the cord???
AV... I too, have several Junior League cookbooks from different cities in the country.....going back 40 something years. Those I would not part with.

  23. ... the stats are just coming in, but the news are reporting over 400,000 to 500,000 people at the parade yesterday!....... no surprise, it was PACKED!!!..... how do you host that many people past your yard, and still leave it in tact?????..... thus my yellow tape of yesterday!... LOL

  24. Hi all! Just got up from 'catnap' and had a nice cup of double chocolate cocoa. Unfortunately it burned going down my throat. But the warmth was nice. Now I am gonna read for a bit and then watch the ProBowl and then bed.

  25. 12P, you and me both!.... I love all the old cookbooks and tips from that era!.... my grandma was alive then, and she gave me so much helpful tips for being the great cook I am today!..... I LOVE her!!!... and funny thing is, she has recieps in the Gasparilla cookbook!...... it's all good!

  27. We had a nice bout of rain last night. Pouring at times. Love the sound of the rain and being at home with two cuddly kitties. It helps to have already gone out earlier when it was before the rain to get some groceries. Just ate some nice farfalle with four different cheeses and spinach from Trader Joes for a late lunch. It is a new item and boy is it tasty! Registering with two new temp agencies Mon and Tues. Received unemployment info with claim approved. I am hoping I will get to cancel the claim before they have a chance to send out the first check. Trying to stay positive but I have moments where I feel frustrated and a bit down. It is kind of like grieving. The feelings come and go and hopefully will lessen with time.

  28. Back up of course and couldn't sleep much, wish that I could do something about that. So 'Hey everyone' that I didn't get a chance to see before :)

AV, thanks for that link on the cookbook, will have to check the edition tomorrow. The couple that had the yard sale had over 600 cookbooks and many dating back quite a few years, a lot of Junior League ones from all over. He is a retired Marine and of course they traveled all over. I thought you would have one of the copies from either your Grandmother or Mother :)

12Pawzinfl, for my loose leaf folder, I use document protectors to put the recipes in (keeps them clean when I lie them near the stove) and/or put smaller recipes on copying paper with tape and then insert into the document protectors. That way I don't have torn edges or paper holes tearing, just an idea.

  29. Hi everyone!!
Did SMM get laid off from her job or just looking for a new one? I may have missed something. She mentioned an unemployment check???
