  2. KyKat, here is my 'special' receipe that my cousin and I made up, and it's now my signature 'bring to' dish .....

    AV's Kitchen sink salsa

1 small can lesure green peans drained
1 small can white corn drained
1 regular can black beans drained and rinsed
    2-3 spring onions chopped fine
    3/4 cup fresh tomatoes diced
2 tlb. fresh cilantro chopped fine
1 small can (or 1/2 cup) diced jalapenos drained
    3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

    Dressing:
    1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
    3 level tlb sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp ground pepper
    1/2 cup veg. oil

Put all ingredients in bowl, except feta and cilantro. Mix dressing well and then mix with salsa. Refridgerate overnight, or for at least an hour. To serve, drain in a collander, then mix in feta and fresh cilantro.

SERVE WITH FRITOS SCOOPS CORN CHIPS!!! note * we've tried them with all kinds of tortilla chips, crackers and other things, but take my word for it, the fritos scoops are the best! not only does the taste go the best, but they are the sturdiest chip, that holds up with this hardy salsa....... enjoy!

  3. My other dish: this one is sweet/savory .......

    1 block manouri cheese
    1/2 cup dried figs chopped
    1/2 cup dried apricots
    1/2 cup sliced almonds
    1 cup good honey
    cinnamon gram crackers

mix dried fruit and honey, and mound up on block of cheese. Drizzel extra honey over the top. serve with cinnamon gram crackers

  4. We're having fried chicken tomorrow for dinner, leftovers for early Sunday afternoon. Actual party fare are piled-high thin-sliced corn beef sammies on whole grain bread, coleslaw, homemade potato chips, big dill pickle, any leftover sides from the fried chicken meal :-) and maybe a cake or brownies.

    Pretty tame.
