  1. madcatwomanin,

sorry to hear about titch. What was wrong with him?
I believe the love of an animal can bring the best out of people!

  2. Save your fingers jw, call me MCW!

Titch was a lovely, fat (he didn't suit his name!!) tabby & white, who had kidney failure and died in September 2005. He was 15.5, and I'd had him since he was 8 months. He'll always have a special place in my heart, but I wouldn't be without our current family, crazy as they are at times!!

As I said, Pickle & Button are sisters who we got about four months after we lost Titch. Pickle is all black and quite small, but with a huge miaow, whilst Button is a beautiful calico, complete with black bandit mask over her eyes. They are both 2.5. Eric is 2, another all black, who we got from a rescue organisation after his former owners were terribly cruel to him - two hip fractures caused by being thrown down stairs, and each time they left it a week before taking him to a vet.

We also have a fourth cat - Bones - who is a very tottery nearly 19 year old black & white cat. He was my Mum's; she was very ill and in and out of hospital a lot last year, so he came to live with us. That's permanent now, as Mum has moved into a residential home, but she comes to see him at least once a week.

  3. my hubby wasn't a cat guy either, until he met me. I only had one cat when I met him, my beloved Sebastian, who is since gone to Rainbow Bridge, but he fast became a kitty guy. When we brought Cricket home, she was only 8 weeks old and he was so protective. She's almost 3(this June) and he still calls her baby kitty.
JW it took us a few days to figure out a name for Cricket. Fred was my mother's cat so he was prenamed, but we call him Bubby usually. I threw out so many names...I went on the internet and did a search on cat names. We even bought a book of cat names! waste of money, I saw the name Cricket and it just was right.
You will know the right name when you hear it. Maybe you can name him something elegant since he is a tuxie(in a tuxedo)...he's a dapper little guy......let us know when you decide

  4. MCW,

thats terrible, how can anyone do that to a poor cat? If you dont want it, at least give it away to someone who will take care of it, dont abuse it! I cant believe some of the people in this world, im amazed!! But at least he has you now as a momma!
    That just breaks my heart...
I had to read that part about ur 4th cat about 4 times to make sure you actually said 19-years old. WOW! He's the same age as me :) and I thought its been a long 19 years I can only imagine how longs its been for him

    CricketsMama,

Ur hubby sounds like a nice daddy, like i said it takes an animal to bring the best out of us. I searched and searched but am done, because nothing sounds right. Since the kitten is so attatched to wayne, I told him he can name the kitty. Wayne went a bought the kitty its own litter box, cuz the one we already have is kinda too tall for kitty.

Kitty has stopped meowing constantly but throws out a few here and there. Overall, he is becoming more sociable and is coming out of hiding. ;)

  5. jw...I'm glad to hear that your newest baby is starting to settle in. It's a good feeling when they decide that they like us enuf to adopt us & their new enviroment. Enjoy your new addition. <^..^>

  6. jw88, congrats on the newest addition to your family. You should put your pictures of your other fuzzbutts on www.catster.com and then put that url into your profile on www.dailykitten.com and then everyone shares them when you are logged in. Your bf sounds like a keeper too, tell him that 'crazy cat-lady' is just a myth....one never hears about the 'crazy dog-person' do they, lol. Its only because like the old saying, cats have staff, dogs have masters.

  7. jw88, I confess I am up late today but could not wait to see how Baby (I hate to just call him kitty) is doing. No surprise here, they always respond to love and that is exactly what had happened. Awesome job. Yes, it sounds like he loves your Wayne...how about letting Wayne name him? It likely will bring them even closer together. Love the photos of you , Wayne and your babies. I think Wayne may be a closet kitty lover! From those photos, he seems quite taken by them!! I met my husband when we were 15 (that was now, let's see, 30 years ago) and he was not an animal person...his mother did not allow any such thing in the house. Now , he is just as bad as I am (we have 7 kitties!)...especially after a few kitties bonded mostly with him. Together with our 2 sons, he has portraits of all our kitties in his office! Just like you, they are family. I think you have found the right place her (I know I have), it seems we all have that love for our furry babies in common.

  8. Oops, I guess I ran out of space...sorry. Can't wait to hear how Baby #2 is doing. I'm still praying that the others are found.
Enjoy today with your new addition. Great job!!

  9. baby #2 has found a new home with my moms neighbor. hopefully she can work with the kitty to make it feel safe and secure (loved as well of course).
wayne came up with the name Domino, i agreed and thought it was cute.
thank u for all ur beautiful comments tigerlilly, i feel like i found a new family here on The Daily Kitten. I made a catster page actually lol but got quiet frutrated with it uploading pictures but am planning on trying again here soon. Domino (yay he has a name) is doing great and is just patiently waiting for wayne to come back home.

7 kitties is alot...but in a couple months I will probably have about 7 ( i hope wayne doesnt read this haha, he gonna run away :)

  10. I love the name Domino. Kisses little Domino! Being a boy, he probably prefers that from me calling him Baby!!

Posted 4 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  11. Im sure he will like his new name, since i have been callin him baby lol like u said im sure he will prefer domino :)

    Posted 4 years ago by jwerner88 #

  12. Domino is a great name JW. Glad to see your boyfriend has a buddy and that the other kitty is doing well

  13. Excellent name jw!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  14. Thanks :)

I also forgot to tell you all about my boy alex. who ive had since august 30th. when i found him he was only a few weeks old. little but boy did he have some nasty bugs on him. he was in bad health but wayne and I spent 10 hours with him in the bath tub picking this big red bugs off of him. there had to be about 100. it was terrible. but my mother had taken the other sibblings home with her. so we have all the babies..every once in awhile we reunite them..but i dont think they pick up on the whole brotherly thing. im just glad we have them :)

    Posted 4 years ago by jwerner88 #

  15. Awesome name. I love it!! Domino..so cute!!
Poor Alex, but again, you and Wayne stepped up and he has found his furever home. I am so glad there are animal lovers like me out there!!! Yeah for Alex!

Posted 4 years ago by cricketsmama #

  16. Like I said before jw88, Wayne must be a closet kitty lover. Not many men would help out picking 100 bugs off a kitty. You are indeed another of us rescue people...it's great to have one more! Thank you for alex (another great name, my oldest son is Alexander). I'm sure he's been well worth the effort.

Posted 4 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  17. it took me awhile to bond with alex because he bonded with ginger first. but once they got a little older and more settled with eachother he started coming around. now he is the most cuddlest kitten ive ever had. he is my baby!!
I wish there was something I could do to save the whole world, save every animal from being abused or neglected? it just breaks my heart. I care about people, but honestly, i would be lieing if i said id pick a person over an animal. I agree, with u tigerlilly when u said not many men would do that. it was also for gingers sake, now thank god we only found a new of those bugs on ginger. When i first brought alex home i automatically took him into the bathroom and bathed him. but i did not see these bugs for about 2 weeks. so i bleached my whole apartment hoping to kill all the eggs. it was a nightmare. but we were clean and had no more bugs. Im so thankful for my babies :) they mean the world to me

    Posted 4 years ago by jwerner88 #

  18. alex wasent even my choice..i actually thought it was a girl for a couple weeks so i had the name amirah picked out.. found out it was a boy so i let wayne come up with the name. i wouldnt of ever picked alex..but actually im glad we did cuz it suits him perfectly. now i would even concider naming a child of mine alex or alexander

    Posted 4 years ago by jwerner88 #

  19. Yes, you could do that with Alex...if I called any child of mine Pickle or Button, I'd probably be charged with cruelty! ;-)

My husband was very adamant that our cats wouldn't have human names - but as I said, Eric already had his name, and it does suit him!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  20. HAHA!! Sure would be interesting growing up with the name pickle. How silly :)

i made a catster page and added my kitties but dont know how to find anyone...im still new

  21. Hi, MCW!!! Guess the car boot sale got canceled, huh? We had our kitty Skimbleshanks for almost 18 years and you certainly wouldn't name a child that! But I had to take him to the vet once when the vet gave me a prescription for Skimble that was also a "people medicine". I took it to Walgreens to have it filled and didn't think much about how the Rx was written. But then came an announcement over the loudspeaker "Skimbleshanks, your prescription is ready". So I had to slink to the pick-up window where the pharamacist asked me "Are you Skimbleshanks????". From then on I learned to always tell them that it was a prescription for my kitty and I was only picking it up for him because he had trouble reaching the steering wheel.....

    Posted 4 years ago by jwerner88 #

  23. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Car boot sale would have been tomorrow morning WWM, But it's still raining...planning on next Sunday or the Sunday after now. Had a more productive day you'll be glad to hear, and am feeling much more positive.

  24. I'm so glad, MCW. It's a testiment to the power of chocolate, right? :-) I hope that you didn't have to spend all day at the flat and that there was some time for relaxing!

Posted 4 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  25. my ginger is wierdly attracted to fleece...she likes to lick it and she is very persistant...i dont understand lol..so usually she has to crawl under blankets to eat my fav. pajama's...is my cat wierd or normal? someone tell me their cats like to lick cloths too..even when they are clean or im not wearing them and they are on the ground. i usually have to hid fleece..

  26. 2 hours at flat, 2 hours doing job stuff - rest of day at leisure!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  27. Excellent!!!!

  28. About names...I have a confession to make. I picked the name Alexander for our first son. I left the middle name up to my husband. I was 8 months pregnant and still no middle name.I pressured my husband to decide...he picked Corey, after our cat Coricocat! We just lost Cori last year (he was 18 and he had been thrown out like garbage in a paper bag in the middle of winter in Boston with his sister as week old kittens). Recently, for his honors English class Alexander had to write an essay about his name...he did include the origin of his middle name...I wonder what the teachers thought!
jw88, I know exactly how you feel about animals vs people. The way I see it, animals need more advocates and that's why we are here. Some of the sad stories in TDK that I know are going to be upsetting, I can't even read, because I literally become ill.

Posted 4 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  29. jw88 , if you just click on those of us that have pink names that will take you directly to our catster pages so you can see our babies. I'm still decorating mine as with 7 kitties it's quite time consuming; plus I'm not very good with computers so my 12 yr old son takes care of it for me.

Posted 4 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  30. Yet about the cat names: If you just google 'cat name' you'll find a bazillion sites which offer at least a gigabazillion names but NONE of them seems to be right!!! The mysteries of the Internet I guess... :(
