  1. Hi 2p! Feel like I haven't seen you for a while. How are you?

  2. *Plops down* I have the worst insomnia and I just can't sleep! Now it's 4pm and I am exhausted from head to toe but just can't sleep. My neurosurgeon offered sleeping pills but I am allergic to most of them and the ones I am not put me in a coma and I walk around in a daze all the next day (so its not worth it). I really hate this side of chiari. No sleepy! :(

  3. Hi Kilroy !!! I'm doing OK. I have been mostly lurking, so you haven't seen me in a while. Thank you for asking !

Sorry about the insomnia MC. It's not something I can remotely relate to. I often have the opposite problem... falling asleep too early!

  4. Oy, Mcat...how about a couple of purring kit-nurses like Betty & Wilma...maybe that would help!
Me, I have to get Crockey back from Georgies now for it is almost quitting time in Brewtown...later!

  6. Afternoon/evening littermates, I'm so proud of you all for continuing on with the "bean thing". It was just a mad moment from KK & I(typical of us two)but so much fun.
I'm off to have my lunch now on this cloudy hot and humid day.

  8. LOL, I bought beans today, lovely green string beans.

  9. .... I love green string beans!.... definitely one of my families' staple green vegetables!..... I'm constantly experimenting with different ways to cook them........ so far, some of my favs are:

..... make my own version of 'green bean casserole' with fresh green beans
..... use pole beans and simmer them for hours with ham hock and a good stock
..... sautee them quickly, then add fresh tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms
..... sautee them with lemon zest and white wine.....

oh, they are a multi-versitle vegetable!

  10. I saw a recipe for beans and bacon on the 100's of bacon recipe thread site AV. Just haven't figured out what a 'snibbled' bean is yet.

  11. Av, that sounds yummy! .

I'm beginning to wonder if insomnia is a virus you catch from spending too much time lurking on tdk . . . This is ridiculous! I have a big day at work tomorrow, and here I am, 2:15 am, not sleeping :( I went to bed at 11pm like a good healthy person should . . . I'm giving up on that now. Healthy people can keep their 8 hours of sleep a night. Me? I'm fine with 3-5 hours a night. I tried, really, i did.

  12. Hi ms! I have never, ever even heard of a snibbled bean before. Maybe its a bean with the sniffles??

MS, I think a snibbled bean is just a green bean snapped - the receipe above sounds similar!..... I like mine that way too! (I'm also a bacon addict)

Sky, sorry about the insomnia! no fun!.... I have many friends that really struggle with that!...... my grandmother always told me, "the best medicine for not being able to sleep is exercise or hard work.... either way, it wears you out and you sleep like a baby!"........ she was very wise!

  14. OK, so I had to search on "snibbled green beans" and what I found was this http://www.rainforestmotorinn.com.au/Snibble.pdf

It's a restaurant at a motor inn in Queensland, and they do have a green bean salad.

  15. LOL at the thought of a bean with sniffles. Sky have you tried singing to yourself quietly in your head. That helps with me and CBM suggested it to MC.
AV, those sound like great recipes, I like the sound of the sautee ones.

  16. I absolutely love beans! Any kind of bean really!

  17. My body is tired, i had 2 hours of sleep yesterday. I just cant get my head to shut up!?! It gets really confusing if i have a whole week like this - there is no yesterday or tomorrow, it all feels like one super long day . . .

Do you by any chance have an idea for green bean soup av? I've tried it a few times, and it always ends up tasting like potatoe. I figure the potatoe (i usually use just one) thickens up the consistency of the soup, and i always end up with what tastes like green potatoe soup . . .

  18. Well snibbled beans sound delicious and may well appear on our dinner plates tonight.
I'm off for a wee rest, I had a disturbed night with lots of leg pain. Hopefully I'll see you all later, if not then sweet dreams to you all.

  19. hmmmmm Sky, never made green bean soup!...... I have however, made delicious asparagus soup and believe it or not, celery/pear soup......... both of those are pretty much simmered with a good stock and then purreed into a thick yumminess.... I serve both with a nice dallop of marscapone cheese and sour cream, respectively, on top!
