So it is the second day of Duchess and Gabriel coexisting in the house in two different rooms though. I usually bring Duchess in the living room because when she does escape and get into the front of the house she never goes in there. So I brought her in with her food and placed it about 2 feet away from the enclosed Gabriel who was currently munching on some treats. He completely ignored her.
She would not stop staring at him, and she only moved slightly closer to him before backing off. No hissing, and no raised fur. I gave her lots of attention and loving, but needless to say I think she is terrified of him.
He wants to play usually but she stays far away out of fear. The moment she leaves the room whether it's by me taking her out and she runs out she's perfectly happy and begging for attention.
Any suggestions on how to ease the terror and to help her realize he's a nice kitten?
I'm thinking about moving them into adjoining rooms our bed and study he'd be in the bedroom in his crate when we're not home and her in the study. So she can sniff him out better. I'd also be using a feliway diffuser. Is this a good idea? Any advice is appreciated, and the advice that has been given I appreciate it also very much.
