  1. I was on itchmo and saw this thread: http://itchmoforums.com/news-recall-related/fda-enforcement-report-feb-16-2011-iams-recall-expanded-t12608.0.html As one person said apparently 60 and 2500 must mean the same thing to a pfc.

I am a lurker here so most everyone doesn't know who I am ... however I decided to start this topic in case someone that is on TDK feeds Iams. My own vet said to me to not feed my kitty any dry food and avoid the proctor and gamble products as well as nutro and hills science diet ... now I am very glad I listened to them.

  5. We've been feeding canned nutro, natural choice (not the max cat) because I find the ingredient list to be impressive for the price. Did your vet say why not nutro?

  6. Hello-

My name is Jenifer, and I work for The Iams Company. I know there is some confusion on the Enforcement Report that the FDA just posted on their site February 17,2011. We do not know why the FDA delayed posting the report on their site.

This recall took place last summer, and the issue is over and the product in question in no longer on the shelf. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at 1-800-535-8387 M-F 9am – 6pm EST.

    Thank you!

  7. She said it was not fit for a carnivore. Nutro has constant recalls as well as having a lot of plant ingrediants. Hills, although they don't have lots of recalls, again has really bad ingrediants. P&G Iams again has bad ingrediants and then animal cruelty charges.

She gave me a list of grain free brands of wet food, I can find it back, if you want me to post it. She feeds her own pets a raw diet but I am not ready for that yet.

  8. Thanks, AS. For now I'm sticking with what I can find at PetSmart which I believe only offers Wellness for grain free. That is unsettling about the Nutro recalls for sure. I'll keep reading labels and see what I think is best.

  9. Amarillo sky,
You are very fortunate to have a vet so knowledgeable concerning the proper diet for carnivores! So many are not aware that dry kibble is not a species appropriate diet for felines.
This website is written by a vet: www.catinfo.org
For those that are feeding their cats dry "food," PLEASE read the section: "My Cat Is Doing Just Fine On Dry Food." There is a lot of great info as to why dry kibble is not a good diet for felines.
Please, people, feed your felines a HEALTHY wet food. Not Iams. Read the ingredients list. Most of their products contain by-products, among other ingredients not suitable for cats or dogs.
