  1. I have never had a cat before and am concerned. I just got my 5 1/2 month old kitten spayed yesterday and brought her home the same night. Today, the day after her surgery she is back to herself pretty much. She has jumped onto my couch and a window sill already. She missed the window sill except for with her front paws and then let go. I know the vet says to keep her still and I am concered she is going to rip open her stitches somehow. Is this normal and okay for her to be this jumpy? Any advice is appreciated she is m baby and I worry about her. Thank you

  2. They are supposed to be quiet and calm afterwards, but no one tells the kittehs that :) Just watch her and try not to do things to excite her, good luck with that. Welcome to TDK.

  3. Unfortunately it is normal. It doesnt make sense that they bounce back so fast, and not all of them do. I've had it happen with a few my girly kitties. Try to restrict her movement as much as you can, but i know its almost impossible. Was your kitty given anything for pain though? If she was, i'd say put her in crate, cause then she's just not feeling pain, but she could be damaging herself by jumping. If she's not on pain meds its ok for her to move about cause she wont do anything that hurts her.

  4. I asked them to give her a pain shot before I brought her home,so they did. They said it was only for 12 hours and I can see that she is in a bit of pain. I have to work all day tomorrow and am thinking of putting her in a crate for the day so she doesn't hurt herself. I was surprised how quick she bounced back. Kind of hard to restrict her, but I'm trying as best I can.

  5. Good advice from both AZB and Sky. No one tells the kittens to stay calm (like they would listen) and the kitten won't do something that hurts her. If you think she is too rambunctious, you could try cuddling with her - sometimes that reminds them that they want to take a little nap.
