Since I became a first time kitty mom in November, I have done a bunch of reading on cat care. Well, almost none of the "best toys" that are often referenced on websites or books are available at Petsmart. Eko and Emily love the toys they have and the homemade toys from around the house. But part of me has been wondering if they needed a "da bird" and other highly recommended toys in their life. Well, I just went to Amazon and ordered da bird with replacement feathers, cat dancer, dragonfly flier, a puzzle box, some little spring toys (cuz they seemed like the kind of thing that would float their boat), and a treat dispensing ball (because, for some reason, Eko refuses to lift a paw to the egg shaped dispensers that Emily loves.) I'm a pretty frugal person, so this felt quite extravagant...but I can't wait for the toys to arrive!

Good for you ECB - a little splurge once in a while is good for the soul! (and super-fun for the kitties!)
As a kid, it was a huge deal to get a jingle-ball for the cats. Mostly they played with used aluminum foil balls, pop-caps, or a crinkled-up piece of paper tied to a string.Posted 1 year ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

I bought my kitties heated cat beds for Christmas...I know people think that is odd. But hey, you will enjoy playing with the kits and Da Bird; some people spend their money on Starbucks, I spend mine on cats...

Hi KC! I bought one of those thermal beds for Shaddo as his favorite spot to sleep was in front of the door where it was somewhat drafty and downright cold in the winter. He stood there and stared at it until I moved it and put the old half-moon shaped regular rug down, then he happily curled up! (He was a very stubborn kitty!) Oh well, the next generation loves it!

Oh the cat dancer is marvelous! We've had one for a few years now, and when I get it out, Molly goes bananas all over again. I try not to use it so much she gets tired of it, but with it my staid 8 yr old starts acting like a kitty again! I am so amazed that such a simple toy can elicit such excitement out of her.

I also got Jax a cat dancer and he is OBSESSED with it. He goes crazy. It's the only toy he will actually pick up and move from room to room then put it in various locations so he can pounce on it. If I pick it up he comes running and does flips and stuff! I got it at my local feed/coop/farmer's center type store. They have a lot of differnt stuff in coomparison to pet smart and the like.
