I was asked to post this link for everyone who might not have seen it. The work here is that of my wife Intuition. She is a landscape painter and graduate student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Yes, all the paintings here are for sale as well, so if you want one we certainly won't keep them from you :)

I myself am an animation grad student. I made her website and I am working on mine. Just haven't had the time to think about it too much right now

  3. OMG - now I feel totally inadequate!!!!!!! (WWM slinks away with head down). But Instinct... that male nude drawing in pencil... is that anyone that we know? :-)

  4. Very nice..My favorite too was Castle Dracula and boy if I had the extra $ I'd buy it in a flash.

  6. So, Instinct....were you the inspiration for "Male Nude?"

    ;-p

  7. She is very talented! My favorite is the Castle Dracula which I see I am not the only one with that thought.

Posted 4 years ago by cricketsmama #

  8. No, that's not me. Sorry ladies, it is a model from the school.

Yes, Castle Dracula is very popular, we just can't seem to get it sold though :(

WWM, nothing to feel inadequate about. Neither one of us could make a quilt as nice as yours, heck, I would probably sew my finger to the material.

  9. that is great! god, i should get my personal site up, but i can't afford it yet. :(

  10. I always wanted to be able to paint but even my stick figures are pitiful :-( What incredible talent, Instinct - bet that makes you really proud! BTW, thanks for leaving the comment on my blog! I'll work on some narrative - I think I see how to do that!

Posted 4 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  11. No problem WWM. Play around with your site, you can even attach links from your site to others that you like.

And painting, drawing, and any other form of art (oh, like quilt making) is more about practice than it is talent. I bet when you first started sewing you couldn't make a straight seam either, right?

If you want to draw or paint, then do it. You will get better at it with practice and time. Jamie has been painting for about 15 years now - she's had some practice at it :D

  12. My favorite remains "Ocean Twilight" I should take a picture of the painting in my living room and email it to you Instinct.... you'd be surprised at the similarity... :)

Posted 4 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  13. Of course you're right, Instinct. If I wouldn't be here so much I'd be sewing! :-) Jamie's sky paintings are beautiful. We used to live in NM so I really liked the one of Albuquerque.

  14. At least I'm not only one thinking that you were the "male nude" !!! Thank you for setting us straight...

  15. Wow...I didn't see any of her penciling the last time she shared her talents. I cannot believe how gifted she is, and at such a young age. Truly gifted she is. You must be so proud of her Instinct. I feel so blessed to know someone that is so gifted. Your Artwork Rocks Intuition!

  17. As I have said before, beautiful art work Intuition. I've seen those sunsets before, too.

  18. Hello to all, and thank you for comments and encouraging words about my art work! :)
We should have many more drawings to put up soon. The examples that are up now are about 5 years old. I have improved a lot with drawing the human figure during this past semester, though it will take a bit more practice before I can nail a portrait likeness of a person.

I got a laugh out of you all thinking that instinct was the "male nude". :) Most likely he was sitting right next to me in class drawing right along with me for that one. Though there was the time that our model didn't show up for class at all and our professor asked for any volunteers... clothed of course. Instinct ended up being a very good model and had a ball wowing us all with his cool marshal arts poses.

Most of those sunsets are from areas like Hawaii, New Mexico, Ohio, and the Smokie Mountians in Tennesse. Ever since I was little I loved to take pictures of landscapes along the way of any trip we took. I've known without a doubt that I wanted to be a professional artist since my 8th birthday, and have had the great blessing and fortune to have a family (and teachers along the way) that supported me in making that dream a reality. :)

  19. Good luck with your studies, Intuition. You are a very talented young woman!

  20. I love your fine arts, Intuition. About 3 yrs ago I picked up a pencil and started to draw. I seem to like lighthouses, great herons and egrets and of course cats. I got so I could draw our cat Hootie and I think that might be
why God had me do this as Hootie died about 2 mos after the drawing. I haven't
really done much since. You have inspired me to start again!!!

I love the sky scenes. And I found the pencil on paper quite interesting.
That's where I am in art, pencil drawing. But it gives me great pleasure. I
would imagine it is hard to part with each piece.

  21. I & I, as I have said before, you are both so talented and I feel that I am blessed to have you as a part of my life!! and I love the paintings. When John and I get moved, I think I'd like to have one of your painting in our house.

  22. If my ex should reclaim the painting in my living room (his mother painted it afer she was declared legally blind, and I loved it from the moment I saw it) I would certainly consider purchasing Ocean Twilight should it still be available. I will, one of these day, take a picture of the painting and email it to you.... it's amazingly similar.

Intuition... do you recall the location of that particular sunset?

Posted 4 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  23. I can tell you it was taken in Hawaii when her family was out there for some big high school choir thing her brother was doing, but I don't know what island it was exactly.

I'll asker her when she is up (we stayed up late last night) :)

  24. Thanks Instinct... that one just calls to me, and that explains why !!

Posted 4 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  25. Intuition... Most of my drawings and painting have animals in them..I love animal silhouettes in pics..Have you done any? I love your style..I feel such tranquility looking at them..

    Posted 4 years ago by 2bpurring #

  26. If I may be so rude...Yes, I and I, the talent is astounding, and yes, we all love Dracula's Castle and yes, we all wish we could afford it and no, I can't. But if you guys would get it to a poster shop and make frame-able copies I would gladly shell out $50 for one. I know, I know....it will no longer be an original but it may become well known. :-)

  27. Sammy & Oliver's mom .. it makes me very happy to hear that this discussion of my work makes you feel like drawing again. :)

Yes pencil drawings are where every one starts but don't forget it is a medium that holds it's own among all the fancy art materials as well. There is a soft and beautiful grace to them that you just can't get anywhere else. Closest is maybe old black and white photography, like Ansel Adams. In the old days it was charcol, and in the museums I always loved all those sketch book studies of Rembrandt or Da Vinci's even more than the finished paintings.

I keep planing to do a large series of pencil or charcol drawings, and I think I'm really going to stick to it this year. I used to draw animals all the time, mostly horses and birds, but I haven't done vary many since I've been in school.

It was difficult for me to let go, the first time I sold a painting.. they all start to feel like little pieces of me up there on the wall, and if i were a writer it would feel like pages of my diary framed for everyone to see. But then again that is what makes them special, they'd be lifeless pictures otherwise. But really, all financial issues aside, the reward is so fulfilling every time I sell a painting. It leaves me speechless, to bring such joy and connect to people with my paintings. I have been at sales where I have sold absolutly nothing, but I leave at the end of the day happy and knowing for certain that this is what I was ment to do in life because of the heartfelt reception my work has gotten from people.

I would love to get some nice prints going some day of a few favorites like Dracula's Castle. Unfortunatly the start up price for getting those made is a little steep for us right now, but no doubt prints of my work will become a reality someday not too far off. :)

  28. Intuition...you really do have the passion inside of you. It really comes out in your words. You speak of the difficulty in letting go of your pieces. It put me on a paralell(sp?) of how I feel after nurturing a kitten & then having to let go of it. Continued success in all your ventures.
