My kitties was like that too, aside from the urinary trouble, it was as u described: visible, like it's right there but just can't come out, and very hard. I ended up getting a few hard chunks out eventually, but very painful for the poor guy, and stressful for the both of us. It was the size of a pencil eraser (as big around and as long from the tip of the eraser down to the end of the metal part) I had to use Q-tips and rub small circles on each side of his bottom-hole rotating sides as he pushed to work it out. I'm sorry for the description, I just don't know how else to describe it and I know how stressful it must be for u and the little one so I just want to help if possible. It may not work for u guys, or u might have already tried that, just wanted to let u know in case. Let us know how things go at the vet. Hope all is well!
