Dear TDK family,
Although I'm a relatively new member, it didn't take me long to realize that TDK is a very, very special place and more importantly, very, very special people. It was pure luck that I even stumbled upon this wonderful site (thank you, yahoo!). For months I just lurked looking at the daily picture of the new kitty and finally my husband said "Well, our girls should be on TDK". We sent Kittenmaster a photo and my goodness - they were TDK one day! We were thrilled! But when I started reading the comments, I think I was hooked. So tentatively I ventured out into the chat land but only to read. It took me a while to figure things out like "what is a sharing circle and a wack-bonk stick?"; what is the "night shift" and most of all "Who are these people?". I have never been in a chat group before and this was all really virgin territory to me.
I belong to some on-line forums, three of which are quilting groups. Last week on one of them some terribly ugly and hurtful things were said to one of the moderators about, of all things, thread! She then wrote a post saying that she had spent the day in tears and then removed the "offending" post she had written in which she expressed her opinion about thread. The point is, it was such a small issue and certainly not a topic that should have reduced anyone to tears.
So what makes TDK so special? Never have I seen a more caring, supportive group than you. There is not a problem that any of us have that we cannot bring here. It will never be ridiculed but rather an outpouring of love and concern will be expressed by the members. It is truly amazing. This must be the kindest place on the internet because surely you are the kindest group of people. And it all started because of a common love of animals, and kitties in particular. But that is really only the tip of the iceberg, isn't it?
We are all so different; different backgrounds, different ages, and probably very few of us have ever met in person. And yet somehow you all became instant friends. How precious is that in today's world?
So, rather than thinking to myself "Gosh, these people are special", I wanted to tell you. Thank you, Everyone!
