Help! Oh-No! Poop again! One of our 4 kits has a problem that I need some help with. I’m not sure which one it is, although I have my suspicions it’s one of our boys. The girls are of a small stature, and the piles are VERY big. The boys were ferule kittens that we adopted from a woman where they were born under her tool shed about 7 years ago. They are huge, fluffy cats with tufts on their ears and fur on the bottom of their feet between their toes. They’re really beautiful kitties.
The problem was occasional at first. It seems that whenever there’s a change in household routine one of our kits presents us with a very smelly pile of poop in places where it’s very hard to clean. I keep 4 litter boxes going that I clean every day. I don’t know if it’s spite or what, but the pile started off a few years ago when we took our suitcases out for a trip. The pile was left in the suitcase. This happened twice, so now we know better than taking them out too early. After that, there would occasionally be a great big smelly pile on the bedcover, on one of the bathroom rugs, or on the rug on the finished basement. I would clean it up right away, but my husband is a bit of a clean freak, so this kind of occurrence really drives him crazy.
Recently the pooping escalated to a new level. I was laid up recovering from surgery that I had at the beginning of August, and Hubby was feeding and cleaning after the kits instead of me. Recently we removed the rug from the basement and replaced it with bamboo flooring and a nice area rug thinking that the wood would be a lot easier to keep clean. (That old wall-to wall carpeting in the basement was old and stained.) That’s hubby’s “Man Cave” now where he watches sports and uses the unfinished part for his woodworking hobby. The food dishes are down there, and the litter boxes are in another area in the unfinished part, not anywhere near the food. The placement of the food and litter boxes has not changed.
The poop seems to have targeted him. (Or at least he thinks so) During my recovery, the poop has appeared several times on the new area rug, on a decorative pillow that hubby used, on the leather sofa, on the afghan (all downstairs) and also on the throw rugs in the bathrooms upstairs (he stepped in this one and threw out very expensive slippers). For the last 2 weeks I’ve begun to take care of the kits again, but alas, the problem is still here. We’re at wits end! I don’t know how to identify the cat that is the culprit, and then don’t know how to eliminate the problem once we know who is doing it! My husband has begun saying that we have to get rid of all the cats. I’m trying to hang in, but I am getting sick of cleaning up the poopies. I need my clean house back. Please help. Any suggestions?????
