  1. Looks like dad shoveled; the nest is visible now. Looks like the babies are learning how to groom themselves. I guess losing down and gaining feathers can be tickly!

  2. When I first looked a minute ago, both were in the nest--guess it takes two to feed hungry mouths sometimes--but then it looked like Dad was eating more than he was feeding. Just can't get over how big the babies are getting. Can't snuggle under Mom too easily now.

  3. Joan, got a kick out of the "picture" of Dad Eagle with a snow shovel in his claws. ;)

  4. Ah yes, our national symbol of freedom hard at work for the sake of his family...

Another projectile-poo aimed at the camera! "the eagles can't see the cam" my foot! I think the little squirt (no pun intended, tee-hee) did that on purpose!

  5. Just checked in on the babies. Have they ever grown! It looks like their pin feathers are coming out now as they lose the fuzz. Yesterday I saw both Mom and Dad feeding them at the same time (Mom was feeding two and Dad was taking care of the other one).
It is so fascinating to watch the eagles up close. Kudos to all those who bring this to the people around the world.

  6. Looks like two of the Eaglets are waking up and stretching for the morning--third one just keeps cuddling up to Mom.

Have you seen the size of the feet on these guys?!! No wonder they can't get around too well yet--they are all feet and butt! And still with wobbly heads. Tee-hee--so cute.

  7. Just checked the eagles this morning and Mom was feeding two of the eaglets and Dad was feeding the other one. It's still windy, cool, and misty around the state, so I imagine that either Mom or Dad will try to keep them warm today.

  8. Both Mom and Dad are huddled together over the eaglets--I guess--they have their backs to the camera and you can see pellets of snow hitting their backs. Can't see any of the babies, and the camera is partially obsecured by some projectile poo. Poor things look like they are cold.

  9. Ma & Pa are doing some home renovations - putting pieces of wood to make the "railings" higher and adding more nesting material. Making sure everyone is safe and cozy!

  10. I haven't had time to check the eagles very often, so it always surprises me when I see how big the eaglets are. Mom and Dad are doing a fine job with these "babies".

  11. Boy, has anyone been watching these guys of late? They are HUGE!

They're napping, sort of, now--looks like they are ready to have a storm. Just the "babies" in the nest most of the time now it seems. Probably won't be too long before they are gone and learning to hunt and fish.

  12. I have been watching them - it's been so cool watching them grow! Truly amazing!

  13. A few hours ago, I saw the biggest one try running across the nest and flapping his wings. Looks like "flight training" will begin soon. It'll be sad but wonderful at the same time to see them leave the nest.

  14. I've been checking on the eagles almost every day. It still amazes me how big the eaglets have gotten. This morning one of the parents is feeding the eaglets, but I have seen the oldest one trying to feed himself. I've seen the windspan on the eaglets and they should be flying soon. The site has said that it should be by the end of May.

  15. Wow they sure are growing! Saw one playing with a feather, so cute! It's quite windy there today.

  16. Such an interesting cam! The babies(??) are getting big! I guess they don't get white feathers on their heads till they've matured.

  17. Something I read a few days ago led me to believe that they don't actually get them for a couple of years. And it also said they still won't be leaving the nest for another couple of weeks.

I have noticed that even when Mom and Pop bring them food, they are starting more often to feed themselves. The other day the biggest one was trying to swallow a part of a fish that was almost as big as his head, but he finally figured out to hold it down with his talons and tear at it.

And one day he was running from one side of the nest to the other flapping his wings--getting ready to try flying, I guess. They are so huge from the itty bitty things we watched 2 months ago, aren't they?

  18. Yes, MM, the transformation has been amazing! And watching them learn to feed themselves and test out their wings has been quite entertaining!
The nest seems to have shrunk :)

  19. I know--seems like they barely have room to move around. I do wish they had the camera zoomed out a bit more so we could see a little more of them--they are so huge, their bodies take up the entire shot and you can't really see what they are doing.

I'm really going to miss watching these "kids" when they finally fly off. ;(

  20. I get a kick out of them usually lying flat out on their tummies. Wonder if it's because their legs aren't strong enough to support them up for long? There are several pairs nesting along the Yellowstone in our area but in pretty remote areas that are hard to get to, only boaters usually see them. I did see one last summer beside the interstate. I was driving along, when I see this "statue" on a fence post. I'm thinking to myself, that's wierd, why would someone put a statue of a bald eagle on a fence post? Then the "statue" swivled it's head and looked at me! Was neat to see it though as usually any sightings of eagles in our area are of Golden Eagles rather than Baldies.

  21. Oh my Gosh!!! they are out of the nest--just sitting on tree limbs right now, and it looks like the same tree the nest is in.

Our babies are really growing up now!

  22. Lol, they seem to be eyeing those horses with some interest!
