  9. GD, Drs Foster and Smith is a wonderful website. I am going to order the catnip as well as some frontline flea stuff. The frontline is a lot less than going to Petco where they charge almost $60 for a 3 pack! I wonder if Sylvester would like this:
    http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1883+17753&pcatid=17753

I will have a raspberry filled scone with chocolate dripped over it and a nice mocha with whip cream, please.

Busy day today again. Missed you all last night but I got home late due to working later due to having to go to an immigration hearing in the am.

Feeling much better today inspite of waking up twice - once to Mia and Sylvester zooming around the apartment chasing each other and the second time to a cat meowing outside that sounded like it was in heat. I have a sinking feeling it could be a stray. Boy was it yowling! Poor thing.

  10. Ohhhhh, chili! I'll have a bowl!

I like the cockapoodle pictures - Bailey must be a cutie! I'm still waiting for him to get on Dogster and get an invite for Bobsky!

Glad you liked the website, Karin. I've gotten a few things from them, and the quality (and catnip!) is great!

  11. Mom's still trying to get a picture of Bailey and Tiger together. The problem is that when they're playing and mom grabs the camera, they run in opposite directions. One would think they were camera shy, but neither is. They are both hams!

  12. Awwwww, I'm so looking forward to a picture!

Work is driving me crazy today - how about a margarita with the chili? Don't know if that goes, but I need a drink! People are sending me checks that don't add up to any invoices I have sent, others request coverage on companies and then don't tell me how much. Arrrrrgh! I'm getting nowhere, I'm tired and my head hurts. And the only thing I had to eat for lunch was a stale blueberry granola bar!*sad*

  13. And I have a big box and 9 envelopes with books I have to take to the postoffice after work. Hoping it won't rain like yesterday.

  14. Karin... hang in there my friend. This will all be over eventually and you will have the life you deserve. I admire your strength... I really do.

I think I'd like a cream puff this morning. Just sounds good. And a Chai Tea please.

Question... what information is best put on the kitties tag? Chloe still has the tag from the shelter where I found her. I'd like to personalize a tag - just in case she gets out - but don't know how much or how little information should go on there. Any suggestions?

  15. I have The Bobster's first and last name and my cell phone number (only number I have). He also has a rabies tag I think could probably be checked.

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  16. go to pettags.com there is an option you can buy which puts a code number on with a 800 number. it protects your personal information.

  17. Hang in the Karin..Your future is bright...just a small storm to ride out first..then rainbows..then blue skys...Oh and I'll take a margarita too..I have to give all employees their new health insurance rates today..I always get dirty looks, like I'm pocketing the extra money or something..don't they understand..my rates go up too..I don't work for the insurance company..They always want to kill the messanger..

  19. Does anyone know anything about micro chipping? Like the cost, the intitial discomfort to the kitty, the effectiveness?

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  20. I go to my local health food store for their catnip. It's food-grade quality and organic to boot, so I know it's gonna be potent. Yes, the flower tops are going to be the headiest, when it comes to the essential oils in the catnip. Buying in a large quantity though, I'm not so sure of. It does lose its potency after awhile. I bet you can keep it vital a lot longer if you freeze it in a ziptop bag. Two pounds??!! Holy tamale, you can get your whole kitty neighborhood high.

  21. Good Morning, everyone! I'll have a gallon-sized cup of strong black columbian coffee please....and a couple of tooth-picks to keep my eyese open. :-)

GD, my two girls were microchipped when they went to "the spa." The chip is very tiny. It is inserted under the skin between their shoulder blades. You might want to find out which chip type is most commonly used as I understand that there is more than one type and the person looking for the chip needs the right kind of reader to find it.

Siobhan, I love your name. How is it pronounced?

  22. OP, have you found a source for the material you need for the dance costumes? I'd love to see a photo of it.

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  23. Wow..KW I didn't realize there were different chips, that need a certain kind of reader..you would think they would standardize it..

    Posted 4 years ago by 2bpurring #

  24. That was my understanding from a year and a half ago. I hope the technology has made it possible to read any chip with a "universal" reader, but I haven't done any research to find out. I don't mean to cause anyone alarm....just a heads up.

  25. OP, if I had to choose info to put on a pet tag, I'd provide the rabies tag number and my cell phone number. If you're uncomfortable, put on the number of your vet's office; just be sure you let your vet's office know you're doing that, so they can help get her returned to you.

GD, the latest batch of kittens were microchipped. It causes minimal discomfort, but the needle is much larger diameter than most you'll ever see used on your cat. With one of the kitties, the microchip worked its way out within an hour or two (but it may just not have been inserted far enough in, under the skin). I think the industry is working toward standardization, but until then, yes, it's dependent upon which reader is being used, whether or not the microchip will be detected.

  26. Thanks for the info anncetera..i guess i should check first to see what kind of scanners our local shelters use, just in case he escapes..

  27. Both of my furry kids are microchipped. When I first got Sylvester, I got him a collar that was black and white and a tag that just had his name and my cell phone number. They say some thieves will try to catch a dog to see what address they have on the tag so they can go rob the home. Don't think they would be able to do this with a cat though as the cats are too fast (of course they are a very friendly cat who likes strangers). I believe most vet offices are now using a standardized reader that can read any type of microchip.

Thanks OP, and 2bpurring...things do have an interesting way of working out.

  29. GD, all the rescue organizations here microchip their kitties. My v - e - t claimed it is totally safe and overtalked me to microchip my girl who hadn't yet been chipped. It only cost 20 euros.

  30. GD, All of my cats are microchipped and there was minimal discomfort, just judging by their behavior at the time of chipping. Since we occasionally travel with our cats it makes me feel better. When on the road they also wear collars with their names and my cell number on the tags. When we travel there is always a carrier in the car and before we open doors to the car, cats are secured and their doors latched, but you never know what strange things might happen on a trip or at grandma's house. Fortunately none of my crew are interested in the big scary outdoors and don't try to make a run for it.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon!
