  3. Ok, I'll play!

What you do know about me:
*I am owned by one year old Roxy, who is my first attempt at owning a pet "all by myself"
*I work Internet Sales at a car dealership
*Both my Mom and my aunt currently have breast cancer. Regardless of their strength during these difficult times, they would be my idols...hands down. I've never met more determined, crazy, selfless, lovable ladies. Ever.
*I used to have a Mr. RM but we are no longer an item. I do have a new gentleman caller and he shall officially be known as AF in honor of his chosen military branch.
    *I'm a born and raised Michigander :)

    What you don't know:
*I have one brother who is two years younger than me. Together, we are quite adept at driving our poor mother insane :p
*My father died of complications from diabetes five years ago. I miss him every single day.
*My ideal summer day is spent on a Lake in Michigan with friends, surrounded by nature, laughter and margaritas. A bonfire at night is a must!
*Both my brother and I are natural redheads but neither one of our parents or immediate family members has red hair.
*Someday I hope to open a no-kill shelter to help animals find better homes then where they came from.

  4. Oh Ladysky, for us, Mr. DG really wants a dog, but he'll take the cats for now…but he expects a dog soon… :( What do you plan to be?

RM: a lot of the things you said about what I could know…I actually didn't. How is it having a sibling? I'm sorry that your father died :(

  6. What you do know: I have 2 dogs, no cats, a son and daughter, 6 grands and a fabulous hubby. I volunteer at a therapeutic equestrian center and am currently waiting to find out if our offer on a house is accepted! What you don't know: I have a twin brother, an older brother and an older sister. My oldest sister passed 10 years ago. My parents are both deceased. I am an avid Detroit Red Wings fan--my favorite player is/was Brendan Shanahan. I love the water, was born, raised and still reside in Michigan. I am a certified Master Gardener, never graduated from college because I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! If I could afford it I would be a professional student. My favorite flowers are yellow roses.

  7. What you know: I am owned by a brat of an orangie named George who bites, but only bites me. My husband is 26 years older than me & I have 2 stepdaughters almost my age. I live in NYC and work in the news business. I have hydrocephalus. I've been posting long enough that there's probably a bunch of other stuff that people know.

What you don't know: I have a sister I haven't seen in 20 years (her choice) and 2 nephews & a niece I'll probably never meet, and this makes me sad.

  8. Good idea, DG. I'll share.

What you may know (if you read everything posted on TDK in great detail!)

    -I have a husband and 2 sons (age 7 and 5.)
    - At age fortyish we got our first ever furry pets..."teenage" kittens Emily, Eko and Leo.
-We live in West Texas but are native Floridians and miss Florida terribly.

    What you don't know:

-In my pre-kids life I worked as a school teacher, campus minister and various office jobs.
    -I homeshcool my 2 boys.
-I love daily exercise but adding a new kitten every 2 months has thrown off my routine....hope to get back to it soon.
-We have a ball python named Norbert. He was a rescue, really needed a home. I wasn't too keen on taking him (my husband was) but now I'm his main caretaker and am quite fond of him.
-On Saturdays in the fall you'll find my 7 yr old son and I (my husband doesn't watch sports) watching college football (preferably SEC)....cheering for my alma mater, the Florida Gators.

I'm enjoying learning more about everyone.

  9. What you know: I have two cats, Casper (as seen on the left) and Cali, though I've been home to as many as four. Suki is a foster that sometimes stays with me and currently is with my Dad and my Dad also has a big grey barn cat named Smokey who comes to live with me when he gets hurt or sick. I have two dogs, Kai and Loki. All my pets are rescues. I'm working on a MA in Psychology. I'm married to my wonderful Hubby. I do Star Wars Cosplay and have a lot of fun doing that. I work on a college campus with hearing impaired and disabled students. I break it up like that because it's almost all hearing impaired that I work with, but not always. I take Cali to class a lot and I'm trying to train her to be a therapy cat.

What you don't know: My mom is bipolar so I had a rough childhood but our relationship has improved greatly now that we don't live in the same house. I'm going to apply to the PhD program not for this fall but the next :D because I'll be graduating a year from now. I have a really rare genetic disorder (I've mentioned it in passing but not sure if most people know) I'm only 4'9 and 85 lbs and it has caused skeletal deformities so I spent most of my 8-11th grade years on crutches or in a wheelchair, but I had major surgeries on my legs at 17 so that I can walk relatively normally, though my right leg ended up shorter than my left so I wear a lift in my shoe :). I still end up on crutches or even using a chair at times. I was born and raised in Georgia, but I've visited 11 different states and 3 countries so far :) My husband and I were together 7 years before we got married last October. I am incredibly independent to the point of getting angry sometimes when people try to help me and won't take no for an answer, though I try to be gracious. Sometimes people think I'm a kid and I always get carded, even to see a rated R movie! lol

Posted 1 year ago by schminken #

  14. DG, I don't know who your mom is, either!!! And I'll bet that when I find out it will be a forehead slapping, "Of course!!!" moment!

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  15. I don't know either. I looked at the Catster page, but I don't recognize any of the names (although her cats are friends with Willow & Windi, WWM; have the girls been signing into Catster without telling you? :) )

DG's mom, whoever she is, lives in New Orleans - does that ring any bells for anyone?

    DG, you're stumping us :)

  17. Gosh what does anyone know about me let alone the dear furry loving hearts on this site? The basics:
I've been happily married for almost 29 years.
We have 11 rescue cats under the age of five; 5 from one family; and they all have a compelling story.
I've been around TDK for years, used to be active, but hardly get a chance to come here any more. Always love it when I do.
Went to one TDK meet up at DuClaw (remember?)
Five of our cats have been the featured kitty of the day (Yogi, Annie, Emmett, Kelly and Jake)

What you may not know about me:
I will retire in one year! Woo-hoo!
I love to craft, particularly crochet, beading, sewing, doll-making and I'm really looking forward to having time to do more of it
I FEEL like I know YOU even if I don't!
    Purrs and headbonks, DCH

Posted 1 year ago by DancingCatHill #

  18. Heehee RM, what gave it away? Or did you already know?

DCH: Oh wow, I'll admit, I've never read any posts from you recently! I can't believe it. It's nice to get to know new people :) Duchess and Gabriel send you purrs and headbonks. I'd give you some cat treats for your babies but Duchess ate all of them :)

    Posted 1 year ago by Duchess&&Gabriel #

  19. I already knew, DG. I've known for quite some time...besides, you flat out said it in a couple of posts so it was hard not to put two and two together LOL

Posted 1 year ago by roxysmommy #

  20. Well, let's see

What you do know about me...
I am owned by two black sisters who were feral but happily found us to be their family. Before Willow and Windi we had five other precious kitties, all now at the Bridge.
I am married to the most wonderful man and we've been married now for.... well, for a long time!
Guess that makes me older than dirt.
I'm addicted to exercise and love to be out on my bike.
    I hate salt.
    I love martinis.
    Cooking is a hobby.
    I'm a quilter.
I'm a retired registered nurse with a slew of former jobs: surgical unit in a hospital, public health, office manager and nurse for two surgeons, nurse in a Navajo boarding school, hospice nurse, home health nurse and early intervention nurse.
I live in Texas on the wind swept Texas Plains.
    We love to travel.
I love, love, love to laugh.
    I love TDK!

What you (might) not know about me:

I have a Bachelor of Arts in history (no one told me that you can't get a job with that!!!) and I'm an avid reader of the Civil War, pre-revolution Russian history and English history.
    I speak Spanish reasonably well.
    I have an older sister.
I was an officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
I was a Vietnam war bride.
My sweet husband has moved me 18 times!!!
    I like to garden.
I was raised in El Paso, TX.
I spent lots of my summers on my great-grandfather's ranch in Texas.
I'm terrified of snakes and cockroaches.
I'm extremely sentimental and can practically cry on cue!
    I excel at wasting time.
    I suck at math.
I worked on the Navajo Reservation for two years taking care of medically fragile babies.
I used to be a distance runner.
    My parents are both gone.
I tend to be a "peace maker" because I really don't like confrontation.

Whew.... that's all that I can think of right now!

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  21. Haha actually my mom was a big fan of shouting it out when I first joined, and I was a bit uncomfortable about it at first, but now it's okay. I wanted to have my own identity when I first started out on TDK.

WWM: That's so much new stuff I didn't know. Moving 18 times??????? Wow!! Must have been hard to really settle down.

    Posted 1 year ago by Duchess&&Gabriel #

  22. DG, Mr. WWM was in the Army when we married, so lots of moving there. Then he went to work for a corporation that moved us every bit as much as the Army! My motto for a long time has been, "Bloom Where You Are Planted". I always figured that I could be miserable or I could learn to love our current home. I don't like to be miserable, so.... The hardest part has always been either leaving my friends, or having them leave when they were transferred.

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  23. I know who your mom is DG...I know...I know....I have always known, but I won't tell :) She doesn't post as much now, but I am friends with her on FB :)

Posted 1 year ago by cricketsmama #

  24. WWM...I am close to you moving wise...I just counted 17 times and I think I forgot a few...I never went to a school longer than 2 years either. :(

Posted 1 year ago by cricketsmama #

  25. Darn it... I know that I know.....I'm just having trouble getting my gray matter to function!!! GRRRR - I HATE it when that happens!!!

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. Come closer WWM..I will whisper it in your ear :)

Posted 1 year ago by cricketsmama #

  27. WWM

You stated, "I have a Bachelor of Arts in history (no one told me that you can't get a job with that!!!)"

Actually in TX you can get a job with that...The Jr and High schools of WT are littered with them. They are all called "COACH". (it seems to be a popular degree for the PE education majors out there)
