  1. KC, I have just offered my comments from the perspective of a Registered Nurse with surgical background. Nothing more.

  2. WWM, I wasn't referring to you or your comments.

I was referring to the accusations of medical malpractice and incompetence flying around, made by people not privy to the whole story. Not only do I find that rude, we do not know who is on here. Suppose the nurse or physician in question reads these threads? Or someone who works at that clinic? I would refrain from saying anything online that I wouldn't want them to overhear.

  3. KC, please keep in mind that it was MC who first mentioned that she is having difficulty with her medical professionals. We then posted our thoughts in response to what she had posted.

I have been dealing with knee problems for many years and have been treated for over two years. Based on the information that MC has given us, I DO feel privy to enough of the story to know that there are some things that have been stated that are very confusing. Namely, nurses do not give MRI's and they do not give MRI results. And we all have access to our medical files. After my Dr and I discussed my MRI results, I asked for the paperwork and was given it on the spot.

  4. Dee, the point of my story is that second- and third-hand info doesn't always make sense. While the surgeon clearly did not adequately explain things to my father-in-law, I can see how the misunderstanding happened.

Anyway, I don't like name-calling, even if I do not know the persons being called incompetent. Therefore I will remove myself from the discussion and look for fluffier threads.

  5. As far as name-calling goes, MC referred to the nurse as the "nurse" and called her witchy. If anyone else name-called, we were just following suit.

  6. From recent personal experience, my best recommendation is to go see an orthopaedic surgeon. He would be best qualified to read the MRI and proceed on a course of treatment. I ruptured a disc in October. My GP ordered the MRI and then scheduled me to meet with an Ortho who has been directing my treatment in cooperation with my GP and my pain management doc since. Prayers and more white light for you. Once you are in the hands of the most appropriate medical professional, you could have him talk doc to doc with your GP about the nurse and how your injury is being handled so far.

I do think the nurse is taking her "gatekeeping" to a dangerous level and that the doctor should be made aware.

  7. I apologize if I over stepped my bounds Kipling's Cat. Of course you are right I am only hearing MC's side of the situation and I am taking her at her word. It just seems very wrong to me that she isn't being given her personal information correctly. Because she has had difficulties with the hospital before and now it just seems that some thing should be done. I would not be uncomfortable asking a doctor's office why they are providing treatment in a manner I don't understand, and say, based on what I was told, that it seems like something is wrong. I didn't mean to be rude, I did mean to say that MC has patients right and she deserves answers and treatment, not a run around.

  8. Mollycat, just catching up on back threads I've missed.

Very sorry to hear of your latest challenge and pain. You bear so much with such incredible grace and grit. My prayers and wishes that you heal quickly, become pain free, and have everything with your health improve! God bless.
