I moved my 3 cats from an apartment in California with a small enclosed back yard to an apartment in AZ with no outside access. Two cats (both male) are doing ok. Female cat has pee-ed on my son's bed 2 times (once with him still in it) and my bed 2 times. This is something she has never done before. This has been over a period of about 6-8 weeks. I have also been traveling for work and this could contribute to her poor attitude as she is "my" kitty mostly. Any idea how to change this behavior? We have even set up a second litter box for her to use if she doesnt want to share with the others. I am a long time cat owner, but not sure how to solve this one. I really think she is just "pissed off" about the whole situation.......

Jewell, I had a cat that was angry and upset about *something* and started doing the same thing! I was SO angry, it was a new mattress and I thought it was ruined. I bought a product that removed the odor completely, I'll have to find the info. Anyway, once the odor was out the cat stopped doing it!

Sounds like you are right. Was she one of the ones who went outside? What if you brought her a garden inside? I would also have her vet checked to eliminate any physical problems.

Hi Jewel and welcome! I had a kitty make her displeasure known to me like this and she adjusted after a while although a vet visit is probably in order to make sure she's alright. Also the additonal litter box and increased attention for her when you get home will help too. Also there are many people with more experience than I have that will reply later or in the morning, please check back and keep us informed.

Thanks for your feedback....looking forward to more posts. I have been a TDK fan for a long time, checking in every day to see the latest kitten - gives you a smile every day!! This is the first time I have joined the chat so thank you for your welcome.
I am thinking about getting her a Pet - a beta fish or something like that to entertain her. Also, I need to get her some kitty grass. Keep posting TDKers I am enjoying your advise.

perhaps you could get her a screened "patio". There are window units for cats to have a taste of the outdoors without freedom to roam. here is an example

Jewell, moving from California to Arizona is no small matter. While it's possible your cat is just "pissed off," I'd definitely take her to the vet. With the amount of stress involved in such a move, it's entirely possible her immune system became compromised enough to succumb to a urinary tract infection (UTI).
(If the vet gives her a clean bill of health, then it'll be the appropriate time to explore other reasons for the behavior.)

Please take your cat to the vet....& keep sure you get the smell out of all the bedding & bed. I had a old cat (23 years old) He started doing things like that when I moved him too.I don't no why he started it . But you have to get rid of the smell, try putting something they have for keeping cats off of things & if nothing else keep her out of your rooms for a while. My cat started using our closet.I just had to keep sure the door was closed at all times. He was just old & I still miss him, his name was Rocky. He did stop going in the closet ,but starting going right in front of our toilet.no kidding!!!!!

The vet check is first priority--if she check out OK then try using Feliway to calm her down, it's available at Petsmart they also carry "Nature's Miracle for Cats" to eliminate the smell. Where in AZ are you now?

I am in Chandler area. We have actually been talking about designing something similar to a "dog run" only for kitties. I have a large patio, so i have the space - just have to figure out a way to make it kitty proof. Thanks to your input I will have the vet check her out. But keep the advice coming. I love the daily pics!!!

Please check out the Comfort Zone thread. It's a product that may calm her down a bit. I have used it for two years with my three cats, and feel it makes a difference.

There is a new litter that turns color if there is a UTI. Petsmart carries it, sorry don't recall the name, but if you go there you will see it right away.
You are not too far from me, I have friends in Chandler and go to the Chandler mall occasionally.

hey Jewell, my cats did the same thing. The problem that I found was that they needed a schedule just as much as I did. Maybe give that a try?? Hope something works, it's an annoying problem!!

Shameem, you're doing the right thing if he's going to a home where he'll be treated with kindness and love, and be well taken care of.
I know you love him, but the new owners will surely come to love him every bit as much as you do. That's a generous thing you're doing - helping share this kitty's love with them! What a wonderful gift that is!
(If you can, pay some extra attention to the two kitties you already have; they need your love just as much as the kitten does. Extra time spent playing, petting, or giving treats will be greatly appreciated by your kitties.)
