  2. Just woke up. I've designated a set of PJs to keep in Theresa's room so that I can change into them and not worry about germy clothes. She was asleep in the waist band of the pants. Her eyes look much better this morning. Neither were crusted shut though they are still kinda gunky. I gotta make her some breakfast. I need to get some really stinky food today because she's not eating much. Going to make her breakfast after everyone else is fed just because of logistics then I'm going to spend a little time with her before work, which is a short day since it's the last day of June-mester at the college. I'll be going to the vet after 1:30 when they reopen after lunch.

  3. Awww, she wants to be near you even when you're not there. She already knows who loves her :)

    Good luck at the vet.

  4. Kit she is beautiful! Good luck with her - I hope the stinky food helps her eat. Excited to hear what the vet says. It sounds like you are doing a great job :)

  5. wow just read over that last post lol you can tell I really did just get up! :) Edited it a bit to make it make sense a bit better. Yea Kilroy, I'm not sure if she thinks I'm mom or just that nice person or what atm but she's decided I'm a'okay in her book. Leaving the clothing solved her crying issue too. She's got a heck of a voice on her. Thanks Ginirosaru, I'm hoping she gets well, she's just so insubstantial when you pick her up. :( That being said an acquaintance in north Georgia has expressed an interest so maybe in a week or two when she is better she'll have a home to go to. We'll see.

  7. Kit, you are doing an excellent job with the little girl....it would be nice if she had a furrever home to go too (your acquaintance in north Georgia).

  8. Kit, please be sure the kitten gets wormed (if that's something the Capstar won't take care of). Kittens can be made very anemic and weak due to worms, picked up from the flea situation... and you said she had a huge bunch of fleas. I hope you can pull this little girl through, at least now she'll have a fighting chance!

  9. Yep, definitely get a dewormer!
Also, try mixing Nutri-cal into the kitten's food. We did that with GG's Glen who was painfully thin and it worked wonders for him. He's almost 9 lbs now!

  10. Oh yea I was going to get wormer today while we were at the vet. Capstar just works on fleas. It's a wonderful little pill that kills all the fleas on them within 24 hours, but it only works for about a day. They just fall off everywhere dead. I was picking them up and throwing them in the toilet. I probably flushed over 100 fleas! I'll look for the nurti-cal GD, where can you get it? Oh and here's a picture of her from while I was getting ready for work. She was curled up in my pants again. Tiny kitten in my tiny pants lol.

  11. They have nutri-cal at petstores. I've gotten it at both petsmart and PETCO. It's a high calorie/ high fat paste. The makers of it claim it's delicious, but I've never met a cat who actually liked it (you're supposed to let them lick a dab of it off your finger) Instead, I just mix a bit (1/3 of a teaspoon or so) in with their wet food and it works like a charm. I saw nutrical especially for kittens at PETCO, but if you can't find that, just go with the regular kind.
And depending on the brand, it may not be called nutri-cal, just look for a paste that says something like "high calorie padre's. Comes in a toothpaste-like stand-up tube.

  12. The Nutri-Cal is great for putting on a little weight. I get mine from the vet. I just put a swipe of it on the roof of the mouth. Deuter loved it at first and would lick it off my finger, but he seemed to change his mind and he got bigger. Sox was the same way.

  15. The black and white checked jammies kind of match the kitty!!! So sweet, she is looking pretty good Kit.

  16. I found the nutri-cal and actually found the kitten kind at the petstore here. They were very helpful. Got some nasty stinky food, nasty smelling that is. I know because I accidentally bought that particular flavor for the cats before *shudders* but she should be able to smell it lol. She is anemic, of course but her eyes look soooooo much better today. The pupils actually responded to light but her lenses are still cloudy. The vet thinks she will regain at least some of her sight but she was walking into the sides of the carrier so obviously not much now beyond probably light and dark. They agreed with the dosage of amoxcillian and we got wormer as well. I put a squirt of nurti-cal in a dish and she was licking it up when I put her away a second ago. She may pull through this after all.

  17. She is an awful cute little girl, I hope she grows big and strong and finds a wonderful furrever home.

  18. Oh, wow! Theresa is getting better...that is so fantastic to hear!

  19. Back and forth it seems. When I went back in she hadn't licked up very much. So I mixed it in with the stinky food and tried to get her to eat that, no dice, so I spoon fed a few big bites. She ate those down but I didn't want to shock her system so I'll probably do it again later if she doesn't eat the rest herself. Gotta get her little strength back up

  20. Hugs and prayers for Theresa, she is such a darling baby and I hope she pulls through and gets a loving furrever home!
