I have been browsing over old discussions trying to get a feel for things and just learning some stuff and I keep seeing stuff about a night shift. I am a night owl and this really appealed to me so I was just wondering if you all still do this and when it starts and what everyone talks about

We do, Ang, we do, especially us Kiwis in a different time zone and Deb, when she's working the night shift, and everyone else who's up late or can't sleep. We talk about whatever you want and we start whenever anyone opens it -- which you just have, so thank you. It's only early evening here in NZ, so I'll be on again later tonight...
*Waves to Deb.* Hi, Deb. Millie is just demolishing a plate of meat so I'll be here till it's gone (about 5 more seconds, lol).

I am five minutes away and it is beautiful. The falls seem to have a mystical pull to them, however the area has become a bit depressed lately as I am sure is the case in many places. It is home though. I lived in tucson for about six months and although it is beautiful there as well I missed home so here I am... sorry that was a rambling response to a distance question lol

Yes that is putting it mildly. When I moved I was engaged to be married and we moved for his job he worked for the border patrol. It was honestly like moving to another country. The signs were in spanish the grocery stores were in spanish no one spoke english. Not to mention learning to break because of men woman and children racing across the freeway (heartbreaking)To top that off I was in danger of being kidnapped or killed because of his job. They actually told me to carry a gun when I left the house... Culture shock for sure

Waves to Jane and Millie and Libs of course!
Ang, I have live in the Tucson/Ft Huachuca area since '92.

Hi Ang and thanks for starting the Night Shift (albeit unwittingly)! I am another Kiwi like Jcat. She and I live a couple of hours apart from each other and have met in person several times. Hopefully you may get the opportunity to meet some other US TDKers (The Daily Kitten-ers - we're devils for abbreviations here) in person. I have been enjoying reading about Harley. I have two cats - Ringo is a tabby - he is the one in my avatar. And Dara is a bluepoint siamese.

So, harley got down and wandered into the kitchen. Just like with a small child things got really quiet so I got up to check and in two minutes time he managed to get a new package of hamburger rolls off the counter, open the bag and shred all eight. I mean shredded like confetti. This would be really frustrating if it wasen't so hilarious

Good evening Night Shifters, Ang, thanks for opening for us. I'm the third Kiwi, I am KK's lovely older sister and live about 6 hours away from her. KK,Jcat, myself and my daughter Airy who very occasionally posts here all met up once to chat about cats and anything else we had in common.
That's Moonshadow, (more commonly known as Shadz,HRH and even Butterball) in my avatar.
It's early evening here and I'm in the process of making dinner so I may not be on long but I will be back later in the NS(night shift).Posted 10 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Good morning all!
Hi Ang, (and MS, Jcat, KK, Debs ....) I join in the nightshift from the other side of the pond, when I'm on school holidays. It's 8.10am here and I'm listening to the radio having a leisurely cup of tea, having had a WONDERFUL day yesterday.
I went to London and spent 4 hours in a stifling studio singing. It was for a special edition of Songs of Praise and the special guest was ALFIE BOE! He sang "Bring him home" - twice! He also sang a song called "In my daughters eyes" which will be on his new album, released 31st October. The programme will be braodcast 30th October. He was so lovely. Aled Jones was there too and he was fun as well. Good day! Went to Costa's afterwards and they were selling coffee half price. Could the day get any better?????????????
By the way, the black and white fluffy one in my avatar is Garbo, the tortie is Pickle.

So will we see you on songs of praise pm? When is it going to be aired? You will have to tell me what you look like so I can check it out!!! . Hello Ang, I'm also from the other side of the pond! Live in London, I have no picture of my boy, he is a tabby with "cattitude" called Dave....must get my avatar sorted out. We dealt with Daves food issues by removing him from the room when we ate dinner, now he automatically goes into the bedroom or hallway when dinner is brought in. We also give wet food, one pouch in the morning and evening and a bowl of dry food he can graze on during the day.

I took part in two Songs of Praise "specials".
The one with Dana as the special guest star will be broadcast on Sunday 24th July, the one starring Alfie Boe will be broadccast on 30th October.
The floor manager and the director said it was likely that everyone there would appear on screen at some time, but I will probably just be a fleeting longshot - they would not have wanted to break that incedibly expensive camera equipment!

PM! So sorry I missed you, enjoy your elevenses and friends company. You did have a busy time in London, Songs in Praise and half price coffee!
Hi DavesMum, how's the weather in London? Are you getting a good summer this year.Posted 10 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

PM, sorry I missed you, had to say that I liked Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean in the 25th anniv. concert (although nobody does "Bring Him Home" like Colm Wilkerson). How cool that you got to meet him. Unfortunately I doubt that the specials are the sort of thing that would be picked up by our public TV over here.
And you hush about breaking cameras; I've met you, you're lovely & I have the pictures to prove it :)

Morning everyone!......... welcome to you, ANG, I'm from Florida, and usually one of the first on the east coast to peep in the night shift........ I don't get to post here near as much as I used to, as I took a new job about 2 years ago, which takes up a good part of my day..........
Hi Kilroy, KK, MS, Dee, DM & PM...... Jcat must be busy this morning (evening for her), she usually hangs with us here this time of the day.......
I'm really hoping my washing maching works today, Mr. AV found it leaking last night - I'm hoping it's something simple like a clogged line.......... he replaced a part about 2 weeks ago, and we thought everything was fine, so he was REALLY bummed to find a pool of water coming from the bottom yesterday *sighs*........ not something I need right now ! :(
