Cafe in Honor of WWM's MS 150 Ride Today 7/16

(33 posts)
  1. Good morning, all. Today is WWM's and Andy's first day of the MS 150 ride. That's 150 miles over two days! They will need lots of support, cheers and good nutrition and what better place than the TDK Cafe for that!

We are serving up bananas (sorry, AV, but they're essential for bike rides!), oatmeal, cereal, eggs, sausages, bacon, bagels and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which are staples at rides as well. And let's not forget the all important coffee. There is Gatorade as well :)

Come on in and cheer for Betty and Andy and hang out for a while!

  2. *dresses in cheerleader outfit and starts shaking pom poms* Go Betty and Andy!!! Keep safe and ride well!!!!

Hi GD!!! How are you today?

  3. *gags* at the thought of bananas....... but the rest of the spread looks nice :)

...... I'm enjoying cold pizza this morning (one of my favorites) and a having a lazy start to a hot and sunny day!

...... 'heres' to Betty and Andy, may our prayers and support go with them, as they ride for this most worthy cause!

  4. Morning, CM and AV! CM, looking good in your cheerleader outfit :)

Oooh, AV, cold pizza sounds good!

I'm at work till 1:00, then running around dog-sitting, running errands, stopping by my place to spend a bit of time with the boys, then running around again. I need a break!

  5. Good Morning GD, CM, and AV! I also thought of WWM this morning. Banana protien drink is in the blender with a couple of strawberries to add a yummy flavor!

Got out my pom poms and megaphone!!! My prayers are with them that they may stay hydrated and safe on their ride. GOOOOO TEAM!!

  6. Morning, SM! How are you feeling? And how is your friend's son doing?

Posted 10 months ago by GD #

  7. He was not stable to get out of the country and communication is difficult. So we sit and wait and pray. He was in critical condition. There are several that are having some issues right now. I am not fond of waiting, but it is something that military families do a lot of. As for me I am doing pretty good! Going to work on cleaning the house--have to vacuum all the hair out!

  8. There was a breeze blowing from the Texas boarder!! I think all thos wheels turning is stirring the air a bit!!

Posted 10 months ago by SoxsMom #

  9. Hope he'll be alright, SM.

As for you - DON'T CLEAN THE HOUSE!!!! You're supposed to relax!!

Posted 10 months ago by GD #

  10. Actually I am encouraged to move. If I have much pain he wants to know by Monday. He can then adjust the next plan of action. I think it involves more needles and I real have had enough of them!! I have my walking buddy--all 60 pounds of Bassetty Love in 2 inches of legs ready to trot around the block. He loves walking by the prairie dogs--they frighten and fascinate him!

Posted 10 months ago by SoxsMom #

  11. Aww, take him for a walk, then. But no cleaning :)

  12. While waiting for a very strong Cinnamon Mocha coffee with a warmed raisin pastry,I'll grab my pom poms for the hip hop horray conga line!!

Go Betty & Andy!! We know you'll do us Proud!!

  13. Yes cleaning or I will be in the hospital with an asthma attack! I am allergic to my animals. We have an agreement, I get to have my furry friends live with us as long as I can breath--Mr. SM is pretty firm on this one! It is also bath time for the dogs. I already wiped down the cats this morning.

  14. I know the feeling, SM. The boys' hair make me wheeze :(

Posted 10 months ago by GD #

  15. Vacuum for the hair and wipe them down GD. Normally it isn't so much the hair on a cat, but the saliva that dries and flakes from them when they groom. Cat dander is an allergy trigger. Since I am allergic to most things that grow, my dogs are a bigger allergen this time of year. They roll in grass and romp in the field. I have to vacuum up the allergens they bring in!

  16. Afternoon all. I'm allergic to mine as well. I vacuum relatively often because of this lol

Posted 10 months ago by Kit #

  17. I vacuum daily and steam clean the carpets once a week--it is the only way we can all exist together!

Posted 10 months ago by SoxsMom #

  18. I took shots for a while so mine aren't as bad as they used to be. I vacuum every few days and it works out for me :)

Posted 10 months ago by Kit #

  19. I have had allergy shots for over 20 years. Mr. SM loves my furry friends and he loves me, but the furry friends will have to go if I can't breath. Since he is gone he has tried to make sure a kid from the neighborhood takes care of the yard--that really hurts, but he put in a few whiskey barrels for me to plant flowers in. He had a student rip out all the bushes in the front of the house. He is putting in yucca--a plant that suprisingly doesn't bother me much even when it blooms. He had Mini SM put in cactus in all the planters--I love cactus and again even when they bloom I don't have a problem. Slowly but surely Mr. SM is ridding the yard of as many allergens as possible--I am scared sick he will rip out the front lawn! I love green grass.

  20. My cleaning is done for today!...... I too struggle with allergies, but over the years have learned to keep them under control - very few carpets in my house..... mostly hardwood - I dust every day, vacumn probably every other day, and do a deep cleaning of everything once a week....... only Abby lives inside, Siamese don't shed as much as normal cats, so that's good for me...... Luna and Venus stay with Son, and Cuddles lives in the apartment...... I do have a couple of those robot vacumns that I run during the week, and they do a good job on the wood floors.......

.... basically, it's just a constant 'keep up' with things........ I try not to let things go too long, cause then it's a MAJOR project to get things back to my normal level of 'sanitary'.........

..... I'm getting the 'stink eye' from Miss Abby right now - she jumped up to get in my lap, and 'that stupid sliver box' was there /:(

Posted 10 months ago by AV #

  21. wow and I thought my allergies were bad! sorry hard to type when you're being climbed like a tree by a rambunctious kitten. Silly Resa!

Posted 10 months ago by Kit #

  22. Kit, LOL!...... Abby doesn't try to climb me, but she is definitely put out because that 'silver box' is taking up her place in my lap! (how dare that thing??)

..... I'm sitting here going over my receipies for gumbo.... I think I'm going to make a big slow cooked pot of veggies, sausage, chicken and such this afternoon, and just let it simmer until Mr. AV gets home from golf......we have a weekend to ourselves, and am loving having the time to relax!......

  23. I was working on my costume but I got mad at it and took a break. Thinking of taking a nap, got in bed late last night because of the movie and still got up at the same time as normal. *yawn*

Posted 10 months ago by Kit #

  24. what are you making a costume for?.... sounds fun!

Posted 10 months ago by AV #

  25. Well I mostly do Star Wars costumes. Was working on my Mandolorian costume :) I wear them to conventions. I have Gen Con in Indianapolis in two weeks or so and then DragonCon in Atlanta labor day weekend. :)

  26. Kit, those are great!..... you are VERY talented!!!!.....

.... in college (eons ago) I was 'Princess Leia' for my sorority costume ball!..... WON 1st prize!...... * think * it was the hair doo - at the time, my dark brown hair was waist length, and it made perfect twin pony tails that wound around my ears...... just like the first SW movie!..... LOL .... so much fun!...... If I can dig up that pic, I'll post it for you!
