  1. 'If you could have dinner with one person throughout the history of time, whom would it be?'

This question was posted on Pioneer Woman, and it's such an intriguing question that I thought I'd ask my littermates. I think one of mine would have to be:

    Princess Diana

  2. Wow - there are so many!!!! Abraham Lincoln would certainly be at the top of my "wish" list.

  3. Anyone in history? Well, for historical figures I'd say Jesus. I would like to hear him teach in person.

But who I would most like to eat dinner with would be my paternal grandparents who died when my dad was a boy, so I never knew them. Also, my maternal grandparents who died when I was young so I didn't get to know them very well. And most of all, I'd give anything to share dinner again with my parents. Mama has been gone ten and a half years. Dad has been gone almost four. I may be a grown woman but I will always feel somewhat an orphaned little girl without my parents.

  4. My Mother and Grandmother.

I would like Princess Diana too...

  13. FH, you aren't even going to believe me, but that went through my head when I saw the question. I'm related to a woman who lived next to the Bordens & was a witness at the trial and I've always been a Borden buff. I would love to ask her flat out, "did you do it?" (for the record, I don't think she did).

  14. Like Marnet I would first like to speak with Jesus--what a wonderful teacher!! I think I would have to pass on the Lizzie Bordon meal--would be like dinner with Hannibel Lector--I'd wonder what is in the fava beans!!!!

Oliver Wendell Holmes--both Sr. and Jr.!! Elizabeth I would also be on my wish list!!

  16. Sorry, but I'm confused, JK

Are these the plates you'd want to use during the meal?

Posted 10 months ago by FondaHonda #

  17. No, there really isn't a link to (Sidonie-Gabrielle)Colette's table this is the closest discription to her era as appreciation to visual, earthly senses.

  18. My dad, who passed away when I was three.

Posted 10 months ago by Dee #

  19. Mr. Rogers, who I try to be more like every day. That man was a truely good and kind person. Diana would be interesting too though. Maybe the Apostel Paul, just to ask what his true beliefs were since so many alterations have been made to his letters and some attributed to him aren't even his. Family wise, my Nana, I want to understand why she never told us about my biological grandfather before she died.

  20. Jesus, Mother Theresa, Leonardo Da Vinci or Michelangelo

I also would like to know the identity of Jack the Ripper, but probably not to eat with him...

  23. I can't pick one, heck I can't even pick one category! So here goes:

Religious: St's Peter and Paul; Pope John Paul II; Martin Luther
US History: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, heck - all the founding fathers
    Fun: Blackbeard
Family: Of course Mom and Dad but also my Mom's Father, he was assassinated in Armenia
Somethings I'd like to witness: The Resurrection; Signing of the Declaration of Independence; The Boston Tea Party

Oh the realms of fantasy.. I really like this thread

  24. JBB...you have an Armenian background? So do I! My father was born and raised in Armenia...and his brother was killed as an infant in the Turkish-Armenian war. There are not too many Armenians around here...I have only met one other since I came down here in 1984.

Posted 10 months ago by Dee #

  25. Yes, my great grandfather was an Armenian Bishop, and my Mom's Father was in the underground in Boston. He went back to be part of the rebels (I guess). I have a copy of his obituary somewhere but it's in Armenian! My cousin was supposed to get it translated (she worked for the super spy agency that shall remain nameless but is here in Maryland!) and I don't know whatever happened after that.

My Mom told us stories of how the the women were raped and mutilated during the war. She heard the stories from her Mom.

My brother and I favor the Armenian side where my sisters favor the Scotch/German side of the family.

I'm always on the lookout for Armenian names!

Posted 10 months ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  26. Oh, yeah...you can always tell us by our last names. My grandmother was grandma Hovnanian and my father's last name was Sahagian, but he had it changed.

Posted 10 months ago by Dee #

  27. Mom's was Minasian. She said depending on how it was pronounced you could tell the rich from the poor. Her pronunciation was poor.

Posted 10 months ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  28. And a regret: mom had told us once (well more than once I know) all her siblings names in Armenian. They had Armenian and American first names. Only one I remember is one of my Uncle's not sure how it's spelled but it's pronounced like New-bar. Of course Mom was from Boston so it sounded more like New bah! I wish I had all that info now.

Posted 10 months ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  29. I'm trying to remember... I have a friend and I was sure he said he was Armenian. Last name Zahab. I suppose that could have been changed through the years though. Interesting history here !! Thank you both for sharing.

  30. It's a difficult question:
    definitely Jesus and Mary Magdalene
    William Shakespeare and Geoffrey Chaucer
Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth 1 (at the same table - could be fun!)
King Arthur (to find out if he really existed and if he did who he really was)
I would say my Mum and Dad, but it would be too hard to part with them again at the end of the meal
    Stephen Fry and Alfie Boe

    .........

So many people and so little time..
