   my grandfather just got rushed to the hospital by hellicopter. It doesn't look good. he had a big blood clot in his brain that they operated on and now he's on a ventilator and there is no brain activity. thanks.

    Gini, I am so very sorry. I hope that your grandfather has led a long and happy life. I hope that you have wonderful memories of him that will stay with you forever. And I pray that you will be able to understand that there is a quality of life versus a quantity of life. All of us are this journey and we all know that the journey will end. I pray that for your grandfather it will be with peace and with dignity. None of us would hope for more.

    There are miracles in medicine. But there is that moment when someone far greater than us takes control. The hardest part is for those left behind. No matter what happens in the next few hours, I pray that your grandfather will receive the best of care through the loving hands of his health care providers. And I pray that those of you who love him, and who wait, will know the peace that we all do come to an end in this life. But never in the next.

    An update: I got the full story of what happened.

    He fell down the stairs and hit his head on a cabinet causing his brain to bleed. They drained some of the blood but his brain is inactive. he's not responsive and his eyes aren't dialating. he might pass during the night, and if not, decisions will ahve to be made.
