Come join me at the pool! Air-conditioned porches enclose one area of the pool, and at the other end, hot tubs are just right for our Kiwi friends. All is set for a spectacular sunset.
Isn't TDK Land awesome? :)
Specials for the day/evening are grilled fresh Maryland crabcakes and just-picked Jersey corn on the cob. There's pink lemonade - spiked and unspiked, as well as martinis. For dessert, the special is strawberry-rhubarb pie - the strawberries and ruhbarb were in the garden this morning - now THAT's fresh!
Of course, there's all sorts of other stuff that we can throw on the grill and plenty of drink mixes that we can put in the blender.
Leela and Comet have decided to come out and enjoy the sunset at the pool/hot tub and supervise the wait staff - black cats and tuxies are here to serve your every need (although they are both quite interested in the Koi pond). Cool compress? Warm towel? Just whistle!

Hiya! Greetings from New Orleans!! It's been hot and steamy here but having a good time. The food is delicious and I would weigh 100 pounds more in a month if I lived here

The kitties and I have done nothing today, it's too hot to move. I've been on the computer or napping. the kitties are on the hardwood floor or the linolem in the kitchen.
we have had plenty of water. the kitties love their cat water fountain and I have been drinking water, milk, or diet soda. i had a peanut butter saNDWICH FOR BREAKFAST. i am not hungry because of the heat. i have seen the kitties eat, but not much.
all three of us love the idea of the TDK pool lounge. i will bring my kitties with me.
I would like a grilled cheese sandwich and some corn on the cob. i would also like some of that strawberry rhubarb pie. i will eat it all at poolside. an ice cold coke zero would be great too. thank you. the kitties would like to share a crumbled up cooked hamburger.
thank you Joan for the TDK pool lounge !!! we will be there in less than a minute...

Evening hot Night Shifters, if it is of any help we have a freezing Antarctic storm heading up the country with snow falling in the southern parts as low as on beaches and it's travelling up towards KK & Jcat overnight with freezing and below temperatures. I'm sure KK & Jcat will be only too happy to swap some cold for some heatwave. I'm expecting the chill in about 24 hours and will be happy to share the chill.

... LOL @ Joan!.... can I help, by setting up some HUGE fans from Tampa, toward So.Hemp........ we were SO hot today, but 'finally' my sequined tutu did it's due, and it rained buckets about 4:30 pm (yay!).....
... love the NS tonite, Joan!.... well done! Crabcakes are some of my favorite all time foods, and I love to make them myself!.... I'll take a couple of those, with some spicy Remoulade sauce and an ice cold glass of a nice NZ Marborough country Sauvignon Blanc .......

Just got our power back on, rain poured for an hour or two and took the power with it. Still have lightning and thunder outside so going to shut down the computer in a minute or two until it stops. Hope that everyone has a good night and keeps either warm or cool depending on where you are. Be back after the storming has stopped :)

Earlier I heard something sounding like grunting along with squeaking, which would translate into a bear and some raccoons, but didn't see anything by the time I looked out.
Catch everyone one the flip side - enjoy the pool (it's 91 here now at 11:30pm) and the hot tubs - agency kittehs are working weekend overtime!
Oh and I was just outside here in Jersey - the sky is crystal clear - can see billions of stars! Be careful out there to those of you dealing with storms.Posted 10 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

They said the humidity makes it feel like 115! The kind of air that makes it hard to breathe. Hubby checked on our elderly neighbors yesterday; I will stop by tomorrow. We have a path that runs to each other's property. It's a lake community that used to be seasonal; they have the former shuffleboard court and we have the sidewalk that leads to it.

Sure Feral, I'll have one too! Then it's off to bed. The heat makes it tough to do anything except watch the cats lay around, lol!

How did you know, Feral? I'm so glad I splurged and bought rainbow sherbet the other day - it was so refreshing this afternoon.
Ok, now I'm really shutting down and going to bed - 'nighty-night all!Posted 10 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Evening Deb, it's a cold evening here and going to get even colder tomorrow. It's snowing all through the South Island and moving on up into the North Island overnight. To top that off KK has just had a rattly roller of a quake, 5.2
It's a fun night in NZ tonight.
Ohhhhhhhhh, that burger does look good.Posted 10 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Evening Jan, oh that is not a good rock 'n roller of a quake :( I bet its a fun night in NZ tonight, saw the snowy pictures too. It did rain here today for a good 2-2.5 hrs so the plants are happy, lots of lightning and thunder to go with the showing of the wet stuff. Calmed down now so doing laundry and general picking up around the house.

Rain! It rained at your place! Kaloo kalay, that is great.
I'm just sorting through recipes for lamb shanks, have to get them into the slow cooker quickly in the morning and need to get it organised tonight as well as make Mr MS's lunch.Posted 10 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Ah ha, organization has slipped away from my house lately :) Seems the more I try to keep it in line, the more chaotic it becomes, lol. Monday morning the plumbers are coming to tear up the driveway and front yard to fix the water line leak under the driveway. Just have to remember to park my car across the street so they can do it.

Hullo ladies, I'm popping in, in between trying to get the house a bit tidier (my Mum's coming tomorrow); dusting and vacuuming will have to wait till all the stuff is picked up, lol, Millie is having a great time 'helping'. Libs just came in for a big dinner, suffered a wee groom and cuddle but has now disappeared again, silly girl. They were predicting snow down on the flat here but I haven't seen any...
-
I'm back, lunch made and tomorrows dinner ready to fling together and into the slow cooker in the morning. Phew!
Sipping a bourbon before I head for bed.
Deb, sounds like organised chaos, just remember the car parking bit and you'll be set.Posted 10 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

YET Jcat, no snow yet but it sounds like it will be coming. Keep warm.
I'm heading off to bed after stoking the fire to get through the night. I'll catch up with you tomorrow and see if you have the white stuff on the ground.

Figure that they won't let me forget the parking bit as they will be here at sparrow fart hour to start.
WTH is wrong with people this week, first the Norway thing, then I think it was a Florida shooting spree and now one in Texas.....whatever you do, obviously don't drink the Kool-Aid! And we can't forget the natural events, like the sinkholes even under beds.

Smack my head, missed you Jane while I was typing. That is so cool that your Mum is coming to visit :) I have been working on laundry here and there when it stopped raining, the humidity is rising outside though.

Hi, Deb, I got stuck here, had to answer an email and then a certain little moaning Millie demanded to climb on my lap. Am enjoying having her furry highness but I had better get back to the tidying. We are about to try and make that road trip to Taupo, Deb, but with the snow on the desert road, we won't be going tomorrow like we originally planned, may have to wait a day or two till the sun comes out...
Nighty-night, MS, you keep warm too, sleep well and sweet dreams, and scritches to HRH. Deb, are you sleeping or awake, lol? Sweet dreams and sleep well to you too if you're off to bed, otherwise have a great day, hope the drive-ripper-uppers don't bother you too much!
