  2. After chatting w/co-worker realized it is time to be a bit more serious in my healthy/fit quest! (He lost 25 lbs since Christmas by just watching his noms as part of Weight Watchers!) Yup, it is Summer, sometimes too hot to push it up a notch...but hey, just gotta do it!

  3. Keeping up with trainer 2x/wk. Hula is increasing as competition gets closer. Now ~2 hours twice a week. And we need even more than that !

    And back to eating healthy... after some time in NOLA !

  5. As I've mentioned (gee, did I mention this already? :P), I did awesome at the gym today (an hour on the spinning bike) and it was my third day in a row of getting to the gym. I don't hurt and I actually feel good (well, except for my stupid head, but that's a whole different matter).

  7. Made it to the gym again this morning, but there was a spinning class going on & all the ellipticals were taken - oh no, what to do? So I tried a new machine, sort of a cross between an elliptical & a stair stepper. Felt totally off balance the whole time (hate that), but did 30 minutes. Guess I have to get there earlier if I want to be sure to get an elliptical.

  8. I re-started my plan again today (and joined the office "Biggest Loser" contest). Had to run an errand at lunchtime but going to walk during lunch again (inside for now). I'm ready!

  10. I'm taking a rest day too, WWM, but I'm using some of it to try to figure out how I'm going to add weights/resistance training to the cardio I've been doing.

    I've been to either the gym or the pool 8 of the past 12 days, and there's no spinning class tomorrow so I'll be there spinning my little heart out.

  12. Kilroy, do them on alternate days...cardio one day, weights the next. That way you're not in the gym all the time. and remember ladies, you're stronger than you think, so lift heavier!

  13. Thanks Linda! I think I'll go to the gym to do weights anyway; the last time I did them at home George was jumping up trying to grab the weights (never does that to Mr. K, silly cat). So I'd either have him jumping at me or howling from the other side of a closed door :)

  14. yeah, it's much easier to do weights at the gym, altho I remember seeing a "work-out" that the woman used her cat as weight...it was like that cat in the Peanuts comics...real relaxed and limp. Would go over like a ton of bricks at my house...squirmy and hissy, if you know what I mean!

  15. I like weights cause you can see improvement, much more quickly than cardio. Hardest for me is diet. My favorite quote is from Missy Cole, a bikini fitness competitor..."you can't out exercise a crappy diet"

  16. That's the exact opposite of Mr. K's theory on things, although his diet isn't really crappy, he just eats (and drinks) whatever he wants. His theory is "your body will forgive you just about anything if you exercise". Who knows?

  20. Another night of hula on the agenda for tonight. ie - good leg exercise !

    I, too, like the improvement I see because of lifting weights. Plus - it's good for the bones ! Trying to keep osteopenia/porosis at bay. And it just feels good to be in shape and physically able to the things I want to do.

  21. Made it to the gym this morning, 1 hour HARD cardio between the spinning bike & the elliptical.

    So let's see: yesterday, took a day off, didn't exercise & ate greasy stuff, felt GROSS. Today, made it to the gym, no yucky eating, feel great. I think I need this to sink in (I think it's starting to).

  22. HOOAH, Kilroy!

    Some guys in our bike club have organized a group for early morning rides and so we rode with them Tuesday and again today. I was a little afraid that I wouldn't be able to match their pace but actually, I think that they are going slow!

  28. 35 minutes on the elliptical today, kind of ran out of gas. Have a lane reserved at the pool on Sunday, will probably take a bike ride tomorrow if not too hot.
