  5. Hi all....still in one piece!! Most of the riots are happening in the opposite part of london to me, although the trouble in Croydon was a bit too close for comfort. My sister works for the Crown prosecution service in croydon, so I am not sure if she has managed to get in to work to-day. Also my nephew is in the police, so that also is worrying. I think most people are a bit gobsmacked that this is going on, another friend has an off licence in Ealing and she and her husband were very scared ...mind you if I saw a group of about thirty young men heading towards my shop with hoodies and their faces covered I think I would be slightly concerned!! But at the moment we are all fine, my heart goes out to all the people that have lost business and homes though. Hopefully, this will all be brought under control soon, never thought I would say this, but it kind of makes you ashamed to be English.

  6. Not really glad that there is rioting in London but glad that its not near you, hope that your sister and nephew stay safe. May it calm down soon.

  7. Good to hear that you're fine in your pat of the city DavesMum. All this has been very worrying indeed and gobsmacked is a very good description. I certainly hope things calm down sooner rather than later. Sending Positive Thoughts for your family and friends.

  9. Just heard some more news from Daves dad, apparently Hammersmith is going to be targeted to-night.....don't know if that is just rumour mongering, but we have a huge shopping centre here, designer shops, the lot. This could cause huge problems as it is right near the BBC centre and the Hospital that I work in. Yesterday underground stations were being closed, if they close the stations round here there will be chaos!! I would love to find these people and give them a good slap around the chops.

  10. DM, I do now blame you, from the article above the comments made by some of the ppl are so flipping stupid...."others have free stuff, so why can't I" and things like that, argh!

Posted 9 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  11. It's just ridiculous Azdeb, It's hardly free is it??? Stupid people YOU ARE STEALING IT IS NOT FREE!!! I could go round looting stuff I need, but I prefer working for it instead!!! We are now hearing that all the local shopping centres are closing early.....it's bonkers :(

  12. DM, oh I agree with you wholeheartedly!!!! Dumb people, never could understand looters :(

  13. OMG I had no idea apparently my head is in the sands so to speak! This is apalling! I am praying for the safety of law abiding and good citizens, this is tragic!

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our
heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove
ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will.
Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and
    pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;
from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend
our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes
brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue
with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust
the authority of government, that there may be justice and
peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we
may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth.
In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness,
    and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail;
all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  14. Ok, people are being sent home early from here at the Hospital, cannot believe this is going on. We've heard there are things kicking off all over West London, and riot police are being sent out.Just hope all my colleagues get home safely.

  20. Stay safe, DM!

  21. Prayers for you DM and the rest of London. This makes no sense as there is nothing to be gained and much that will be lost if this continues. How long before they declare their version of Marshall Law?

  22. It is very scary, and for some reason it is spreading to other towns too. Most of it, so far as I can tell, is about looting and causing damage rather than making any point about the original incident. I hope it goes away as quickly as it started.

Posted 9 months ago by metsa #

  23. See the damage they are causing: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14461868

  24. Hi, all. I live in Herts. and as yet that county is completely unaffected. My husband is at home on his own, but he rarely goes into London, so he should be OK. I'm in France with DD and don't drive home until MOnday next week. I avoid all main cities and towns on my route home, so that should be fine too. MCW how is Notts? Pika, are you OK in your area? I heard a rumour there were plans for a demo there.

  25. Prayers for safety to all those near the areas with these troublesome people.

PM, glad that your husband is and should be ok, may your travels home be safe as well.

Posted 9 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  26. Agree Metsa, more about the looting and causing general mayhem than making any idealogical point. Such a shame to see the horrific damage. May you all be safe and the hearts and minds of the rioters be brought to civility.

  27. Hello all. Nottingham had some copy cat violence last night, but the police got on top of it pretty quickly. Could NOT believe my eyes when I saw the news pictures this morning...I thought how London in the Blitz must have looked similar.

I have no time at all for these mindless thieving thugs, or the bleeding heart liberals who say it's because the young feel "disenfranchised". What complete rubbish. Stick 'em in the army, that'd franchise the little toerags.

Sorry. Don't normally get political. Rant over.

Dave's Mum - hope you got home OK.

  28. Glad to hear things are relatively under control in your corner of the world, MCW. I do hope Dave's Mum checks in when she gets home.

  29. Dave's Mum - please let us know you're OK!

    Posted 9 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  30. Does anyone have Davesmum's email? Really had hoped she would have checked in to let us know she made it home OK.
