  1. Good morning, afternoon, evening to all of our TDKers around the world! Everyone, please bring a favorite dish...it would be great if you could post a recipe, too. We would love if our members in the UK, NZ and SA would post a favorite breakfast or brunch recipe!

  7. Dee, its been staying around 100 degrees here but humid (ok desert humidity not FL humidity) without rain near my house... That Land and Sea sure gets good deals :)

  8. Gosh, I wish you guys would catch a break and get some rain.

Yeah, Land and Sea has great deals. A friend of mine said, "Uh-oh, I would not trust discounted fish." But, like any good market, they will hand you the fish to look it over and smell it. Everything has always been really fresh.

  9. I wish that all of us would get rain, especially since it is supposed to be *monsoon* season.

Hey bargains are always a good thing, and any good market will not let their stuff go bad.

  10. Morning, ladies, Happy Birthday Dee!, how are you both? Had dinner with a friend who's visiting from further up the island today, but because it's Tuesday, everything was closed, we ended up at a pub to eat! Food wasn't bad but not marvellous either. Still it was lovely to see her. She is teaching in the morning and was exhausted from driving down and teaching today so she went back to her hotel at 8.30pm, lol!

  11. Evening Jane :) Sounds like it was a decent day with the pub food and the visiting with your friend.

  12. It was, Deb, it was a good day. I see it's your Friday tonight, you must be looking forward to the weekend!

  13. Hi, Jcat! Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Why is everything closed on Tuesday?

Posted 9 months ago by Dee #

  14. Dee, the area I live in (countryside, good weather, vineyards, great cafes) is now a favourite holiday destination for stressed-out Wellingtonians to spend the weekend. So everything is open in the weekend here and then the poor old exhausted cafe and restaurant and vineyard owners etc close on Mondays -- but because it's winter right now, lots of them are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well.

  15. Hello, everyone! I'm bringing a goulash dish. Brown about a pound or pound and a half of hamburger (depending on how much meat you like in yours); chop some onions enough to flavor and put into the meat while browning. I cook about a 12 or 14 oz. box of macaroni until almost done; add meat, onion, (and I like to add some chopped green pepper to mine and a little can of mushrooms). Some people like to put the mixture into the oven for a little while, but I like mine just off the stove. When mixed thoroughly, put some on a plate and serve with a little shredded cheese (letting it melt on top).

  16. So you have to join the crowds to get to the good places? That bites. I like pub food, too!

Posted 9 months ago by Dee #

  17. Morning Ladykat and your goulash sounds wonderful. My dad makes it about the same way w/o mushrooms.

  18. Hee hee, Dee, 'crowds' in NZ is a relative term... Well, it is the midnight hour here so can I add my Kiwi recipe tomorrow please? I think I am off to bed (*yawn*). Nighty-night everyone, sleep well and sweet dreams when you get home, Deb, and scritches to the crew, everyone else have a great day!

  25. Hi all! Is it too late to bring a Danish breakfast to the cafe? (personally I got up five hours ago, but feel it's never too late for breakfast!)
I'm bringing an enormous stack of Danish pancakes (what's called Swedish pancakes in the US, but they're a staple in Denmark, as well). I'm also bringing sugar, powdered sugar and various jams to fill them with.
And no Danish breakfast is complete without shots of Gammel Dansk or Akvavit. Thats right - those crazy Danes have alcohol with breakfast :)

  26. Thanks GD, I've been hungry for pancakes lately! Deb, that was awesome about the dolphin!

  27. I made pancakes for GG a few weeks back. It takes forever and smells up the whole house, but they're so worth it!

Posted 9 months ago by GD #

  28. Hi GD! Did you feel all the waves of white light washing over you on Friday? We were all thinking of you.

Danish pancakes sound yum, I'll take a stack, pretty please, with raspberry jam.
