Tonight we are having a desserts only NS! It's Monday and we all need a boost to get thru the rest of the week. The kits are pulling out the chocolate fountain to dip fruits and pretzels in. We have cheeses and fruits, cookies, pies, cakes, brownies, strawberry shortcake, cobbler, puddings, ice cream, and coffee/tea to go with it all. The bar is open and there are tasty mixed drinks made to order. Come on by. I am going to have some pudding and chocolate dipped pretzels and a diet pepsi. I will be on the couch. Betty and Wilma will be around to greet and visit with you!

Hi MC & KG. Hope your feeling better Amy. Can't stay.Gotta feed the furbutts. Just wanted to give a shout out that a gal needs some help & I don't have the puter know-how to add links for her. She's on the "3 Week old Kitten thread. She sounds like she really needs the help.

Hi MC and welcome Kittygirl! All the food in the cafe and night shift is virtual, so you can have anything you can think of. Since there's brownies, I'll have a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry.
*scritches to Wilma and Betty as Joan flops down on a chair by the couch* Leela and Comet have decided to tag along as well; Comet has a spot of whipped cream on his nose.Hi Feral! *waving*

Evening all! Students first day was today!! AMAZING day!! No sweets for me, sorry. I have a wonderful seafood salad I made for dinner.
Hope all are well and that everyone has something good happening to them today--have to hold onto the gifts and celebrate them daily!

Hi all! Geez went away to make myself some dinner and boom! the NS gets busy. Glad the girls were around to be hostessess. Tomorrow is the big day! I get my staples out! I hope they pull the drain too, can't imagine why they wouldn't because I am hardly draining anything.

Mmmm, popcorn... *passes big bowl of yummy popcorn to AV, swipes a handful first*
Wishing you a fantastic 2011-2012 school year, SM! We don't start till after Labor Day around here. My bus passes will be going out this week. I always worry that I screwed up. As long as I haven't made any safety related mistakes, I can handle what happens.
Yay for staple-taking-out-day, MC - good luck!Posted 9 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Joan keep the popcorn to yourself, I really want some but can't have any. Am supposed to avoid it "at all costs" as it could really hurt if it got stuck right now. I will take the free smells though!

... thanks for the popcorn, Joan!...... it's just what I need to put myself to sleep - big day tomorrow with a presentation and long drive!...... I made myself a grilled roasted red pepper and fontina cheese sami tonight for dinner, it was really yummy!.... tomorrow I'm making fish miso soup .... both dishes Mr. AV isn't fond of, so I have them while he's away ;)
... I'm still hoping Irene will blow east, but I'm afraid my trip to Miami is 'iffy' at best!

AFternoon everyone, popcorn sounds good, but I am having pulled pork and coleslaw sammies this evening and maybe ice cream to follow :)
Went to Ace Hardware for one thing and walked out $24 later, sad but at least they were things I could really use.

Well, the laundry is done, the Giants are beating the Bears (sorry MC) and I have to be rested to deal with that place in a halfway decent frame of mind, so... nighty-night all!

Joan I HATE the Bears, Colts are my team so I hope Chicago loses. I can't stomach Cutler. He & I grew up a few miles apart in Indiana.

Oh good, MC. The giants are stomping all over them!

Here's a really light pudding for all of those of you suffering with the heat:
Lemon (or lime) snow
2 lemons (3 - 4 limes depending on size)
1/2 oz gelatine (sufficient to set 1 pint of liquid I usually use 1 sachet or 1 leaf)
1/2 pint cold water
4 oz sugar
3 egg whitesPut the water into a saucepan, sprinkle the gelatine on top and leave for 5 minutes.
Add sugar, the finely pared rind of the lemons/limes (reserve a little for deoration).
Heat the mixture until the sugar and gelatine have completely dissolved stirring all the time. DO NOT ALLOW TO BOIL.
Strain into a large bowl and set liquid aside to cool.
When liquid is completely cool, but before it sets, add the egg whites and strained juice and using an electric whisk (handheld or kenwood type) whisk the mixture until it is on the point of setting. This can take up to 10 minutes. Standing the bowl in iced water or on crushed ice whilst whisking helps the mixture to set.
Either pour into individual glasses to serve, or one large clear glass bowl. Leave in the refrigerator until fully set. Decorate with reserved rind or candied peel.Posted 9 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

Evening all, feeling tired and have a headache slamming me so may I have a large piece of carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

Lemon snow tastes like lemon sorbet but it just melts away in your mouth and you can't get brain freeze from it.
Hope you feel better soon MS.

I hope Irene behaves herself, but manages to direct a lot of rain towards the parched areas of the US, whilst not doing any damage in the coastal areas.
