  1. Where is everyone today? I'm hungry!

Glen, Bobby and Mi are collaborating on manning the cafe this morning. There is coffee, tea, juices, milk and hot chocolate to drink. There's also an assortment of toast, bagels, pastries, grits, cereal, French toast, hashbrowns, eggs any way you like them, bacon, biscuits and gravy and pancakes.

Bobby and Mi are doing the cooking and Glen is serving this morning. WHat would you like?

  2. .... Morning GD, can't stay long, bustling around trying to get my 'last' day started before vaca...... looks like I'm good for the flight tomorrow...... sadly, it doesn't look good for a meet up - MIL and Bob have our days pretty fully planned, but I'll text you if things change!.......

.... I'll grab a quick bagel, please - scritches and headbonks to Bobby and Mi from Abby and Cuddles!

  3. Morning, AV. I don't like your MIL and Bob :(

  4. Good Morning GD & AV! *scritches to Bobby & Mi* I could go for some scrambled eggs with taylor ham and cheese, along with some cheesy hash browns.
Sure hope this monster of a storm weakens...

  5. What's taylor ham, Joan?

Hubs drove me to work today. He's taking my car to have a leak in the fuel filter repaired, and to price out a new muffler and a tune-up! Wow, a tune-up.....he got a scare when the brakes failed on our truck while we were ready to leave for home from camping in PA. He got to thinking about those huge hills and rugged areas...and a runaway truck and trailer with no brakes. He's starting to change his policy on fixing cars....to do it sooner rather than put it off.

I like that, but it means we'll have credit card debt until we can take care of the last $1200 we put on...and then have to work REALLY hard to keep cash for those more-frequent auto repairs with old vehicles. Sigh. It's a tough balance: keep credit card debt low to non-existent and hope your cars don't fail you, or keep credit-card debt and have safer cars to drive. The choices kinda suck when it comes to $$

  9. Morning all! Sorry I am late to the cafe, for some reason, TDK wouldn't let me sign in. :( Anyways, I am here now! I will have some cream of wheat please, tummy a lit queasy today. I have a big day today, I feel about 90 saying this. I am going to the girl who does my hair for her to wash and style my hair. It's still so hard to wash that she offered to do my hair to make me feel better. She is about three blocks from my house so I am not venturing far. It will be nice to get out and get beautiful! LOL To all who come thru, hope you have a wonderful day! AV, please fly safe, that Hurricane is a doozy.

  10. MC, I can say that I absolutely understand the need to "get beautiful"; you will feel so much better. It's wonderful of your stylist to offer to do that for you.

Posted 9 months ago by Kilroy #

  11. Morning everyone :)

MC, do not even feel like you are about 90 saying by having your hair washed and styled. Think about it in that you are getting spoiled just a titch by having someone do your hair :)

AV, have a safe trip if I don't catch you before you leave.

  12. The door at the Morning Cafe opens. "Good Morning Everyone..." the long missing TDKer calls out. "I've missed you all so much." Mi runs up to her with her favorite hot chocolate and a bear claw but has to wait as hugs to friends and smoochies to kitties are passed around.

  19. It all started last summer. I had finally had enough of the abusive spouse and controlling family of said spouse. So the kid, the cat and I left. I found a great place to live. Made a bunch of wonderful new friends. Regained my self-esteem. Met a wonderful man (whom the cat immediately fell in love with) and (with her and my son’s approval) got married. The biggest change of all is that I moved 275 miles from my beloved Central Coast. Living in Southern California takes some getting used to.

I’ve been lurking on and off over the past year. I recently got an email from a TDKer and it was the nudge I needed to get back to chatting with the best littermates in the universe.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I’ll have some of that ham on a buttermilk biscuit, please.

  20. What a trio of servers! I'll have a sesame bagel, toasted and buttered, and about four eggs scrambled. And a tall mug of coffee to help me get rid of the yawns!

Today is lawnmowing, sewing, cleaning, and then working for a paycheck. But I have a three day weekend, starting tomorrow - which involves visiting friends. Yay!

Hope everything's going well for everyone... good to hear from infrequent folks!

  28. Thank you Ann, GD, Joan, MC, Kilroy, and Katthays for the warm wishes.

Katthays – I know what you mean about missing your children when they move out. My son has been living on his own for about a year. He’s doing very well and has matured quite a bit. It’s sad that I miss him but I’m very proud that he is on his own and doing a great job at it. We teach them to be independent but miss their little footsteps. (((hugs)))

  29. YAY Mittens for rebuilding your life in a positive way, and thank you for sharing your story. Maybe it will give someone else hope that there is a way out of bad situations. Not an easy one. But there IS a way.

  30. Hubby took my car today to the shop. Got the fuel filter leak fixed for $85, but the prognosis for front end work is not good: $800.

That needs to be done before I get my muffler replaced...so far the muffler is still attached to the car (lol) and unless (1) it falls off and makes a nasty break to fix or (2) I get a noise citation, that muffler can just be full of holes awhile longer. Does not affect how the car runs...just how noisily it does its thing :-)
