  1. It's gonna be a windy one here at the Cafe today so the kits took down the umbrellas outside and secured what needed securing. They are putting out Dunkin Donuts on the buffet for all to enjoy. Coffee, tea, cocoa, sodas, juices and water are all available. Kits are keeping vigil at the tv to watch the path of Hurricane Irene. Please come on by and say hello!

Oh, wait, there's no volcanos around here! It's getting kinda blurry having 2 natural disasters in 1 week! (thankfully that earthquake wasn't so bad)

  7. If it gets too bad, you can come through the wormhole & hide under the futon with George and me :) Bring Leemet (and Mr. Joan if he wants to come).

  8. Sounds good Kilroy! If it's worse by you, you are welcome to join my hurricane party!

  9. Good morning from a pleasant sunny & 70ish brewtown. I need my cuppa joe, just a busy morning to start today, hope it calms down in a bit! Paw up waves hi to Amy, Joan, Kilroy, Deb & Sio. Yup, stay safe out there on the East Coast! Me, gonna grab my java with some cinny raisin toast & go...no a smooch for Tux...later!

  10. Nice sunny day outside with poofy white clouds...I'm going to lunch anon, to my favorite Indian buffet...it's been a couple months since I've been there.

Food's really good, but really rich. I can't eat too much, although I want to (lol) I'd never experienced rice pudding so thick! They use coconut milk, and add in nummy aromatic spices, with slivered almonds and cashews and golden raisins.

  11. That sounds yum, Sio. Enjoy every bite :)

  12. Hi JK & Sio. Mmmm, an Indian buffet! (It's a nice sunny day with poofy white clouds here too - brings a feeling of false security.) That pudding sounds delish!

  13. Morning all. I'd like to blame it on an earthquake or a hurricane or something, but I am just plain clutzy. I fell out of bed this morning trying to get out of bed and now have a nice scrape from my waist to my armpit from where I hit the nightstand. I think a yummy lemon donut might make me feel better! LOL

I hope Irene decides to weaken and maybe pull a little bit further out to sea. East Coast peeps, stay safe and dry!

  14. Oh KYK! I'm so sorry you took a tumble like that :( Having just done something similar, I can really sympathize. I think a lemon donut is definitely in order.

  15. Ouch...sending purrs & lite headbonks galore with your lemon dount KK for safe footing today...watch those kits too, sometimes they appear out of nowhere or under your feet! Crockey likes to scoot and lay in the doorways as an obsticle course in the AM on the way to the powder room, oyyy!

  16. Morning, All. I have been reading all of the news about Ms Irene and only hope that she misses all of you. Of course, here it is sunny, 103 degrees and still parched. I wish that I could find those terrorists who are messing with our weather and give them a good, sound hit with my whack-bonk stick.

    Stay safe!

  19. Nummy nom, the buffet was great! I have to be so careful not to over-eat, or I really regret it.

Gonna be selling at a local Scottish Festival tomorrow. It's a very small festival, almost not worth the money we make, but it's only a mile from my front door. Attendance has been declining slowly since the organization lost its most enthusiastic workers. Not sure how much longer this festival will last.

  20. Looks like I got roped into the annual "trip to Indiana" for mom's birthday. Mom's Birthday is Monday so we all coming together in Indianapolis. I will be taking my pain meds and passing out while my sister drives. We will be going down tomorrow and coming back Sunday. I won't mind much since I will go to sleep and wake up when we get there! I told them I may nap a lot and need some extra time to walk places but they understood. Worst case scenario, I will go back to the hotel and sleep.

    Posted 9 months ago by mollycat71 #

  21. MC, they won't mind if you nap or walk slow. They will just be happy that you are there. Cherish spending your mom's birthday with her because, I can say from experience, there will come a day when you just wish so hard that on her birthday you could give her a hug and tell her that you love her.

  23. *pounding head on desk* Finally got a prescription from my NS to have MRI done before I see him next month - it's made out in my MAIDEN NAME, MRI place won't accept it, and NS isn't back in his office until the 30th (he stopped by to pick up messages & sign stuff like that). I TOLD the woman I talked to that my name had changed & the envelope the paperwork came in had my correct last name.

Can't anything be easy? I've had this last name for almost 4 years, for heaven's sake. Luckily my head is dramatically better than it was a week ago, but come on.

On a brighter note, it's still a lovely sunny day in the Big Apple.

  24. Hope the fine weather holds and that Irene bypasses all inhabited areas.

Kilroy - sorry the secretarial system at your NS has let you down. As it was their error is there any chance they can put it right on Monday? They should be able to contact the MRI place and explain it was their error.

  25. I'm hoping so, PM, but things may be a bit upended here first part of next week because of the hurricane that's supposed to roar through this weekend. I'm hoping it's as simple as having the NS office call the MRI place (pretty please).

I should be used to this sort of thing, nothing is ever easy in NYC.

How are you today, PM? How's the weather where you are?

Posted 9 months ago by Kilroy #

  26. Well I'm off now to shop and go home! Tomorrow Will and I will be going to see the Rockstar Energy Drink Monster Jam, yes it's a wonderful distraction! Hopefully Irene says away till I'm home and parked but with my luck lately I will get washed way, down the Susquehanna River to the Chesapeke Bay, then the Atlantic Ocean!

Stay safe everyone, if I have to, so do you!!!

  27. Gizzy's Uncle's family (mom, step dad, brother and family) are all directly in the path of Irene (southern NJ). We are hoping and praying that all will be well for them and all those around them. Fortunately, they are not in a position where storm surge will be a factor, just wind and rain. It's very frustrating to be 3000 miles away.

  28. It's been very wet again today, Kilroy. Heavy rainstorms interspersed with brief sunny intervals. It was so dark at lunchtime we had to turn the lights on!
Apart from fairly severe rust I'm fine. It's almost the end of the Summer Holidays now and I am contemplating a return to work. For the first time in 8 years I'm not really looking forward to it. It's very sad, but the management has rather soured my outlook recently. I'm hoping that the children will restore my enthusiasm once I get back to work.

  29. Oh dear, PM. I hope the school year is better than you're expecting and that you have a wonderful and challenging bunch of students to enjoy.
