  1. Irene has started her path of destruction on the eastern US seaboard and in honor of all TDK'ers and Americans in the path of this hurricane, I just want to say "Go away, Irene!"
Tabbies in raincoats are taking orders tonight and we are eating by flashlight and candle light so those who don't have power won't feel left out. Finger foods, sammies and cold drinks are available. You can also head over to the bar where the Ragdolls will be your bartenders this evening. I have a strong feeling some of us might need a strong drink (or two!) to help get through this weekend...
Prayers, white light and hugs to all that are affected or will be affected by this brutal storm. May God be with us all.

  2. Thank you Roxysmommy for opening the nightshift and wishing us well. Love the tabbies in the raincoats, they look just divine! The ragdolls look most handsome in their tuxes and I will have to just go up and have a beer! Such a nice young man with manners, you did good! The wings are yummy and the veggie tray and fruit trays are to die for. I am sure others will be here to partake of the yummy food and drinks. I have finished my beer, petted the tabbies and ragdolls, kissed and hugged them, on my way out the door. Going to bed. Enjoy the nightshift friends, tomorrow is another day. Thanks again, RM.

  3. Evening RM & Lynn, I'm glad to see the Tabbies are being sensible and wearing raincoats. I'll have some sammies and wings and hed on over to the bar for a drink.
    How are you both doing?

    Posted 9 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  4. Hi RM, Lynn, MS hope you are all well, and I join you in wishing all those in the path of Irene good luck. Let's hope that she veers off towards the East and misses the landmass altogether.

It's breakfast time here, so I'll have a bowl of cereal and a glass of OJ. I'd really like a hot drink, but in solidarity with those who cannot have hot food/drink courtesy of Irene I will forgo that pleasure.

Best send a tabby in a raincoat with the food and drink - the weather is none too good here either.

  5. Evening/morning PM, it's dinner time here. We just had pumpkin & parmesan soup and there is bubble or maybe it's squeak on the stove. Which is which?
Mum reminded me today of bubble squeak and grunt, HM would like it. I also noticed your Mother was born in 1922, mine was born in 1921.
    Have a great Saturday PM.

  6. Hey my mum was born in 1922 too. Her 89th birthday will be next month. Ok, bubble and squeak I know, but what's grunt? Hope we can bid "Goodnight, Irene" soon! (just really had to say that!)

  7. If HM would like it, and thinking of pigs grunting, I'm assuming it's bacon.

    Posted 9 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  8. Lol!

Posted 9 months ago by paulajeanne #

  9. oh sort of like colcannon maybe? (if I spelled that right) cabbage, potatoes, and bacon all cooked together

Posted 9 months ago by paulajeanne #

  10. A prize to the lady in the UK! ! Yes it's bacon. Wow,all three of us with Mothers born in the early 20's.
My bubble? squeak? had cooked to crispy perfection slowly on the stove and then under the grill. I have added finely chopped garlic and smoked paprika with a light topping of parmesan.
    PJ, you're up early.

  11. more like haven't gone to bed yet. fell asleep in front of the tv, and molly is now asleep on my legs (we're on the recliner) so I'm playing on the laptop until she wakes up and decides to take us to bed. now I'm hungry for cabbage.

Posted 9 months ago by paulajeanne #

  12. OK, it must be about 1.35am, not too bad. Airy and I have been known to stay up later and Jcat certainly does.
LOL at you and Molly asleep and being watched by the TV. Awwwwwwwww, you're a kind Meowmy. Have we given the US posters the hankering for a good bubble & squeak? Mmmmmmmmmmm, it's good, I'm eating mine at the moment, all golden brown from the oven.

  13. My mom was born in 1921, too! She had me at 42 and my sister at 44.

Posted 9 months ago by Dee #

  14. I could tel you how old Mum was when she had KK but then you would know how old KK is and a lady likes to have some secrets - but she was older than your Mum was when she had your sister. Mum still drives her car around(and dries me crazy at times). She runs a coffee morning for elderly ladies but she's the oldest by a number of years.

    Posted 9 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  15. Yeah, my mom drives everyone nuts. But, then again, she always has...haha!

And back then, when my mom had my sister and me and your mom had KK, it was very rare for women to have babies in their 40s.

Posted 9 months ago by Dee #

  16. Very rare indeed.
Back then women didn't announce they were 'expecting' (pregnant wasn't used unless referring to unwed girls, how the times have changed) and many people thought that Mum & Dad had adopted KK. One look at her and you could see she was theirs though.

  17. Love the stories with the animals and doesn't Mimi have a fantastic coat. What a wee cutie in 'kitty loves bunny'.
How are you this evening/morning Deb?
PJ, just saw your post about Colcannon, it's something like that except for bubble & squeak the potato needs to be as dry as possible and the cabbage well drained otherwise it doesn't bubble or squeak and goes mushy. It's best browned and crispy.

  18. Evening Jan :) doing just ducky here, its my Monday and sure wish I had longer breaks.

  19. Weekends go by so quickly, I'm sure they are much quicker than they used to be when we were children.
I think Molly must have woken up and taken PJ off to bed, she hasn't posted for several hours now. Either that or she has fallen asleep in her chair with the TV watching her again.
We took Airy to the train this morning and she arrived at KK's after 6 this evening. Last time we txtd/IM's they wee sipping wine. It's a hard life!

    Posted 9 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  20. Lol, Airy and KK lead a rough life don't they! It does look like Molly whisked PJ off to dream land. I am sitting here watching the storm move along the East Coast, honestly hope she *peters* out before doing a lot of damage. And yes weekends were MUCH longer when I was a child.

  21. Just read on BBC that Irene has been downgraded to Category One, don't know when this was but hope it is correct.

    Posted 9 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  22. It was awhile ago before it even got close to North Carolina, from the pictures the wind would screw up anyone's hair-do right now. The news just said the winds are gusting up to 94 mph in NC right now.

  23. Earworm warning! !
This song has been featured on an advert and I can't ge it out of my head. It is hauntingly beautiful. I don't know the lyrics, I only ever listen to the music.

ROTFL at 'screw up anyones hairdo' a great description of Wellington's winds. Lets just hope that Irene's screw up winds give up.

  24. lol, can't listen or watch anything on yt (yes that bites!) here.

Posted 9 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  25. I heard that on the 7.00am news this morning - that's 5 hours ago.

The sun has come out here, but I don't suppose it will last long. What has happened to our summers? I KNOW we used to have a real Summer with several weeks of warm dry weather at a time, interspersed with occasional thunderstorms when it got really hot. I haven't worn a skirt all summer - it's been too cold. Today I have trousers, t-shirt, cardigan, socks and slipper boots on. And the cats are pleased to sit on laps because laps are warm and dry, unlike the world outside.
I think I'll have to "over-cater" today or tomorrow. I have a hankering for bubble and squeak, but I only like it made with white cabbage, not the dark greens!

    Posted 9 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  26. Morning PM, don't know what happened to your summers. All the years I lived in Germany, we rarely had good summers. Italy was a different matter, it was a good summer there to the point of being hot at times.

Posted 9 months ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  27. Oh *$£?&*! Husband has come home and has switched on the Belgian Grand Prix qualifying full volume. It's soooooooooooooooooooooo loud. *sigh*

    Posted 9 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  28. Afternoon PM, now you are hankering for bubble & squeak. Do you know which is the bubble etc? I don't and I remember the girls when they were little asking and being upset when I couldn't give them an answer. Kids ! ! Contrary to popuar opinion, parents don't know everything. Not quite anyway but almost.

    Posted 9 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  29. PM, lol that would hurt my ears.

Jan, always believed that you never let them know you might not know everything.
