  1. It "Hump Day" again! Welcome to the day when we are looking toward a long weekend here in the USA!! The kits were snoozing and forgot to set their alarms. They called Cracker Barrel and they agreed to cater today. SOOOOO, what is everyone doing for their long three day weekend (if you are lucky enough to have a three day weekend)??

  11. Howdy everyone! We're sticking close to home this weekend. Budget for discretionary spending is zero. We're trying to save up cash for my upcoming car repairs.

  12. Night, Jcat! Smooches for Millie & Libs.

No 3 day weekend here, either :( Am I evil if I say I'm kind of looking forward to Mr. K going away for 10 days? He's kind of driving me nuts lately.

ETA: That's the spirit, Sio! :) Boo on the car repairs, but yay for kitties!

  14. Hi Sio and Kilroy!
Your avatar is darling, Sio...those 2 cute little kitts :) Car repairs stink! It always seems like such a waste of money, you have nothing fun to show for it...yet we have to have a car!
Lol on looking fwd to Mr.K's trip....I understand....Hubs is gone alot now, home on weekends...and if he does happen to be home a few days during the week, I find myself wondering....hmmmm, now when does he leave again? LOL!!!!
Seriously, it does get a tad lonely at times, but I am used to it, I guess and don't mind being alone with my boyos :)
JeanKit, I am going to have to report you to KM for saying that swear word that begins with a "w"! For shame!
I'm off to get my weekly shopping done!

  15. This morning out of the blue he says to me, "when's the last time you made your own dinner?", like all of a sudden he resents making dinner for the 2 of us. I pointed out that I'm going to be making my own meals for 10 days while he's gone, but I could have said:

    a. If I make my own dinner either he has to eat later than he's used to or we don't eat together.
    b. When I do make my own dinners, he practically forces me to eat some of whatever he's made ("here, just try this"), so I end up eating too much.

    Harrumph.

  16. Kilroy, or you can tell him that cereal works just fine as a meal :)

  17. Kilroy, I'm sure he is just being grumpy. So what are your plans for your 10 days? I am headed to Memphis this weekend to see an old friend. Mr. KYKAT was supposed to go with me, but has decided that he would just be in the way of us catching up. He also decided that he would like to be home and have the house to himself for a few days. (Especially the big tv and all the football he can stand to watch.) I am sure he is going to live on microwave burritos, hotdogs and other things I don't generally fix. Do you have a special meal you fix when it is only you? Me, I make creamed asparagus on toast points.

  18. Hi everybody! No three day weekend for me but I do get a two day weekend, which I am excited about! There is a block party downtown Kalamazoo on Saturday night that I want to go to plus Sunday morning I am meeting my mom and uncle for garage sales! There is a little village not too far from my mom and the WHOLE village has garage sales!!! It'll be heavenly :) After we bring home our spoils, my mom and aunt are BBQ'ing ribs and all of the fixins for a great Labor Day din din!
Katthays, I'm with you....boooooooooooo to it being the end of summer already! :(

  19. I get to sit with my sister this weekend in her garage as she is having a garage sale. I am the "thief police" as I caught several people last year trying to stuff things into their purses. I am not thrilled about it cause people can be so annoying but it will be good for me to get out and it is nothing strenuous, just sitting.

  20. KYK, I haven't really decided what to do with those days, it only includes 1 weekend, so the rest of the time I'll be working anyway. If the weather is nice that weekend, I might go to the Cloisters, which is an offshoot of the Metropolitan Museum of Art: http://www.metmuseum.org/cloisters/ I'm a sucker for medieval art, and they have lovely gardens.

As far as eating goes, I think I'm going to treat myself to a lobster dinner one night while he's gone (drooling now :) ) As far as cooking, who knows?

Hi MC! I think it's good for you to get out a little bit, just don't overdo it, OK? Did you have your MRI yet, or is that today?

Posted 8 months ago by Kilroy #

  21. Last weekend was a 3 day weekend in UK - the last Monday of August is always a "bank holiday". We don't celebrate "labour day" - sounds too much like a party political broadcast "And now a holiday on behalf of the Labour Party"! :-).
As a teacher I almost never notice our bank holidays, because they are always incorporated into our normal school holidays.
My term starts again very soon. We have INSET days (In Service Training)on Friday, Monday and Tuesday and then the children join us on Wednesday. Oh joy - the start of another year ...

    Posted 8 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  22. MRI is at 12 noon CST. I have to get there at 1145 so they can start the IV. I have been chugging fluids this morning so I am not dehydrated and they don't have trouble getting the IV in.

  23. Good luck, MC (fingers crossed) Roxysmommy, where's the garage sales? Richland? Vicksburg? Mattawan? I'm home this weekend and garage sales are cheap thrills (lol)

Ooh. BBQ ribs. I'll follow my nose :-)

Posted 8 months ago by Siobhan #

  24. Good luck MC.

    Posted 8 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  25. Good job on the fluids MC, and keep it up afterwards to flush out all the yuck (but you know that, right?).

Hi PM! I'm hoping hard that your school term is going to be better than you're anticipating.

Posted 8 months ago by Kilroy #

  26. Thanks everybody. Am heading out now, need to go to post office (YUCK!) and the bank. I want to get my disability check in my account so I can pay rent for September. Be back later! Thanks for the well wishes.
