   California became the 31st state on September 9, 1850. How about a California breakfast?

   Since California cuisine is a combination of many different cuisines, I thought that Bette's Oceanview Diner in Berkeley, near San Francisco, sounded like a great place to eat breakfast. They are known for their pancakes and award-winning scones. I love retro diners...they even have a jukebox! They also rent out the diner for parties...here we all come! And they serve breakfast all day long

   Check out the strawberry souffle pancake.

   Heavens and above this morning, I sound like a flipping barking seal and still have the 18 yards of cotton in my head. Bet that will sound just lovely going into 'that place' tonight lol!

   Trying to catch up on the news this morning, I have been sleeping or rather passing out it seems most of yesterday because I don't remember lying down at all.

   Good morning everyone! I associate Beach Boys with California, so now I've got Beach Boys songs in my head (lol).

   Hubs remembers when he was a college student on a particularly nasty, snowy, windy day, walking across campus with his art portfolio, which kept trying to act like a big para sail, and hearing "Endless Summer" blaring out of a dorm window!

   I think I'll opt for a feta and spinach omelette, with carrot juice. At least I can try to eat healthy here in the cafe (lol)

   Good morning everyone!.......... can anyone explain why I dreamed of pickles last night????!!! LOL

   sooooooooo glad it's Friday, I just want to plop down and do nothing! of course, I've got loads of chores to do, and am having the family over Sunday for dinner, but I should get at least a few hours of down time in........

   ..... Abby has a new 'habit' that is so cute....... Mr. AV has been getting up earlier than me, so her new 'trick' is at about 5 am jump down and sit in the doorway by his side of the bed, and 'stare' him awake.... as soon as his feet hits the floor, she then 'escorts' him first to the bathroom, and then races him down the stairs to the kitchen, where of course she talks him into feeding her immediately....... it's so funny, I hear them now every morning 'discussing' things like 'which flavor do you want today'....'meow, meow, meow'....... so cute!

    Wickles are 'wicked' good!..... in fact, I may get some to go with my cold dinner that I'm serving for the family on Sunday...... they would be a great side with ham and potatoe salad.......

    AV, I love Wickles! There relish is excellent too and is great in potatoe and egg salad :) The Famous Dave's are good with a bit of spice to them.

    Good for Abby! Glen does the same thing. When he hears my alarm, he comes over (sometimes he's sleeping at the foot of the bed, sometimes who knows) and wants pets. He starts purring and almost puts me right back to sleep. Then I go to the bathroom to get ready and when I get out, he always lies "loaf style" on the floor right outside the bathroom door. As soon as he sees me, he then runs for the kitchen where he knows he will get treats and/or breakfast. Then I take off quickly while he's eating so he doesn't try to follow me out the door. GG says when I'm not there, Glen wakes him up around 5:30 since I'm not there for the usual 5:15 wakeup ritual :)

    Hubby left for a Scottish festival in Columbus, Indiana. He won't be back until Monday afternoon.

    So it's me and the kittehs this weekend! I'm thinking about canning up some dilly beans (yellow and green). I did some last year and they were GREAT, but I added twice as much cayenne as the recipe called for (oops my bad) and those suckers were NUCLEAR. Not Nuke-Lee-Ear, nuclear.

    And I can eat whatever I want! Lessee...do I want Indian for lunch today or tomorrow?

    Glen is too cute! He sat on my lap in bed this morning with no intention of leaving. I felt bad having to move him after a few minutes.
    Milo will come when the alarm goes off (he never sleeps in bed) and stand on my chest and run his head against my chin :)

    I'm 'California Dreamin' this morning.....we also lived there, why the blazes did we ever leave?? Oh yeah, it was to move to HI!!!! And we came back to WI, to winter, BLAH! Can you say, D U M B ??? Lol.....hope everyone has a day filled with sunshine!

    Morning, all. Another day, another terror alert in the Big Apple, police dogs & really big men with really big guns in the subway. This never gets easier (somebody remind me why I live here?).

    I ran out of milk last night, so instead of having my usual responsible breakfast of Cheerios & fruit I'm treating myself to pancakes & bacon from the company cafeteria. I'll get milk this weekend, but I just decided it was an excuse for a little indulgence this morning.

    Georgie is still being a good boy, but no snuggling :( Maybe by next Friday when Mr. K comes home?
