...hubby came home with a tiny black kitten with white armpits, a white star on his lower belly and a white tip on his tail. (I hope KM posts his baby picture) Appropriately dressed in black and white, he hails from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - the heart of Amish Country. We thought of giving him a good Amish name, but for various reasons he ended up as Comet - our very own ball of fire!
Tuxies are pulling double duty and shifting things over from the cafe. They have been practicing Amish recipes and the place smells great! Putting a non-Amish spin on things, the martini bar is flowing.
Stop in and have some Amish bread, funnel cake, or a whoopie pie!

YAY! Welcome home Comet! I am so glad your daddy brought you home to Leela! LOL I can't believe you are a year old already. I would love some good old Amish Chicken and Homeade Noodles, their homeade potato salad, delicious breads and yes Amish Peanut Butter (I can eat an entire jar, no bread!)

When I went to visit my daughter in Chicago a couple years ago, we went to a Mexican restaurant that was pretty decent. They made a speciality that was this...

Our young man of the evening is sporting a squinty eye off and on today. Perhaps he got something in it or banged it when he raced past me this morning in an effort to get away from the vacuum cleaner. Will keep an eye on it.
Enjoy the Amish cuisine - I just had a piece of pumpkin roll - yummy!Posted 8 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

For the squinty eyed Comet.... a solution of green or chamomile tea, applied with a cotton ball to the eye should fix. (1 bag to 1 cup of water). And to celebrate Comet's Amish heritage............

Yes, I think it is a Comet thing, lol!
Those recipes make me want to bake! If you have the opportunity to try Amish Friendship Bread I highly recommend it. The peach pie is amazing too. Who am I kidding - it's all really good stuff!
Right now Comet is looking at me with bright clear eyes. Go figure. Don't think I have green tea but I'll check. I will also look tomorrow to see if there's any teramycin left over from Leela. I know if I have it it's sealed up and in a cool dry place.
I'm about to turn in for the night. The boy Comet is going thru the wormhole to hang out here for a while and purr for pets. (He's bringing whoopie pies fresh baked today that his daddy brought home.) For a short hair cat, his fur is super-soft - it's downright silky! If you pet him, he will purr like crazy and lean all of his 18 lbs on your hand!Posted 8 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Happy Anniversary, Comet! Miss Roxy wanted me to tell you that she had a "pirate eye" last week also and she thinks that silly brother of hers popped her in the eye while they were wrestling! I wiped her eye with a cold cotton ball and by the morning, she had the eye open.
Hope everyone is having a great evening!!!Posted 8 months ago by roxysmommy #

Dee, thank you, she was a cool person :)
Well I am here @ that place, drug myself in and still haven't found the truck that backed up over me. Even left to pick up one of my co-workers from the emergency room and took her home, then came back here.

Good morning all, we're having a touch of Spring's typical nasty weather, heavy rain and strong winds today. Heard a chainsaw at 9.30 tonight so someone must have had a tree down across their drive from what we could guess in the dark. There was even a tornado(Kiwi size of course) in Auckland city, damage but no injuries. Airy drove home from he friends through thick fog this evening, she said it was eerie but wonderful.
{{{{Deb}}}, Mum's are special.
Who would have thunk of pickling Brussels sprouts, they do look good though.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

...... I have never 'pickled' anything...... don't know why, with my LOVE of salty things....... I guess, I just haven't had the time to look into it!...... I've earmarked that site, great receipies....... might just inspire me to try now!
..... MS, it poured rain here too yesterday (and I swear the tutu wasn't at work - LOL!) ............
..... today my family is coming over for Sunday lunch, I made everything yesterday, and because of the 90+ degree weather, am serving a cold lunch of potatoe salad, my crunchy cole slaw, ham, smoked turkey, Wickles pickles, and apple pie/icecream for dessert!.......
.... my little 3 yr old niece is coming over, so I get to 'play' Mommie for a while!........ looking forward to it!

Hi AV, I pickle onions but it's more a vinegar than a brine that they are in. It's so easy, I have done gherkins but they didn't taste as good as bought ones unfortunately.
You enjoy your family and the meal today AV and have fun playing 'Mommie'.
Heading off to bed now.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

It actually rained here today, some places with hail even and 66 mph winds.
sitting here watching the setting up for the 09/11 ceremony, hoping that the supervisor brings out the remote so we can actually *hear* what is being said besides reading the closed captioning.

Nighty-night, MS, sleep well and sweet dreams. Hi, Deb, I am here for a little while. I am so sorry that you are still sick. It will be a hard day for you, thinking of your mum. I think she must be so proud of you. As Dee said, she raised a really cool chick! {{{Deb}}}
Remembering 9/11 is very distressing too. So much tragedy, so much loss of life.

Evening Jane, it actually rained @ my house, lot of wind that knocked the patio furniture around the yard.
Think today will be fine, remembering the good times with my Mom and what a nice person she was. The 09/11 stuff I have been watching off-and-on for the last month or so, I have dvd's of most of it.
