  1. I LOVE being 40!
60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk or if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"...here's an update for you.

Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage.

    Why?

Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Andy Rooney is a really smart guy!

  11. MerD that is so amazing you posted that today as I was reading it in my past emails that someone had sent to me and thought about sharing it here. You beat me to the post. Thank you for sharing.

Being over 40 myself...will be 45 this year, I agree with what Andy said, especially at the end. I will use that saying whenever I hear a man say why buy the whole cow when you can get the milk for free.

  14. In my area there is a very active social group called the 20/30 club. Well last night those of us who no longer qualify started the 40/50 club. We met at a local restaurant that is normally closed on a Monday. Shared a few drinks and great conversation, swapped business cards or email addresses and generally had a good time. Many of us had moved into town in recent years and all felt like it was hard to meet people in our age group outside of work.

  16. I am approaching 60 this year (approaching, HAH: I am sliding into home plate screaming!) and a friend of mine told me the following:

60 is now the new 40
40 is now the new 20

Just a question: what is 20 supposed to be?

  18. I love this--I turned 50 last November and told everyone that my 40's had been the best years of my life and I just expected them to get better!! I have seen a lot of those relics in yellow pants--around here they usually have on white shoes and a pink plaid shirt to complete the look!

  19. You are absolutely right Shelly. Back then I thought the 40's were the best years. That was the beginning of the best ... each year gets better. The good news is I'm still here and going strong!!! ppearson, I love your club .. that
    is so great.

  24. Here's something I found to go along with the article. I thought this was cute. I got a laugh out of it, I hope you do too.

    One for the girls

Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my shape to keep.

Please no wrinkles, Please no bags

And please lift my butt before it sags.

Please no age spots, Please no gray

And as for my belly, Please take it away.

Please keep me healthy, Please keep me young,

And thank you Dear Lord, For all that you've done.

    Thanks Renee!
