Good evening Shifters, tonight it's the late & lazy NS because it's late opening and I'm too lazy to do much more than set the fountains flowing and share the mini pizzas we're having for dinner. We're into about our fifth straight day of gale force winds and I'm getting twitchy, tired and grumpy with the constant wind. The winds are accompanied by scattered showers, some heavy and the odd thunder storm and hail fall. Welcome to Spring weather NZ style.
Pizza topping anything you desire as long as it includes onion, mushroom, kalamata olives, cheese, tomato, bacon & salami, oh and hickory infused sauce. I am considering making a dessert pizza with custard, banana and chocolate.
Come on in and place your order, the kitties are all snoozing so help yourself to the fountain.

Hey there Jan, think I will stick with water and lime slices tonight. Now the dessert pizza does sound good though :)
See that Wellington had a 'wee wiggle' of an earthquake tonight. FB's words that I thought was a unique way to put it.

Further to the wind, I'm itching to get into the garden to improve the soil and get it ready for planting the many seedling I've been raising inside but this wind is just too unpleasant to work in. If I don't get dirt under my nails on a regular basis I get grumpy. I gotta grow things.
This years trial plant will be Green Grape tomatoes and heritage capsicums.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

LOL, I like that description Deb, a wee wiggle, LOL. I hope it didn't interrupt KK's work happy hour.
What am I saying, of course it wouldn't interrupt work happy hour, Wellingtonians are used to wiggles.
Sends large glass of water & lime slices through the wormhole.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Lol, I do like that description too! Besides whats a little wiggle here and there when it comes down to it :)
You and Lynn both love to play in the dirt, she was using the blower today to clean out the tree needles from the rocks in my front yard. It was bugging her and I hadn't done it because I haven't felt well this week, she loves to do yard work it calms her....I felt guilty about it but had to let it go. Hope that the winds die down so you can get to gardening soon.

Jan, did you see this link that I posted earlier? Love the sleep masks design and I bet they are comfy as well.

Lynn has it right, gardening is calming. Even mowing the lawn is calming I find despite all that noise.
Deb, if it makes Lynn happy then let her be happy and hep a friend all at the same time. I'm sure there is something you will be able to do for her when you can.
We still have the equinox winds to come yet and they have been known to rip plants out of the garden or just wind burn them totally and then it's weeks of seed raising down the drain.
Here's an idea of our winds.

Boy this article annoys me so much, this child was tethered to the front porch while his parents were moving....it was done for his own safety. He had disappeared into the mountains after slipping away from his school, and the parents are only allowed to see him on Mondays until their court date. The child will be so confused and stressed its just sad.

Jan, it is calming for her and we do things for each other all the time. I kiddingly tell her that she has OCD at times....yard work being one of them and rearranging books and shelves when we go to thrift shops :) Now she has me putting like items together on shelves too, told her its her fault. I had seen that before on the crazy winds NZ gets, wonder how that affects those who get headaches from windy weather.

LOL, it's catching. I was in a shop today and a small mat on the counter was crooked so I automatically and unthinkingly straightened it. Luckily I know the owners well and we had a fun fight as she put it crooked again and I straightened it several times.
Oops, gotta go now for a while and cook dinner. Back later.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Lol, it is catching! Enjoy dinner :)

Has anyone ever made Gnudi? (Spinach and Ricotta Dumplings)
This recipe looks so easy, but I wonder if they taste kind of floury...

I'm back, 12 mini pizzas in the oven and we're watching NZ v Japan rugby game.
Ahhhhh, Graham Kerr the galloping gourmet, I can remember watching him on TV years and years and years ago Dee. How has he come to your notice?
Deb, I agree about the parents doing what they did for his safety and look what happens. Mum used to tie my oldest brother to the clothesline as he was a little ratbag and would run off and they didn't have fences around the house back then, it never hurt him. He continued to roam the world as he got older but eventually returned home with a wife and child to settle down.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

We used to have a very popular cooking show here some years back called Hudson & Halls. Talk about a laugh a minute and I'm not even sure if the cooking was finished some times but they knew how to make a bottle of wine disappear. They moved to the UK and had a show there too until one of them died. They were quite radical for NZ back then but we took those boys to our hearts.
I seem to have a vague memory of Yan Can Cook, maybe we had that on here at one time.
Ohhhhhhh, the mini pizzas are wonderful taste sensations but it's a pity the tomato was so hot, I think I burnt the roof of my mouth.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

LOL, yes I do have that weird wee piece of skin already. All I can say in my defense was I was hungry and the tomato had no right being that hot even if it was just out of the oven.
Don't you just hate that weird piece of skin. Does it have a purpose, other than to let you know you were greedy and an idiot eating food that was too hot to be eaten
Ouchhhhhhhhh!Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

LOL, Airy has burnt her mouth too and Mr MS is sitting here crowing that he was the only sensible one in the house. Hrrrrrrumph

Yay, NZ beat Japan 83-7. Japan have improved, must be the Kiwi coach and several Kiwi players in the team.
One very lucky turtle in a sad story.

Hi MS (and anyone else who might be around). Yay for NZ!
Did "Hudson and Halls" become "2 Fat Ladies" when they moved to the UK? I used to watch that, they were very funny (and you're right, sometimes the cooking wasn't the point).
Cooked tomatoes are the worst for burning mouths, I'm sure it's because they're mostly water. Of course, knowing that doesn't solve the ouch!

Evening Kilroy, Hudson & Halls didn't become 2 Fat Ladies but they were 2 hilarious men. They were an item when it was a new thing to be in public, let alone on nation wide TV. You either loved them or hated them and they made it very easy to love them.
My mouth is still sore, Airy has decided eating ice cream will help but I can't have any darn it.
I've been busy making cream cheese so I can have some tomorrow to soothe my mouth. It's hanging dripping out the whey now.Posted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

As you say Kilroy, there were similarities.
Sorry to say it's time for me to leave and head to bed. It's 11.30pm and tomorrow is Saturday, yay. Have a great day Kilroy. Nighty nightPosted 8 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

I do remember watching Graham Kerr on the Galloping Gourmet many times, and my son when he was younger would get up in the wee hours (we were in Germany) and watch Yan Can Cook. He loved that show :)
