  1. I guess it's just California people or maybe the area I live in just doesn't house people that care for litle blackies. I just can't figure it out Catherine. It was sad for Spider & Thumper when they would go to the adoption center. Time & time again they were passed by.

  4. This is the only thing I see That stops me from taking that little sweetheart...

"Animals must be accompanied by either owners or a representative and must have written certification that the cat or dog has been under the owners' supervision for at least 3 months before entering Spain."

Been thinking of coming to Spain lately Anncetera?

  5. LOL Great Dane - you are looking for trouble !

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  6. Yes, I think Anncetera could use a trip to Spain!

Posted 1 year ago by GreatDane #

  7. Or she could send a representative.....hmmmmm..... I know SOMEONE who's going to Spain soon.......

  8. I would love to have a "chest kitty" again. My first kitty, Whiskers loved to sit on my chest and purr. It was the only place she would sit. I loved it as it was very comforting. So far only Sylvester will sit on my lap. Mia is too crazy still to sit anywhere. She barely allows me to pet her at times.

  9. GD, who ever might that be? (She looks around innocently.)

  10. Poor Sweet Pea this morning was so insistent about sitting on my chest that, when I made that unavailable, she walked over to my shoulder and sat there for a couple of minutes (before losing balance from my movements, and grabbing to keep from falling off).

  11. Karin, Sweet Pea will not only sit on my chest and purr, she will fall asleep there.

  12. Anncetera..I'm very happy for Jellybean's placement in such a great home..I wish her many years of furrful fun. My heart goes out to little SweetPea who must be missing JellyBean terribly....sniff...What a sweet mom you are to accomodate her so completely. There's no way I can manipulate my keyboard to type when the my furrfans decide to lap lounge!

  13. I have to accommodate her, Karenopa... you should see the big, pathetic eyes she gives me. At least as tragic as any puppy I've ever met! I swear, she'd quiver her lower lip and have her eyes well up, too, if she thought that would help her get her way.

The kitty that Sweet Pea seems to be becoming close to, unfortunately, is Mili - who will soon be with OP.

  14. Calling Catwoman!!! Would you like a travelling companion for your trip to Spain???

Posted 1 year ago by GreatDane #

  15. Oh no ! Poor Sweet Pea... :( On the upside, Mili has been with other cats so this will just be 'another cat' to her.. I hope. Chloe has only seen them through the glass the past 3 years.

  16. OP, I'm pretty sure Mili will adjust just fine. If anything, I think she's going to like having fewer playmates and more attention from her person. She's wearing the harness just fine, meeping every once in a while for attention, and showing curiosity about Sweet Pea (not hostility). She's doing everything she can to get Sweet Pea to play with her.

  17. Oh, Anncetera, if you were nearby I would want to take Sweet Pea home. I really miss a cuddly kitty. Sometimes I wonder if I am a bad Mom since my cats don't like to cuddle much except when I am asleep. Oh now that is making me feel very sad. Tears are forming.

  18. Karin, you're not a bad Mom. Some kitties just don't feel the need to cuddle. For instance, my Violet will probably never be a cuddly kitty; neither will Dom. They each want attention, but they aren't lap cats by any stretch of the imagination.

  19. I guess since my first cat Whiskers liked to cuddle so much, I really miss her and her cuddling with me. Sylvester has been a love bug in a way that he comes over rubs up against my leg, I reach down and rub his back near the base of his tail which then causes him to "tip over" and flop down. I then rub his belly and scratch his head as he purrs with happiness. He will come and sit in my lap if Mia isn't being too crazy. He didn't do it last night but was sitting in my lap on Monday night.

When I first read about Mia, they claimed she was a cuddily kitten who like to cuddle under the covers and would come when called. They fostered Mia from age 4 weeks to age 12 weeks so I guess she was recovering from living on the street for four weeks and therefore that may have caused her to appear cuddily to the foster people. Who knows, I know that she is going through the "terrible twos" currently and am looking forward to when she calms down. She is seven months so I am guessing that will occur in another 8-10 months. We will see.

  20. Mia will probably settle right down once she's a bit older. I'm amazed at the difference in Violet and Mili, from about 4 or 5 months ago. When Mia was very small, it's not surprising she would have had a greater amount of cuddliness; she was making up for the contact with her mum and littermates that she no longer had available.

Sylvester sounds like his has a malfunctioning "butt button." (That's what I refer to as the area on the back, near the base of the tail.) Sounds wonderfully affectionate, though, and he's at least sitting in your lap from time to time. Most cats won't let you rub their bellies, either; he sounds like such a sweetie!

  21. Karin - my Chloe is not much a cuddler either. She'll sit in my lap, if she chooses. At night, she'll lay near the pillow on the other side of the bed, usually just out of my reach. She doesn't like to be picked up either. Last night was strange... other than her usual facial, she actually laid her front legs on my chest and just stared at me. Hard to sleep that way LOL

You are not a bad momma.... I feel that way too sometimes when I'm not home enough. Chloe will let me know by basically flying at my shoulders when I'm sitting at the computer. My que to "play with me now and pay attention to me NOW" .... they are all different.

  22. What - no belly rubs! My Bobsky loves belly rubs, but doesn't purr unless he's sucking his blankie and won't ever sit on my lap.

Karin, it's just a personality thing with Sylvester. As for Mia, she's too young and full of energy. When I got Milo, he liked sitting in my lap and cuddling but as he's gotten better, he's now so full of energy, he can't sit still for long enough. Hopefully once he grows older he'll be a cuddly lap kitty, but if not, I'll love him anyway. I am starting him on the belly rubs, though, and he seems to like them.

Posted 1 year ago by GreatDane #

  23. Oh... and Chloe does the fall over sideways thing too, when I rub at the base of her tail. Then she stretches out long and lean (I call her my silver bullet) and the belly rub and 'armpit' scritch

  24. None of my cats are lap cats. Squint sits on my lap for about a minute as soon as I sit down, then he goes by the window and lies down. The others are around, but usually out of reach. None of my kitties purr loudly either. I miss the loud purrs and chest massages I used to get from my beloved kitty who passed over the bridge four years ago at age 15.

  25. Bobsky flops over on his side too, when I hit the butt-button, and then onto his back.

  26. Patches was never a lap cat until my trip to NY last Sept. I was gone 11 days and when I got back she wouldn't leave me alone. Now she and Sheba fight over my lap.

  27. Awwwww, she missed her mama! Yay for Patches!

  28. Karin...your not a bad mom. i wish i could help you. Thumper is asleep at this very moment on his back in my lap. i can't understand how any kitty can be comfortable that way,but he loves it. And my Winnie still sleeps under the covers with me at night. i don't know how she can do that. i'd suffocate under the covers all night. hang in there.Mia will mellow.

  29. Both my cats are lap cats... they fight for my lap but Pipa (who is smaller) just snuggles on my lap untill she throws poor Melon off then she stops...
