Land O Lakes has some really good recipes, which you, Dee alerted us to sometime back,(years?). They also have a sugar free heavy whipped cream, in the squirty can, which is very tasty. Just had some on a warm slice of spice cake. :)

I did not know that about the sugar free whipped cream! Good to know for the holidays coming up when I do lots of baking!
I love the Land O Lake site! I'm glad you enjoy it, too. They have great recipes for both savory and sweet and I have loved every recipe that I have made.
You made spice cake? I love all those autumn spices. Jeez, I had a pumpkin spice latte from 7-Eleven yesterday and now I want to bake a spice cake!

That chowder recipe looks good. I make a potato and ham one that is similar (except for being potato and ham!). I'll have to experiment with sweet potatoes though - we don't get your kind of sweet potatoes here in NZ. We have an indigenous sweet potato called kumara that comes in purple, gold and orange varieties and the orange is the closest to an American sweet potato I guess.
12Pawz, could you open up the wormhole and slide me through a piece of spice cake with cream? Pretty please?Posted 7 months ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

Deb, they also have some healthier offerings now. They have egg white and turkey sausage flatbread sandwiches and wraps and they even have tuna salad on bagels. I know that tuna salad is full of mayo, but it at least offers nutrients that donuts can't...and would keep you full longer. And they have hot and cold apple cider for fall!

Spice cake always reminds me of my mom yelling at me when I was a little kid because I would sniff my food before every bite...haha! She would bake a spice cake and I was so "intoxicated" by the aroma that I practically had my nose in it and she would always say, "Stop sniffing your food! That is impolite!" But, I still always do it...I am just very discreet about it, as in, I don't hold it to my nose anymore...haha!

Hey, Deb! I just won another Dove bar. You can play this every day until 12/17...only takes a couple seconds and this is the fourth one that I have won!

Open wormhole!!! Sending KK a huge slice of spice cake w/ whipped cream, and a jigger of spiced rum to drizzle over. Now I must fess up.... The cake is not from scratch. Our grocery store often has cake mixes, various brands, to be buy one get one free. Well I took inventory today, and counted 10 boxes sitting on the shelf!! :( I won't be baking cakes from scratch for some time, now.
As an added note..... For box cake mixes..... you can substitute the amount of oil with the equal amount of unsweetened applesauce. I buy the 4 oz cups, usually sold in a 6 pack.

PJ, yes I am fine its up near Casa Grande and towards Phoenix, about 60-70 miles away from me. We get bad ones up that way and then again near the Willcox area which is mostly I-10 headed East towards New Mexico. They say the one today is 0% visibility right now.

Thank you WWM for sharing this....
A Horse named Reckless
This horse was a pack horse during the Korean war, and she carried recoilless rifles, ammunition and supplies to Marines. Nothing too unusual about that, lots of animals got pressed into doing pack chores in many wars.
But this horse did something more. During the battle for a location called Outpost Vegas, this mare made 51 trips up and down the hill, on the way up she carried ammunition, and on the way down she carried wounded soldiers.
What was so amazing? Well, she made every one of those trips without anyone leading her.
One can imagine a horse carrying a wounded soldier, being smacked on the rump at the top of the hill , and heading back to the "safety" of the rear. But to imagine the same horse, loaded with ammunition, and trudging back to the battle where artillery is going off, without anyone leading her is unbelievable. To know that she would make 50 of those trips is unheard of. How many horses would even make it back to the barn once, let alone return to the soldiers in the field even a single time?
Here is a clip of her story and photos to prove where she was and what she did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIo3ZfA9da0
Reckless was retired at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton where a General issued the following order: "She was never to carry any more weight on her back except her own blankets." She died in 1968 at the age of 20.

! I saw my surgeon today and he was very impressed how well I was healing after the ordeal I went through. He said my incision was really clean and well healed. He had me cough and strain and there is no recurrance of the hernia! He did say I will continue to heal for at least a year. I will notice a big improvement at the six month mark but I do need to take it easy and back off when/if I start to feel tension and/or pain. He said at some point he can make a referral if I so choose to proceed with an abdominal reconstruction. He said its not mandatory but at my young age I may choose it because I am still active and use my abdominal muscles a great deal in my work. He wants me to continue to watch what I eat and if in two weeks I still have troubles, he will refer me on to a GI specialist. Phew! That was a LOT to share! Sorry to be long winded!

Good morning everyone!
Glad the dr says he's happy with your progress mc! Abdominal reconstruction does not sound like fun though :(
I'm on the wrong side of a sleepless night. I have this jar of Really Good Zimbabwean coffee. Its divine. Only problem is, every time I drink it, I have an 18 hour caffeine buzz. *sigh*
