   LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A man captured neighborhood cats and kittens and fed them live to his pit bulls, authorities said Thursday. Tye Hilmo, 21, was charged Thursday with aggravated cruelty to animals.

   Hilmo was already in jail on drug, firearm and probation violation charges, Gwinnett County sheriff's spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais said.

   The new warrant charges that Hilmo "did give injured live cats and kittens to his pit bull dogs and let the pit bulls kill the already injured cats and kittens. Hilmo would capture and injure neighborhood cats for this purpose."

   He was arrested Sept. 10 after investigators serving a search warrant on his house found guns and two pounds of marijuana, Bourbonnais said. He has been jailed since then.

   Authorities found the bodies of two kittens near Hilmo's residence. Bourbonnais said they also found a gruesome image on Hilmo's cell phone: a picture of one of his pit bulls and one of the mauled, dead kittens, and beneath picture a caption that says "Good Dog."

   "It's pretty disturbing," Bourbonnais said.

   The initial tip about Hilmo indicated he may be feeding kittens and cats to his dogs to prepare the dogs for fighting, but no dogfighting charges have been leveled against Hilmo, Bourbonnais said.

   Sheriff's officials could not immediately say whether Hilmo has an attorney.

   Hope this guy gets everything Gwinnett County prosecutor's office can throw at him. And I hope they get the photo published in the paper! Time to have citizens of Georgia pressuring their lawmakers to stiffen the laws and penalties on animal cruelty.

   The news posted this kid's photo all over the news last night. He's a pimply-faced blond punk who thought he was cool. Now he knows he's dead meat. His dog is in custody with animal control and seems quite friendly. I think he can be rehabilitated and adopted. Can't say the same for his owner.

   I hate to say it because it's not the dogs fault,but,you can't rehabilitate a pitbull once it has killed something. At least I've never seen it happen. Once a killer,it can never be trusted,or I should say,shouldn't be trusted around small animals or children. That kid is sick.

   There should be an animal abuser registry, just like there are sex offender registries. So people like this guy are never allowed to have animals again and their criminal record follows them everywhere they go.

   I would feed him to the lions at the zoo. And then I would post a picture with the caption: "Good kitty!"

    Makes me so sick, especially for the neighbors who had their kittens and cats kidnapped, wounded and murdered. I hope each and every one who has had a cat go missing files a civil suit against this monster.

    My first idea: lock him away. For a looong time. Maybe time and rehabilitation will make him become a human being.

    Horrible man. Sorry to say this is a common occurrence with kittens and cats being used as bait for teaching pit bulls to kill. One of the biggest reasons not to advertise free kittens as many of the free ones are picked up by these cruel neanderthals. Pit bull bait, boa constrictor food and sold to research facilities - no free anything unless you personally know the people.

    You're right, Elene, this kid is definitely not on the food chain yet. As for the Neanderthal comment, you are sentenced to watch the season premiere of the new Caveman show (the Geico dudes) which was filmed right here in Hotlanta.

    Sharon, just love those Cavemen - so I don't mind the punishment. In fact, as I was posting the remorse for disparaging the Neanderthal, I thought about the Cavemen. :) When does the show air? Is it ABC, NBC, or CBS? Don't watch that much TV anymore so have not seen the ads.

    Elene, Cavemen begins Oct 2 on ABC. I can't wait. Looks like Tye is going to get a whole string of offenses stacked against him. Now I see a famous rapper has dog abuse charges heading his way.
